Feature Request: No thieves on my team
It’s a sad story but true
But i think thief itself is fine, mesmer ele and burning not really.
while we’re at it, an option to not have multiples of any class would be nice. Sure double ele is meta, but double ranger might not be the best.

With today’s standards, this is clearly a racist thread.
Double anything outside of Ele/Mesmer/Guard should be completely banned.
Come on Anet, work this into the match-making system please.
“The jealous are troublesome to others, but certainly a torment to themselves.”
Lol. I’m a thief player mainly and I don’t blame people for thinking this way now. Every class can outdo thief on almost every aspect of combat except for mobility..because, you know, thief always has the option of running away with mobility/stealth — such OP. You have to be a pretty good thief to match some average pvp daily casual using the current popular builds to even have a 50/50 odds of winning a fight..and that’s being generous.

I had a triple ranger team today. We dominated. #newmeta

Lol yeah I had a 4 necro team yesterday and we won. Granted the team we fought was a bit horrible if my memory serves me correctly, but still, it depends on a lot of factors besides just class. I just feel like it would be more interesting to not have stacked professions in random queue.

I’d like an option that will allow me to receive no thieves on my team when I solo queue. Unless you are a top 10 thief, you do more harm than help for your team. Try a different class.

Or maby you and your friends make your own premade team? Infact you already have this option avaiable. just make your own team. Do not interfere with the ability of other players to play the game. you are not the only one that bought the game.

This thread reminds me of a larger issue, which is that GW2 does a very poor job of teaching players about profession roles in conquest PvP. Most thief players have zero clue what the profession’s role in a conquest match is, which is why you see so many thieves just feeding the opposing team, and consequently why we have complaint threads such as this one.
If you play the meta D/P marauder, your two main jobs are to outnumber fights in your team’s favour and to go for farpoint decaps. Of course there are other situational and beneficial things a thief can do depending on the map, matchup and opposing team composition, but by and large, if a thief focuses on outnumbering and decapping, he/she will be useful. Playing the roaming DPS role to its fullest potential requires good map awareness and situational understanding, which is why the mechanically competent 1v1 heroes winning fights at dueling servers might suck hard in an actual game. Not to mention that it takes time to develop team synergy between a thief and other team members, so that coordinated CC+burst is delivered reliably.
It’s hard to teach any of the above to new thief players, but the problem is that currently GW2 is not even trying. WTB conquest-specific class tutorials that focus on profession roles and teamplay. If Anet dedicates the developer hours, I’m sure the community will write the actual (video) guides. It would be good PR for top teams to pitch in and have their names associated with collaborative development. But for the videos to have any impact they have to be integrated in-game, which is where Anet steps in.
