1 turret engi, ok, OP, but stationary.

More and more teams are actually using 2 turret engi’s to make up for their bad rotational and mechanical aspect, which shouldn’t be rewarded at all.

Clips, streams, videos.. All show how even top players are trolling around with 4 turret engi’s and/or others with 2 turret engi’s and easily win a game.

Do something about this.

Quite obvious if u look at the leaderboard aswel.
The higher you go, the more turret engi’s. Fact.

It makes also 0 sense how they can remain the same Turret Pressure while using more tank amulet (From Soldier/cleric to Sentinel’s).

Turret should scale with amulet; bunker amulet? = no turret damage.

FYI: Lazyness and lack of experience should NOT be rewarded

FYI2: fix the kitten “No Valid Path to Spot” bug where I still waste initiative aswel.

I was ok with it yesterday but TWO… TWO! engi dailies in a row. I’ve no clue why arenanet didn’t nerf this already when people have been complaining so much. It blows my mind. I’m mad right now because any game that I play that I queue with someone BOOM, two turret engis.. I tried being polite about it yesterday but come on already! I’m tired of not being able to play the game because of this friggin AI cancer 24/7 the past 5 days.
Do something about it!
I proposed something I think would help, make sure that you don’t put 2 engis in the same team and simply don’t allow people to duoq with two turret engis or just nerf this into the ground because it makes the game really, really annoying and effortless, you’re basically punishing us for spending more hours on the game and enforcing brainless AI play because why would you spend a thousand games learning thief or mesmer when you could just choose these magical traits, get some other dumdum to come with you with the same dumb build and win while stuffing food in your face and barely touching the keyboard.
This has gotten so bad that I ragequit today, I’ve not ragequit ever in my gw2 experience. I did rage (but not quit because of it) when I was getting close to rank 80 and I lost games due to other peoples stupid mistakes and I wanted the rank bad, but since and before then not even once. I think I may even pause the game until this stuff is taken care of because its just not ok and seriously unpleasant. If only anet said something on this subject but all these threads are left unresponded do. Probably they are read but at least tell us ‘Hey, we’re gonna fix this’ or something. This way it seems like nothing will change and its really sad.
I know I am being rude but how can you not be after so many hours wasted to be frigging outplayed by two PvEers every friggin game and not getting any response from devs? Really demotivating.

It’s completely ridiculous, terrorsquad is 100% right. Turret engis just keep winning…

You need some basic knowledge about the game to counter turret engis with rotation, and that only helps if there’s just one of them.

Matchmaking is awful, games get formed with players of all skill levels… newer players just run in and die. Last game I played our necro and ranger died to a turret engi in a legit 2v1 (everyone full hp and cooldowns at start).

Why is this build not nerfed already? No one uses it in actual high tier play and it’s COMPLETELY OP in low-mid skill lvl play. It’s ruining the game.

I agree with the OP’s title, players need to do something about turret engies. I played a match yesterday where one of my teamates kept charging mid to fight the turret engie, he died over and over. It was super hard to barely win the game, as everyone else knew to avoid the point he was on. He tried leaving his point for a sec towards the end and got thoroughly destroyed. Finally won 485-568 with a lord kill. If this warrior had understood to avoid the turret engie, we would of been fighting 5v4 instead of 4v4 with one of our players wasting his time. It was a lucky win.

Regardless, Turrent Engineer is a mediocre spec in ranked when facing good players. But I too sometimes feel like charging in gun-ho, and I agree that they are very strong when you try charging in. Unless of course you focus the engineer with 2 other players and quickly down him.

Good luck, and hopefully you find ways to improve as a player so you can face teams with 1 or even 2 turret engies. By the way, I play a no kit, no condi removal engineer, check my post in the engineering forums. It’s fun, and I can drop a turret engineer in a few seconds if he’s already under fire by another player.

With 2 turret engineers, the enemy team has limited mobility or limited stability. If the answer is limited mobility since they have necros, guards, etc. Group up and take the nodes one at a time. 5v3/4 will always be in your favor even if fighting on a node with a turret engie. If the oponents lack stability, but have decent roamers. Hope you have some decent decapers. If you can keep decaping a turret engineer, while using your other 4 players to hold the other 2 nodes, its another possible win, depending on the teams skill. Either way, turret engineer is strong, but limited in scope. Take advantage of their limitations and win. I don’t see many thieves complaining they can’t play bunker. It’s because most have accepted to play their strengths and avoid their weaknesses. This is a similar situation.

If you can decap or kill the engineer or any other class do it, but don’t smash your head into a bunker class solo and expect to come out on top in the teamfights. (which is where matches are usually decided)

From some time i keep reading stuff about engi turrets and their counter – avoid them. Like noone understand thats something is wrong with this build when your counter is to avoid this point as most likely you have no chance against it/takes too much time.

In general i found passive al builds to be stronger and mroe rewarding than active ones and its just wrong on so many levels that that its not even funny anymore. Engi in general needs to be toned down a bit as hes too strong in current state. Thats said i can get them down depending on the point they camping with pewpew ranger but it takes a while – basically waste of time.

When i go to pvp i want to fight players not pve cancer stuff

2 turret engi’s is too much.

One turret engi is fine but 2 is just over kill they just force themselves on a point and there is not a whole lot you can do to counter this the turrets give boons and heal themselves…

I have always stood behind Anet when it comes to balancing but this has gone too far.

Even with our Thief/mesmer comp, we fail to burst it down in time because 2 turret engis (each afk’ing a node) gives the other 3 players free pass to roam around, which eventually keeps us getting in outnumbered fights as mes/thief in most fights.

They’re actually quite strong in a teamfight with Sentinels being introduced, btw. They have too much sustain and/or their turrets are too insanely strong. The amounts of knockbacks are way too much in a period tbh

Dont’t get me wrong i am all in for a nerf but they are not that hard to beat. The real problem is you need teamwork, which most PUG Teams didn’t have.

True, but I dont find it fair it can deal the same amount of pressure as using Soldiers (Turrets). They should scale with the amulet and therefore be less powerful (Turret dps) in exchange for more survivability, no?

I have 2 problems with turret engineer. One, they take next to no skill to still be somewhat useful in a match. A no skill thief is probably gonna be worthless. But turret engineer? Still effective against a lot of people. My second problem is the turret health. It just seems way too high (maybe just with the trait?). Even in zerker gear, cleaning turrets can take up quite a lot of time, relative to the pace of a PvP match.

It would be interesting if they made it like GW1 spirits. Where you could only have 1 of each spirit up within range even if you had 8 ritualists. Because having 11 (seriously – 3 turret engies) dropped on me at the very beginning of the match was the biggest eye roll of all time. Though I don’t know how appropriate it is with the random teammate matching.

Pretty much this only one I found to struggle is necro if you don’t come with enough LF, pure burst is at a disadvantage unless you are playing a glass range spec and is let alone, obviously I am talking solo encounters group encounters are less controllable.

I am not going to complain about going against a 5 premade turret engi team, when we weren’t premade. Its whatever, but Anet please fix the ability to put the turrets in the air. All of them put their turrets in the air…and with my cele rifle engi build I couldn’t grenade the turrets down.

This just happed: 4/3/2014 1:15 cst if you want to see the turret placements…so not only it is going up against 5 turret engis but with turrets i couldn’t destroy.

I consider the problem with turret engis to be twofold:

1. Turret builds have excessive functionality.

In the past, there were (among other roles) decappers and bunkers. Decappers were annoying because in a 1v1 they could knock you off point and neutralize your node, and you’d have to fight them to get it back. Bunkers were annoying because they stopped you from taking a node, but thankfully they couldn’t apply enough pressure to push you off one.

The problem with turret engis is that they can both decap and bunker. It doesn’t matter if the point is friendly, neutral, or hostile, they’re going to take the point and sit on it until you’ve whittled down their turrets or gotten enough support to force them off.

Either you have to give up the point simply because the turret engi showed up, or you put your team at a disadvantage the whole time you’re fighting them. That’s right, while everyone else has to put in an effort to win games, turret engineers get a pass simply for showing up. Which leads to the more serious issue…

2. Turret builds are useful simply by existing.

Almost everything a turret engi brings to the table is passive. Their turrets just need to be placed, they have traits that give them regen and protection, and they can bring tanky amulets and still do a frightening amount of damage.

That means players who care only about winning, but never actually had the skill to win consistently, have found their answer. They are reveling in it, and this is making PvP a much less pleasant place to be.

This creates an issue whether the turret engi is your opponent or your teammate. When they win, they take all the credit, but when they lose, it’s the team’s fault. Why shouldn’t a turret engi come to that conclusion? They play the same game whether it’s a win and a loss, all they see is a different outcome.

An allied turret engi who camps one point and clicks their skills feels it’s entirely within their rights to criticize the rest of their team for failing to control 1/2 points when they are fighting the enemy 4v5, and that’s probably more annoying than an enemy turret engi who gloats after a win.

This spec provides a somewhat effective feeeling of accomplishment to those new entry players that are trying spvp, but it’s a spec that will possibly do more harm than good in the long run as it tends to be a very frustrating spec to fight against for many players. If DPS warriors, DPS necros, and other relatively easy to learn specs were more effective, I think we would have a healthier meta. The complete dissapearance of turret engineers, and slightly tunning down DPS thives and certain celestial specs would help with that in my opinion.

I’ve read of this but, haven’t seen it myself. You mean placing turret’s with Ground target up on things? Or, is there some kind of bug that’s allow people to stack them in the middle of no where?

I haven’t tried it myself since I don’t play the cheese that is turret engis…but I assume it is just placing them using ground targeting with a jump or something…I am not sure. But it is frustrating because I played against them again…and they are still doing it =[. I just want to know is this a proper way of using turrets? Or is this considered a bug that should be fixed? B/c if it isn’t a bug than turret engis just got a buff…might as well just make the turrets follow you while flying.

I think the easiest fix would be to lower the turret health in PvP. Mesmer phantasms also have lower health in PvP.

Absolutely, wee needs a report function for bug abuse/cheating.
If a whole team abuses a bug this is no accident and there must be consequences.

Just give us a deathmatch option already. Capture the point style matches only promote one style of gameplay BUNKER. These builds can be killed but it takes so much time while they sit there gaining points. Then you kill all thier pets/turrets etc then them. Boom they spawn and are right back with all the pets/turrets again forcing you to take awhile to kill the pets/turrets again and them while they sit on the point again.

The nerf is absolutely coming. At this point it’s just gotten to be a joke. But don’t blame people for playing it when they want to win and get the track rewards/daily rewards. If they start comparing the AI to actual skill? Yeah, blame them haha.
