Etiquette in TPVP?
Good points. 1st one especially, since it’s sometimes annoying when you don’t know what are last 2 players until 0.00. On the other hand, the opponent cannot counter-build neither..
Also, i would add to the list to " try to follow tactic " when people are communicating. It’s quite annoying when your tactic is not followed, and that people even end up flaming you in addition..
But actually, these points concern both solo queue and team queue..
The first part is really annoying. I don’t know how many times I’m playing bunker Guard, and another Guard joins at the last second also bunker. With not enough time to switch to a dps or hybrid spec. cough build templates would be nice anet cough
Heavens Rage
Yeah, build templates would help a lot to “counter” these kind of situations.. But as for now, just some form of “politeness” would be surely appreciated.
Sometimes it isn’t as much of being rude as it is being ignorant…
Pardon my words of course, but there are many players out there who do not realize that having 3 thieves is bad, showing up at the last second can cripple your team and a large demographic do not bother to read the chat because they are either in a large guild which floods the chat, or they simply ignore it because they have no clue what kind of value it has when used right (tactics and stuff)
There is no way to cure the last as it is people’s behavior to read or ignore the chat, however the first two problems can be fixed
- Ready up working as intended – match can only start if all 10 players press it
- Maybe a better lobby system – that 1.5 minutes of waiting is not going to help you…
Lost? Confused? [TCS] – A guild for every state of body and mind
- Don’t join at the very last second, not letting your team reroll!
- REROLL if you see you obviously NEED to reroll! (had a match with 3 thieves, I rerolled asking one or two of them to do so, I re-entered the match and they were all there).
Normally I find pugging the team queue to be a more pleasant experience than solo q, but there is always the exception….
Today, I had the honor of being teamed up with a guy that decided to lose the game on purpose, because the other thief asked if he could swap to something else.
How I wish you could block people and prevent ever being teamed up with them again.

lol some people, just don’t understand.
This is why I generally don’t ask people to swap their class, I just take it upon myself to either switch builds or class if I have to.

Maybe some people don’t know that you can reroll? It is a little annoying, yeh. ^^;
Ahaha. “Can you swap?” “No and kitten you”. Silly Spanish kid really wanted to play his thief.

I think that everybody knows that.. if they don’t, they shouldn’t even get paired with me in TeamQ.

Stop rolling with PUGs
Find yourself a mature tpvp crew who communicates
To be honest, with queues taking 5 min+ sometimes I obviously alt tab and simply forget I was queuing for a moment; sometimes tabbing back 10 sec before the match starts or even almost getting kicked.
They should implement a warning sound which you can hear when a match gets found (DotA 2 has such a system for exemple and it does wonders). That CERTAINLY wouldn’t take much work, heh.

I already have. But I like to play TPVP even when they are offline, so here I am. Next “advice”?
I also find that people are nicer in team queue. Maybe the OP just got unlucky.

Soloq does seem to bring out the worst in people. I wonder why!

Yeah, I just don’t know what it is! Maybe there’s something… something that’s not in team queue… something people in solo queue have to put up with but don’t want…
Nope, can’t think of anything.
@Harbringer right^^
to frenks initial post:
1)
as some ppl mentioned, the queueing-system is horrible, takes an eternity to take in where you have to have your game maximized and sitting directly in front of you PC waiting for the prompt, no proper confirmation system
2)
My main for example is Ele, while I do have other classes and while I basically do know the builds for them (or could google them) I dont know the exact rotation, the flow of skills if you want so.
So I could swap, but would be weaker by then.
3)
valid point
But there I would have to scold you, because you SoloQ in TeamQ!
But if you think about it points 1 and 3 of Frenk perfectly reveal the WEAKNESSES GW2 PvP has (not all of them though):
- The Matchmaking
- The Leaderboard
- ppl being forced from SoloQ to TeamQ (due to various reasons, map rotation as well)
- the Queueing-System
- several other things
And due to that the playerbase of PvP became pretty low (I dont know how else long queueing times + horrible matchup exists, except that the queueing system is bad beyond imagination)
Well I have to admit, I dont play the game atm anymore, I stopped playing 3 weeks before the feature patch, as I read what was addressed and what was not.
And I probably wont return in the next 1/2 year or something, maybe never, at least not until I read Skyhammer will be removed from SoloQ.
But I doubt anything has changed in those about 2 months.
I also find that people are nicer in team queue. Maybe the OP just got unlucky.
Maybe you are right. I’ve had a much more pleasant experience yesterday, but still with a lot of trashtalks (on the other side, though).

You can do this in dota 2 by muting them, and next game when you see them (even if they changed name) just disconnect and the game will never start. You might get put in low priority for a few games but you won’t lose your precious kitten ranking points.
Ez game ez life. Icefrog balance genius.

So, I left SoloQ right after reaching top 25, because of players’ attitude and because I didn’t kinda feel there’s any sort of point in competing for such a silly leaderboard. I mean, I don’t really think I deserved that 25th place, because afterall SoloQ is just luck.
Then I entered TeamQ and it was harder, due to the presence of premades, and this is good, and expected. What it’s not expected is that players’ behaviour is totally the same as SoloQ. I mean, there IS an etiquette, so just FOLLOW it.

- COMMUNICATE, for the love of god, if I didn’t want to relate with other players I’d do hotjoin (or SoloQ, but it’s kinda the same) NOT TeamQ! Even if all of our team is formed by PUGs, I expect more “professionalism” in TeamQ!
I know I’m gonna get flamed, but hey! I just wanted to write this.
TL;DR
TeamQ’s players’ Behaviour is the same as SoloQ.
Valid points, Frenkie!! However, if you jump to tpvp, you are expected to go there with a pre made team preferably using TS so you don’t spoil your gaming experience much. Communication will always be a problem in tpvp otherwise :-)
I find the environment better in team queue.
That said, don’t expect a lot of communication. Afterall, it is a
PUG.
Don’t solo q into team q….
Whenever I team q my friends and I make superpugs. I have about 10-20people to choose from at any given time. I don’t expect many people to have great players as friends, but simply making friends who like to PVP and then creating groups of five will eliminate a lot of your problems. Find nice players around your skill level and ask them to add you so that you can team q sometime. Even before I played with good players, I would always pug into team we with four friends.
I give up.
Few minutes ago I was into a match and then my sister came home early from work because she injured herself and needed my help for the stairs. I had to go AFK.
So I wrote in /t: “sorry guys, gotta go AFK, my sister is sick”.
The responses were:
“Another afker, what a moron”
“why would you SoloQ if your sister is sick” (had no time to explain she just got home injured completely unexpectedly)
I thought that maybe they didn’t read that I had an emergency and bla bla bla, so afterwards I explained myself cause I felt bad for my team, because I left them handicapped in a 4v5 situation.
Then suddendly a guy said “all report Frenk”.
What kind of twisted individual would ever want people to report a guy cause he had to go afk to help an injured relative? I apologized, warned that I had to go AFK and explained why I had to do so and this guy (and others agreed) wanted to report me.
Probably I am the problem, I should stop expecting people to have a positive attitude (or just be godkitten mature) and starting not giving a crap about other people.
