Pretty much every dh using traps takes the trait & the daze comes before anything else.
If you dodge the instant you see the daze you can avoid all the damage the traps do.

Good deal I wasn’t looking for the daze. Thanks!

Anyway, I don’t think DH are too strong, but it will take people time to adapt. I’ve been killed by a few now, and sure when you actually fall into their trap it hurts…A LOT, but it is balanced as a whole with the rest of the game mode. I do not feel that matches with more enemy DH forces me to lose. In fact, I can usually (except when I go in with an all melee build) easily counter DH to the point of getting them to ragequit. The build is strong, but has low mobility, limited range capacity, and very few stunbreaks. If you can’t lure them off point with pressure, and cc/kill them, you should be looking at your build and playstyle. Things have changed, and I think it will feel right by the time ranked shows up. But who knows, they might nerf it more due to low mmr players who are at a serious disadvantage in terms of skill to reward when fighting DH trappers. However, when players start to learn the tricks, the DH trapper build becomes a lot less good.
I love how the title of this is “I’m never one to complain”
and then the first post is a complaint.
DH is balanced. a trap is a trap because it is a trap. You just need to learn to dodge untelegraphed attacks.
Like mesmer stealthbombs.
or backstabs.

I used to think (build op, pls nerf) like you, but then I took a nerf to the knee.

There have been several times that I have been unable to dodge if I get caught in the traps. I spam the dodge button and nothing happens.
It’s not just the Dragon Hunter that has been balanced poorly. Ever played staff ele in PvP? Yesterday I got destroyed by a reaper with 5-6k cleaves and 1-shot by a Daredevil with a 11k vault and a 6k uppercut following.
Meanwhile on staff ele it takes 3-4 seconds to channel any kittening skill that does 40% that damage. GW2 skill/class balance is soooooo bad now.

That’s what I’m saying. It used to be viable, right now it isn’t much.
Edit: oh I got moa’d twice in a row too and melted from full hp to 0 while in moa. Great stuff, really balanced.

5-6K cleave on Reaper is Gravedigger spam. Either that or your cleave numbers might be exaggerated?
Anyways, I agree that virtually all of the elite specs need to be brought down in some fashion.

I can achieve 5-6k on third hit of either GS or RS 1 chains. 10kish with gravedigger… In pvt gear.. Not always on but squishies and I have to get my 25 vuln/might up.
I think a lot of the issue with these traps is HOW you avoid them. When I first ran across a DH I knew nothing about it and got wasted.. Next fight against him I thought “ok well I know he’s laying traps on point so I’ll dodge them”.. Well that didn’t work, I dodged into the trap like I would marks or any other traps and still got hit..
Did not take me long to realize you need to set off the trap THEN dodge it because it doesn’t activate it’s damage right away.

The quote from XilliX above makes a 5-6k cleave sound common, when its clear that it can only occur under a special set of circumstances (crit+lots of might and vuln). In any case, the 3rd AA chain of GS and Shroud have damage coefficients of 1.4 and 1.2 respectively, which isn’t impressive compared to any other damage coefficients from auto-attacks or otherwise. Are we really supporting that Reaper (GS!) AA is OP now? I think not…

I think you assume a lot of things in that little paragraph but that’s ok I guess. I was just clearing up that it’s possible, and did in fact make very clear that it’s special circumstance (ducks in a row) to make it happen.
I never said anything was OP. I do like the GS though after giving it a chance and getting used to it. I do think AA is lacking but I’ve played a lot of slow weapons in this game I don’t think the speed is a big as an issue as most people are saying. I’ve seen good suggestions to improve the AA (range, chill to 2nd hit etc) but that is another topic.
