Solution for Elixir H: Make it proc swiftness out of combat & in combat proc protection, same with tossed elixirs.
Solution for Elixir X: When you use it while jumping it procs Tornado, when you use it normally it procs Rampage. Make it proc rampage only at best.
RNGs are just excessively unhealthy in any PvP system, just give this treatment to every single RNG possible imo.
You did it for some mesmer RNGs why not engineer’s etc yet?

Anyways, yeah. Engineer is fairly ridiculous. And things like chance to fear on hit or chance to proc quickness, really? I’d be ok with things like critical chance or whatever, but those are literally game changing. In fact, I remember a specific example where a warrior had already used frenzy, but quickness proced after he used bola, so I got to eat a full quickness 100b. Yay.
Just another hurdle for ArenaNet to get over…

Remove RNGs and I’ll switch to playing an engineer in PvP.
This has been preached about since beta. Its still here.
I have heard several very simple reasonable ways to fix it before beta was even over. Its still here.
Good chance it aint going away anytime soon as the only responce we got from a dev about it said its a good thing….despite every pro player saying otherwise, other major game developers saying otherwise, and majority of the community saying otherwise..
so apparently they made up their mind that everyone else is wrong and they’re right, cause i’ve heard nothing that suggests otherwise.
Threw this quote up earlier from president of SOE.. another company that makes many mmos like everquest…i think it identifies a core issue of why we still see RNG.

But yea, if you search RNG, you’ll find about 500 threads titled about it within the first couple months of release….your not the first to mention it, but i agree it needs toned down severely.

fun fact; I can think of GAMES that I’ve won solely because in a desperate situation I’ve been able to pull off a stomp that would have been stopped but I manage to get the random aegis proc of chaos storm right before the necromancers fear or the guardians knockback hit me. One game in particular where two in my team were downed, one who was about to get finished once my stomp would have failed.
I can think of another game where we had an easily won 2v2 with one enemy downed, one ally downed, me casting illusion of life on my ally before he was about to get stomped and then getting dazed by a chaos storm MID CAST that lost us the fight and the point.
It feels amazing when these things happen but I would not call it ideal, lol.
Then again, there are other esports that have done just fine with rng.
Yes the rngs can be quite annoying.
Exlir h, exlirs s on the toss, exlir U.
Heck, even our ultimate-elixir X.
I like the combat/not combat split.
I wish exlir S just granted 1 or the other reliably on its toss.
I wish exlir U was just ‘you cant be healed’. And had a reliable toss effect.
I wish exlir X did something unique, but atm i wish it just turned you into the tornado reliably.
Or..they can make the toss elixir junk linger when it hits the ground for more chances at getting the buffs you need (like chaos storm). I mean who is going to stop attacking to gamble for a chance of one stack of might? freaking really?
rng is why I never used the elite elixir in my elixir build, though it’s also because it always gets me killed, 2 second stun is just nicer.
With the other elixirs I just use them like they give no boon, and the boon is just a bonus.

Idk sounds like a huge mechanic overall.
Just making it something reliable and not RNG would be good enough.

That just turns into:
Toss elixir S = stability
Toss elixir heal = protection
Toss elixir B = swiftness
Not only is the RNG terrible, but tossing an Elixir on the ground for a single boon isn’t even that great. If it wasn’t buffed up with HGH and 409 it wouldn’t be worth it, and even then it’s certainly not worth it in combat just for the Might and random boon. Not to mention on top of all that, buffing your allies with tossed elixirs is a noob trap and incredibly ineffective.
If engineers could put out the same amount of crying as thieves did with the rng skills from steal they would probably change something..

Elixir X Tornado doesn’t glitch self rez. Right now if you jump while using Elixir X it negates the whole thing tho, you don’t even transform if you are jumping at the end of it so that would also fix this bug.
I am not interested in abusing any bug of any sorts and I do not encourage anyone to, your team does it shamelessly though.

If engineers could put out the same amount of crying as thieves did with the rng skills from steal they would probably change something..
Steal isnt rng. it varies based on the class you steal from. But its always the same thing for each class.

tbh i would prefer rng over the crap mechanic we thieves have ( probably the most boring and unimaginative along with war one, and nobody complains about it simply because we have Mug and Mug is freaking OP).

No, we just had chaos storm being absolutely broken because you could also get fear from it.

Steal was random in alpha/beta, you could obtain 1 item from a pool of 3-4 per proff.
They decided it was too much, now we steal gunks from engeneers.

Right, well the point stands, rng is annoying. And engies have like 5 or 6 rng abilities (counting the tooltip versions).
I literally throw down/drink elixirs for might stacks and cleanses. I don’t even try and think about laying down a boon in a smart manner before using the elixir unless it’s S (even then it’s suspect to RNG).
If I try and throw elixir H at myself to counter some sort of burst via protection, I might give myself regen. An entire facet of our abilities remains suspect to complete RNG. Many fights have been won or lost because of it, most of it unknowingly. Protection vs regen/vigor, stealth vs stability, swiftness vs fury
Just thinking about how many fights I lost cuz of it makes me shed a tear

Looks like you’ve uncovered one of the basic tenets of gw2 pvp: using skills effectively should be synonymous with using skills as they come off cooldown.
