If All the meta's fought in their prime...
Assuming no nerfs were applied to the meta, then engineer 100 nades
Well for starters this isn’t the whole meta this game has ever had. You’re missing quite a lot of builds. Notoriously the condition ones; of which, pretty much dominated the meta for a long time.
It would be interesting to say the least. But after it’s all said and done, that celestial trio will probably still out perform many classes. This is in part Conquest’s fault, influencing self sustaining classes to stay on their controlled point longer.

The old metas are mostly all obsolete because of this crazy condi cleanse all over your face while doing huge AoE damage meta. Many of them never even got nerfed, they just don’t work as well anymore. I.e. spirits are just as strong as they ever were, but now the AoE obliterates the spirits and the condis get cleanse instantly.
Pistol whip thief at launch. <3 That kitten with old quickness was insanely op.
Good times! XD
Well you can’t mention the PW Haste build from launch and forget about the Quick spam SB Ranger from launch. 25 bleeds in ~3 secs. Lol good times.
And the ranger could get 24 secs of Quickness every minute O.O
How is everyone forgetting the Beastmastery Ranger builds where the pets hit like trucks and they had perma regen and were super bunkery?
That was the best of both worlds.

^ The only time ranger could have everything on 1 build.
Am I good?… I’m good.

Don’t forget the unlimited leash range of pets! 1v3 Far Point + destroying treb at the same time! :p

Who would win a tournament of every meta this game has had? There’s been a lot of changes to gw2 on all classes, I’m just curious what would be the ultimate meta in the prime of their classes.
Some examples of each class are…
Warrior – Hambow, Axe/Sword Longbow, Shoutbow
Necro- Condition/Power
Thief- SD/ DP(panic)/ DP(crit)
Ranger- Power/Traps/Spirits/Sustain condi
Guardian- Bunker/Meditiation
Elementalist- Fresh air/DD
Engineer- Condition/Celestial/Turrets
Mesmer- ShatterThere’s been some known comps that have won major tournaments and I’m very interested in the opinions on which one was the strongest and would win a tournament of overall comps.
You forgot about these builds: ranger beast master, mesmer tanky/dps phantasm, thief d/d insta kill, war a/s + gs burst down and vampiric necro.

My Necromancer with Epidemic loved that build. I could hug you and praise you for running that. Such a boost to condition burst!
I liked when Corrupt Boon had it’s full strenght. Shutdown of pesky D/D clerics and bunker guardians. Bait cooldowns, CB, watch them melt and panic.
Aaand when Epidemic had no AoE limit. That was crazy.

The problem with the builds at their ‘prime’ is many of them were just difficult for player to deal with especially when many were still learning to play. Recall at one time hundred blades was godly not because it was exceptionally powerful, but people did not know what to do about it. However as the player base skill level improves there is strange place that longer term players get stuck on, the concept of remember when X was good/overpowered.
Idk guardian before the great healing nerf, remember all guardians are healing only 50% of what they had pre nerf, also the retal nerf guardian could at one time take out treb from retal alone

engineer 100nades, hands down. Good times xD

When Epidemic had no AoE limit, I use to have so much fun trying to defend stuff in WvW by myself. Now it’s just sort of sad unless you run a condi party and try to call targets to epidemic.

Man oh man, in the days that this game actually meant something to me and felt rewarding…
