Sharks With Lazers [PEW]
I’m betting you will see bunker ele pushing bunker guards for that role at mid. They will have more evasion, equivalent amount of cleansing, more cc of the opponent, the capability to secure stab-stomps every 10-12 s, great boon-sharing for the team, and fields that can be finished for huge effect if played well.
Combined with guard vigor reduction, and the ability for ele bunker to take energy + intelligence sigil (to proc renewing stamina for perma-vigor), and lower CD’s on armor of earth put the power levels close to one-another.
A tanky s/f or d/d ele build could also push on hambow for side-node spot, especially with stone-heart giving them even stronger presence vs. thieves and longbow being fixed.
Thief will still be nearly mandatory, however. I also think most teams will choose engies over necros if they want condi-pressure, as engies have much greater self-survivability even though they lose the mirror-match with necros.
I won’t speak for the other professions, even though I understand them well enough, I don’t have an intimate enough understanding of their strengths/weaknesses to project how some of these changes are gonna play out.
The meta will change after the April 15th patch. For the tournament though, I think we will see very similar classes played as today. I doubt a lot of established teams are going to change a lot 2 weeks before the tournament.

i rem. during guild wars 1 top guild will run meta build but guild like the last pride will run balance build and still won. those kind of players are gone in gw2. they prefer playing OP build because they rather win honorless than not win at all.

decap engi sucks in high level teamplay. Its only good for soloq
vVv played a “Decap Engi” in their comp and it kind of worked. Extremely cheesy though. Their whole comp revolved around being annoyingly tanky and just never loosing points.

GW1 had healers tho. GW2 is “build how you want” which ends up being a lot less organized. They traded customization for standardized classes, which can safely be said has backfired in a bad way for PvP.

I think its certain both teams will have a thief.
Probably its certain both teams will have a guardian.
Its interesting how there’s loads of qq about other classes but both those classes are just accepted, ‘as the meta’ and all other classes revolve/play around them.
