Much more is changing than just statistics. The dynamic flow of Conquest matches will be very different due to the changes in: condis to boons, boons to condis. Guardian Bunkers will be back and Necromancers devoted to trashing your team’s boons will become big players. By the time HoT releases and we see Chronomancers, the meta will be in a similar place to that of GW1 where matches heavily revolve around the holy trinity play of Guardians/Necromancers/Mesmers due to their strong influences in mitigating damage, buffing, stripping boons, the coversion of boons to condis, condis to boons as just plain debilitation effects that cannot be mitigated at all.
This effect will be even stronger in WvW
God save you in HoT if your zerg doesn’t have Guardians/Necromancers/Mesmers in it

You can’t use vague terms like ‘prompt’. It’s been a year since the last real effort to balance this game. Anything short of 12 months could be considered ‘prompt’.
I just hope they don’t break anything too terribly, but I’m pretty sure they will lol. Like that one update where they accidentally made Chaos Storm so strong a team of 5 mesmers could instakill lupicus with it, or any mesmer in pvp could autokill anyone else in pvp without even giving them a downed state. :P
“Metas” need time to develop, and they can change over time.
The last thing you want are knee-jerk reactions to things that don’t need to be nerfed or buffed, and then come back here a month later saying “why did you buff X in the previous patch, it’s clearly overpowered now!?”, which was what happened with things like rampager stance.
I think they will have it on their priority list though, seeing as they know the scale of the effect this will have on the game. But I don’t think it’s something that’ll happen very soon (aside from the cases where there might be extremely broken stuff).
for a while I was very excited about tomorrow’s patch, but after seeing some of these builds and stats on today’s streams, im convinced it will be a total gong show tomorrow and for a long while after.

Well they were drinking beer on the most recent livestream (don’t like ANet people, we know what it was :P).
In any case, I’m kind of thinking they will nerf a lot of the engineer stuff… there’s been so many alterations to engineer that it’s tough to predict exactly how it will go down (the new “meta” will need time to cook).
The power creep is going to be a bit of a drastic increase tomorrow. I was just playing around with builds for Shatter Mesmer, Fresh Air Ele, D/P Thief, Medi Guard, and Power Necro….. and holy crap. I really want to see a Sw/T Shatter Mesmer with P/U (now 100% stealth increase and persona being made baseline) for the laughs – even if it isn’t the best build.
Hopefully they are ready to do a quick balance pass indeed as there will be things that are clearly op with so many changes going in at once.
. It would be a shame to be stuck with a toxic meta for another 4-6 months.
You mean another year, the last time we saw effective changes was april 15 2014 , since then ranger and necro have been underperforming and air/fire sigils proc people to death. You can aswell just quit if your class is not viable or hope for the addon where you get access to the elite spec traitline.

The game is several years old and the playerbase is very knowledgeable now.
Almost everyone sees the problems upcoming with certain abilities and professions, but it’s just a case of timing now. I’m sure they had a deadline to meet, so that’s why these changes (warts and all) are getting rushed out.
You could even tell on the stream how rushed they were just getting the power point done. Not to mention, neither of the guys knew for sure how the new Ranger healing trap worked.
That pretty much tells you there has been little testing done because how would it be possible to not even know how a healing skill works if you’ve been playing with the profession or against the profession.
Expect chaos tomorrow and many of the predictions will be surprisingly accurate. In fact, they had beta streamers today and it’s pretty clear that there are tons of imbalances they are letting go live…despite it being impossible for them not to know about it.

Necro has never been meta in 3 years bare 2 weeks of Dhuumfire/Terror. After which we got nerfed into oblivion, patch after patch after patch.
Terror is still nerfed because of Dhuumfire that is now dealing 1 stack of 3 sec burning if we manage to hit with our slowest attack in Shroud that requires LF in a build that can’t generate enough (condi), just to achieve less damage than scepter auto attack… Hahahaha hahah aha ha hah ahahahah !! ! !! !!! Dies
Speaking of Dhuumfire, it’s probably the most embarrassing Grandmaster trait ever now.
Not only are better versions available to other professions as minors, but it’s actually WORSE than Death Perception (the 50% crit grandmaster in the same tree line) for CONDI necros!!!
Don’t believe me? Imagine how easy it is to miss with DS 1 versus DS 4. Now, consider Burning Precision and Target the Weak which are what 100% of condi necros will have because they are defaults in the Curses line. The extra crit from Death Perception will proc Burning Precison and Target the Weak creating MORE condi damage than 1 stack of burning. You can also proc it from DS 4 (and any other DS ability…not just DS 1).
PLUS!!!! You get the extra raw damage from 50% crit while in death shroud which will make 1 stack of burning look like a complete joke.
How can someone with ANY experience in the game seriously call Dhuumfire a grandmaster??? It’s baffling and very embarrassing.

As much as I love to dog on Arena net for their horrible balance skill. What you said is kinda stupid, since there is literally an expansion coming out within the next few months as in less than 6 months.
And it isn’t that crazy to assume that we won’t see a balance patch until then, from past history (although I think ANet has stepped up the cadence game this time around).
