D/D Elementalist OR DPS Guardian?
Elementalist
I main Engineer/warrior, but i do have 100+ hours on elementalist, and one of the things that are very present about the elementalist is awareness, if you know when your cooldowns are ready, even in other atunements and are able to utilize that, an elementalist is really strong. This goes for 90% of all Spvp, you have to be aware of your situation, and elementalist, if used right, can dish out alot of CC, Damage and support.
Guardian
I donĀ“t play guardian, except once in a beta for 20 minutes, i dont enjoy that profession but i’ll give it an assesment from a 3rd person perspective of the proffesion. Guardians have the lowest health pool, shared with elementalist, they have alot of “invulnurablility” or “consta-block” as i like to call it. They can dish out alot of damage and survive, but it takes just one fail, and you will die against any experienced player.
Elementalist vs. Guardian
D/D Elementalists bring alot of everything to the table, that is one of the biggest reason this is so prominent at the moment, you get CC, Heal, Damage, Conditions, Condition clearing, protection, auras, and so on. Guardians have many similar things but not quite to the extent that elementalists have. Also if you “catch” an ele they have a ton of stunbreak/mobility in one, so they can get away and recover. Guardians do have stunbreak and loads of healing, but are very immobile, so if you catch one, he or she really isn’t going anywhere. So i would put my money on D/D Elementalists.
As for skill and High end Tpvp
D/D Elementalists are definitly worth more in “high end” Tpvp compared to guardian. now i havn’t played guardian, but i know Elementalists have a high skill ceiling and if you can reach that ceiling, you are virtually unkillable
Hope it helps

If any ele beats me on a dps guard I will uninstall my game.

It depends what kind of DPS Guard you play. You can either run shouts or meditations, and both have a few variations. The full zerk guard is 20/20/30/0/0, and this particular build will die extremely easily while delivering the most amount of damage. I run 0/0/30/20/20 zerk meditation and have been for the past 2300 games. The survivability of this build is much greater than the 20/20/30 counterpart, and the damage is still really high when you setup burst properly.
Ele has more mobility and it might feel more fluid to some people, but it’s all about what you like. Personally, I found zerker necro and zerker guard to be the most fun out of all the classes I tried – give them a shot!
Edit: also, another cool thing about guardian is that you can run virtually every single weapon combo with these builds.

PvP is filled with new players below rank 20. Don’t take it seriously when people say “This build/class is so strong now” because chances are they are playing against newbies who are still learning.

Send him my way if you don’t beat him.

I shall back him up you stinky eles
Ive played both, theyre both interesting, but guard probably has the upper hand in almost all situations, though it might be closer now that guards got their vigor nerfed and eles got a few small buffs.
If anything a s/d ele would be more of a comparison in terms of playstyle, but it has a much higher skillcap and leaves zero room for error where a meditation guard has better defense but a bit less burst. A d/d ele might be better if youre looking for a class to roam between points since guards are a little slower, though thieves will give you a hard time whereas guards will eat thieves for breakfast unless they screw up.
Honestly id give both classes an equal chance and see what you like playing, but like someone said remember that youll probably fight a lot of newer players this month so keep that in mind

Between a Meditation Guard and the D/D Ele, which does more damage and by how much?
D/D elementalist provides decent group support and has okay damage and survivability. It’s still a bit too early to tell if they’ll see play at high levels. But they’re clearly a support role, not a damage role.
I’ve yet to see a meditation DPS guardian be effective in a tPvP match. Their damage is too easy to avoid, they lack CC so it’s easy to get away, they provide little or no group support, they lack defenses and melt in a team fight, and they have no escape mechanism or mobility outside of fights.
Support-DPS hybrids with shouts have the same damage and CC issues of meditation guardian, but they at least provide group support. However, with the currently available stat combinations, either their damage is laughable and you may as well go bunker, or they still die easily.

I know myself, Acandis and Itty Bitty bunker have had varying success with meditation builds. Also, the damage is decent.

I concur. It may not be the best DPS class but it definitely has its pros.
