Mesmer Personality Quiz! Exclamation Points!
(edited by Chaos Archangel.5071)
.. If you really want to improve your game.
I spend a lot of my time ingame helping other Mesmer improve their play, but I often get accused of always going easy on people. This isn’t exactly true, but its not quite false either.
Dueling someone equal skill or greater to yourself often pushes you into another state of focus. Suddenly every movement, every action is a test of your skill and that drive to win will often push players to play at a level that they rarely exhibit. You don’t allow yourself to make the same mistakes over and over, you learn new things both consciously and unconsciously, and you may not even notice the change within you.
As an example, I used to have a problem with other Mesmer. Stealth always screwed me up until one day I dueled a very talented friend of mine over and over.. I started keeping note of his stealth patterns and the time he had, started timing my defenses to compensate. I didn’t notice the change in me until I went back to regular matches and found my reflexes sharpened to deal with other Mesmer.
… And then I started fighting players like Supcutie and Warlord of Chaos. Top tier Mesmer who fought on an entirely new level. I was getting crushed over and over and felt like I wasn’t learning a kitten thing.. Until again when I faced other Mesmer around my level they could not compare. Because my skill level had grown without me realizing it.
So if you haven’t done so yet, take the time to find someone better than you at your profession. Fight them without thinking (I’m gonna lose this). Fight at your best and fight off being demoralized and you’ll come out a better player for it in the end.
(Also works for fighting games. =P )

Dueling is boring in this game to me. Though I do agree with you that better competition makes you better.
I train daily by killing 1,000 test golems in the mist then run laps around the mist for an hour.

LOL
On topic – half the playerbase thinks that no one could be better than them and they only lose when something is OP/cheesy/insert thing bads say
Dueling is a great way to improve your mechanics in this game tho for real

Still way more challenging than unranked
no joke
top players are overrated… i dueled this nosco necro kid like 20 times, and won almost every single one…. (had to let him win every 5, so he would get discouraged)…. but yea, dont waste ur time with top players… Phanta and nos and wakkey are all easy kills.. if u wnna get better just fight vs urself on another computrr

You are slacking………… If you upped it to 2k golems, 1.5 hour track and 2 hours swim/ underwater mechanics off the LA beach, I think you would be a much better player. Can’t believe you don’t even try to hone in your underwater combat mechanics…. That is like 75% of sPvP….
Also as Ozarc stated. You could just 1v1 yourself on another computer or even 1v1 yourself IRL. That will definitely sharpen your skills a lot.

I used to do swimming workout in the mist, but the Devs didnt like it and closed off the area.

That’s because you were peeing in the water…. I saw you and told them. Evidence was clear due to the blue dye they filtered into the pond. This is why it is closed and we can’t have nice things.
Learning and playing the other professions helps a ton too.

Cuz Anet didn’t refill the evaporated water. I had to take measures and provide suppemental fluids levels.

But now everyone has to practice off the coast of LA…. Paparazzi caught a rare photo of Backpack off the coast just last week; practicing on a self made underwater obstacle coarse. The things we have to do since the area was cordoned off due to contamination…..
Is it some part of ongoing discussion or argument?
Because it felt like that, reading 1st post.

Idk that’s sarcasm or not, but killing Golem is only beneficial in your skill rotation testing.. Rest is just pointless.

Give it a try. for 30day. You will see the remarkable results. I’m serious.
LMAO 1st post was good the replies were hilarious +1

It’s why my Norn has abs. He’s not partial to swimming tho.
On point though, dueling top players is probably the best way to get better. You know your build’s weaknesses are against other builds.
The below link is exactly what I’m talking about. If every single person had a list like this for their build, you’d be twice a better player and a bigger asset to your team.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/guardian/TPvP-Condi-Guard-Roaming-Guide/first#post4763471
It isn’t just about beating top players, it’s learning about the ones you can’t beat. Prime example: Most Medi Guardians call my build cheesy… When med guards actually counter me. That’s their own L2P issue.
Learning skills from other professions, is key to understanding why you lost. Learning your build’s weaknesses, is key to never losing again.
I miss the time when you could play custom arenas while waiting in queue… I used to join duel servers and fight there to improve skill. Too bad they removed that option….
problem is top players are either:
- too busy
- too arrogant to duel you
- get bored too fast while stomping you 24/7 and leave
top players are overrated… i dueled this nosco necro kid like 20 times, and won almost every single one…. (had to let him win every 5, so he would get discouraged)…. but yea, dont waste ur time with top players… Phanta and nos and wakkey are all easy kills.. if u wnna get better just fight vs urself on another computrr
Yeah especially that “Backpack” guy, what an easy kill. He runs around saying he’s the best engi, but then gets 100-0ed by power rangers. Oh well, maybe one day he will improve.
;)

Yea… There’s no such thing as #1 engi, #1 ele, etc etc. You can brag about being #1 team, not #1 player. Because these “top players” can always be beaten, or simply countered, by any joe blow player. Being good at your position, on your team, doesn’t make you the best player in the game.
It bothers me when people have something like #1 titles in their signature. There’s no measurement for individual skill level to show case that.
Saiyan I don’t think you understand the joke. Look at OzarcTheDefialer’s post history. I’ll let you figure out the rest.
even better find a top players and duo queue with him, duels aren’t 100% balanced in this game.
I tried to kill a golem in hearth of the mists but the little one killed me so many time …

Most people unfortunately misunderstand and can’t tell the difference, between top team and top players.
Top teams aren’t made from top players.
That’s why, you can see things like, Nosco best necro etc.

Being top is not only about 1v1…is about being able to properly rotate, map awarness and so on…1v1 is probably like 50%…sizer is not the #1 thief because he’s unbeatable in thief vs thief (He’s really strong but he can eventually lose 1v1 sometimes) he’s #1 because there’s no other thief able to always be in the right position doing the right thing at the right time like him. You can win every 1v1 but if you move like crap and you have no awarness about what is going on you’re gonna fail anyway…and you’re gonna make your team fail with you too, in team i’d rather have someone who is less strong in 1v1 but rotating really good than a 1v1 hero with no clue…anyday, hands down

Lol no one’s getting it teef.
Noscoc is the best teamplayer necro any of us have seen. Backpack for all his ridiculousness is a good engi who seems to always to know how to help his teammates.
And toker>sizer although I do think sizer is better at decaps.
What player on Abjured isn’t a top player?

I am looking at it and laughing. Quo Vadis, world, that people can’t catch so obvious, straight ball.
(edited by Rym.1469)
#1 team player
#1 rotations
#1 right-place-at-right-time guy
That’s what the sig should say. Hard to deny that fact when his Team is indeed #1.
Saying you’re #1 “profession” means you’re #1 in everything regarding that profession. There’s no scale to prove that statement otherwise. Were these players on the top Spvp leaderboards? That’s the only argument I see here.
The joke is the fact you’re defending sigs that say “I’m #1 teef-teef in world” when that simply isn’t true.
People that say they are #1 are just joking or they having an ego trip. There are a lot of good players in this game. However, sometimes it can be difficult to differentiate a player’s skill. This is due to builds, rng, and other factors.
It’s nothing to get upset or even worrying about. If you run into a good or top player you’ll know. Most don’t really even bother posting on the forums, and if they do, they don’t really come off as ego trippers (besides Backpack, but he’s probably just trolling).
kitten ! And here I was hoping there would be some sort of real life fight club thing in this thread! [Insert Hercules DISAPPOINTED!]
Duelling is the best thing you can do to learn about your class. Its also the second best thing to learn about another class, second only to playing them yourself. Duelling can be fun and you don’t necessarily have to fight someone with more experience. “Swapping class duels” with a friend can be fun as well and teach both of you a lot.
