Hotjoin still Horribly bROKEN
my 2 cents.
it is because of 5v5, it places greater responsibility on each of the players,
with 8v8 you could generally assume that there was enough people on each team who knew what to do, so the games ended up fairly close.
with 5v5 you might end up being the only person on your team who knows what to do, and if the enemy has 2 people who know what to do then the game goes one-sided since you can’t capture everything alone.
solution, bring back 8v8.

This.
I have not been having fun at hotjoin ever since they removed the 8v8 servers. Yes, they were messy and zergy, but some of them were really FUN. Nowadays I VERY often run into games in which there is a HUGE gap in the score (the 400 to 20 kind)
I honestly don’t understand the LOGIC behind removing 8v8. Moreover, its not like spvp is even safe from the 4v5, now you have to suffer it in hotjoin too. In an 8v8, a team with 7 players can still win the game. Its not like this huge gap in scores never occured back then, but they were much rarer. And if you really loved 5v5s, you still had that option…
8v8 ?! You mean zerg fest? Were all fights are won by the team with more players running around in group?! No tks.
Feel free to play it if you what though, I will never enter a 8v8 server EVER. These servers are for ppl that don’t know how to play and rely on numbers to win, not on skill.

Yes, because when a team of 5 wins against a team of 4 its not the numbers game, its the mad skillz and strategiez. I’m not saying make all the servers 8v8s, but to make that option available in the game browser for people who want it.
Why do poeple care about hotjoin wins?
1) rewards? you get more if you soloq. even if youre new and bad, a few games and youll be matched with equaly bad players. + you will improve and one day be ready for teamQ and there, oh look, even more rewards than soloq
2) fun? if u like it, why not
3) The fun of wining? Wrong gamemode, again go soloQ. its a known fact ppl dont go for match win, just wanna fight someone.
4) Learning? its good if youre total beginer. you said “you know what to do”. i think that makes you ready for tpvp
5) Hotjoin is by definiton NOT balanced. neither by skill or player numbers. lower your expectations
Hers the problems and then the solutions.
1. Players stacking every single game.
Teams never get filled out untill about half way through the match and then the losing team is always down 1, so almost every single game its 4v5 against a stacked team and that horibly sux.
To get on the team thats stacking(the team that “Will” win and there no mystery about it if you just watch the joining team process you can tell who will win before the start timer even runs out) you have to spam the join team button for 5 minuts and you “Might” get in cause everyone else is doing the same. Im even tempted to make a macro to max out the packet transfer for that button.
So you get points for losing so Why complain about it?
Well there is a good type of match where you are back n forth and have good fights and the win/lose is close and you feel good either way cause it was fun.
Then there is the bad type of match 99% of the games are this(this is the state of the games Hotjoin pvp) The stacked team just beats the crap outa the other team and they dont even have a chance, which is why at the end of every match 50% of the players leave.(most of the losing team, there not having fun, if they were they would stay and try again) playing on that wining team is also pretty dull cause you dont even need to try in fact you could just afk on a point and still win.So how do you fix this.
1. No one gets to chose what team there on and there is an auto balance when a team has more players on it than the other team and automatically kicks the last player to join it off if no one joins the other team.
2. A teir system so players can only play against other players of there rank. even you you were to reject #1 this is desperatly needed. So players cant join and chose the same team as there buddy, well you have structured pvp/wvw for that, with your current system your piting casuals against teams or the players with the Fotm builds Engies/eles/warriors in that order stacking with each other usually at least 3 of the same runing the same basic Builds, ask yourself, Do you really think thats a fair systen to Inflict upon your player base?
I Quit playing for about 4/5 months, came back to see whats up after the last big content patch and am already half way leaving again, cause this stuff Im talking about here is the same persistant problem that I left for in the first place.
I want to play But your system is hurting the games fun element.
No problem with stacking in hotzerg…after some matches i’m usually the guy ppl try to stack with…going hj with team mates while waiting for q pop is always the best, everyone ragequitting at around 8 mins mark..

I agree they should bring back 8 vs. 8. There was also 5 vs. 5 back then for people to enjoy, if they felt like 8 vs. 8 wasn’t their cup of tea. Why even remove them when you had both?
Hotjoin has lost its fun factor after they removed 8 vs. 8.
Yeah it does seem less popular without 8v8. Although I still think in terms of getting people to learn the mechanics, having it only 5v5 is best.
I do think best solution may be to only start games when there are 5 players on each side, like they used to do with old random arenas in GW1. Play Now would be priority for games ongoing which aren’t full, then new games.

You missspelled the thread-title. It should be “PvP” instead of “Hotjoin”

(for those of you who know Black adder)
Ok, after playing a bit – not enough to make a clear objective statement perhaps – I can see no tendencies whatsoever that people are learning the basics of point capture in 5 vs. 5. Complaining about hotjoin in general in the past, people had the vague idea that an 8 vs. 8 fight would overpopulate a 5 vs. 5 server as it was built to be, inspiring zerk-like behaviour. However, this is not necessarily the case. On many occasions I see people avoiding capture points to hunt down people, because that is the simple fun of hotjoin. I observe people roaming in large groups of three or four (which is large in 5 vs. 5).
While I can add to these observations in the future, given more hotjoin time, I doubt the tendencies will stop. People are rarely fixed upon anything beyond the thrill of the kill and vengeance. While a good chunk grab points, they are definitely not protecting them, unless being high ranked (mostly) and seeing the benefit of achieving those extra track points for winning.
I doubt there is any solid reasoning for 5 vs. 5 doing more for the pvp community than 8 vs. 8 was. People who chose hotjoin, are essentially not in it for the collaboration between people to achieve victory, anymore than they are in it for personal entertainment. If people are more dedicated than the hotjoin level, they will pick soloQ or TPvP.
