i disagree while d/d ele was overtuned the metas it existed in and helped create were some of the best imo, also it goes to show that the most overtuned build pre-hot is now crap tier

D/D was boring to me and one of the reasons I never liked Ele till Tempest. And that’s coming from someone who loves dagger mages/rogue mages in any game that does it. Just wasn’t interesting the way GW2 designed it. It was very silly with tryhard combos without much payoff other than being annoying. The skills also didn’t really do anything with the daggers themselves. The only skill I really liked was Vapor Blade but it was pretty useless unlike the GW1 variant where water actually killed things better.

Although I can agree on one thing and that’s all weapon sets for every class should be viable. Too many useless ones like Thief P/P and Sword.

It did payoff by being annoying with it’s sustain from skillspam and poking you for hours while it tryharded desperately for might combos to gain enough damage to kill something. I always just found them a nuisance and never actually a threat, personally. Especially in WvW where they’d just pester you till it was ready for them to run to a gate door to camp for their downed skill. I felt like I could just use less effort on a more fun class and get the same payoff back then so I just didn’t play Ele much.
Tempest lets me use Staff without feeling like a free kill target from lack of low CD defensive skills so I found it a lot more fun now.

they can’t even balance the current elite specs, how can you expect them to tone them down and balance them around core specs? sorry but that idea is suspended indefinitely

One thing missing is the ‘elite’ effect of core specializations.

The elite specialization slot is there whether you put an elite specialization or a core one.

So why not using that? Put a core specialization in the elite slot, it becomes elite, and the first minor trait gets a boost, and becomes an empowered version of itself.

Specializations that are too powerful in combination with others would be adjusted by moving part of its power to the empowered version of the first minor trait. Specializations that are deemed weaker or picked less often would get a boost in the elite version, without becoming too much on their own. So you can’t never combine the two things that are too powerful together, because there’s only one elite slot.

For example, some profession heals too much? The extra healing gets moved to the elite minor trait of the specialization that is the main source of healing.

Completely agree with OP. The elite specs offer too much of an upgrade over any of the core traitlines, which is killing a lot of build diversity. I suppose A.net’s long-term goal is to have multiple competing elite-specs, which would make sense when we reach that point.

If you didn’t like how well D/D ele was able to perform as a bruiser pre-specialization, then I’m not sure why you would like this meta with scrappers and revs doing everything better (except healing teammates I guess).

Within that new specialization meta, D/D ele was performing way better compared to scrapper in this meta. More damage, more escape, has a fair chance against necro.

Elementalist was most fun to play when the game was just released. Then it became systematically more boring to play with changes, until today where the class is just a bad satire of what it once was.
Balance is just another issue, basically the moment they removed stats points from trait lines they destroyed the class build variety for good. I told them immediately on the forum they were going to destroy build variety, they even replied and said “it’s too soon to tell”… Basically they had no clue what they were doing.

Again, we’re talking pre-specialization. I wasn’t a fan of post-specialization D/D ele either.

GW2 ele was already a far shadow of the glorious GW1 ele, nothing that current devs may come up will ever come close in terms of efficiency and fun factor

Forum search is CRAP. Google is better, too much result to find those posts.

I did report 2 build that got completely removed because they did remove key traits or attributes points where not enough. (engi decap, engi healing bombs/cond)

Those 2 are deleted even if reported. Well they thought that scrapper line would put those two sustain build in god like mode… yeah, so turning down scrapper line would had been better, IMO.

Guild Wars 2 was the best new MMORPG in 2012. It got praise beyond imaginary. HoT did removed all that.

1- Destroy balanced.
2- Power creep on HoT stuff only. Buy to Win.
3- Season 2 match-making system is a joke. Leagues show GRINDs, not SKILL.
4- We are all looking around for games from 2012 and up. Large choices, great possibilities. Unfortunately, no MOBA play with Action RPG mindset around.

Results: A lot of addicted players of a good game are now addicted to a terrible game and since we don’t have viable alternative… we are still QQ on the forum.

sPVP is awesome, HoT is terrible. Train rekt.

My situation. But I do enjoy “lurking” around the forums… and I still have a 1% hope that ArenaNet figures out that P2W is bad for their game. If they don’t, I will continue playing other games. Nothing lost.
