MMR is not working
I’ve been convinced for awhile now that some accounts are simply on a “kitten list” within the server and are flagged to get bad matches.
I really dont understand how you can think like this. Youre just blaming the system for your own shortcomings.
I mean i get kitten teammates aswell. People that dont dodge (at all) for example or rush boss solo + early on foefire. The other day i had a discussion with a new player who insisted that zerker amu power ranger with 0 def uttis was viable. He claimed that with the right comp it was very viable… eventho he got literally one shot by thieves and mesmers in the game i was in. He doesnt realize that his “amazing build/setup” only works vs teams that dont focus him at all (which will rarely happen vs anyone decent.
In my honest oppinion its all about going with the flow. Adjusting to whatever your teammates find viable splits and strats. In most cases it impossible to convince them otherwise so its better to just go with it. Especially during the weekend where most younger and super casual players play the games tend to be “different”. So you need to adjust even if it goes against the most logical strats.
In all honesty…my win % is lower during the weekend aswell. Im less usefull as thief during those matches since my refuge + ress for example is useless. During the weekend people will autoattack out of stealth when downed in 99% of the cases. This happens eventho i always tell them up front that they shouldnt do this.
At times im forced to play as somewhat of a brawler as thief since the rest of the team doesnt focuss on getting and holding points at all. Since they prefer sticking to 4vs3 bunkery opponents on a fully neuted mid point for example.
But still despite all that im always above 50% as solo queuer and i never get huge losing streaks on either account. And i think there are 100s like me…. Its all about adjusting and finding ways to make your team win. I dont consider myselve top tier even, im far to casual for that atm. But im experienced enough to find those ways to win even in situations or games where your teammates resemble a pack of rabid dogs that just hit or zerg whatever comes in front fo them.

Ah yes, the “The server has a grudge against me, and that’s why I lose” excuse. Classic.

I’ve been in bad streaks but that’s just really left field. It’s something you’d expect someone tripping on acid would say. Not saying you are but it’s just way out there.
What’s weird is what if that’s really the case. lmao. Most likely not though.
I really hope there are changes coming on the 23rd…

MMR is working.
Just play right class with right build.
And SoloQ is yours~
Problem is that ppl will always blame everything but themselves. While in reality its their own mechanical skill or lack of mapawarness thats the problem.
Simple example:
Temple match just now vs a team with a lot of sustain. At the start of the match our warrior starts comlaining about sucky MMR and how unlucky he was…
The opposing team end up winning mid but we get far. One of their MM necros camps mid tho which in theory makes it an easy game. Its basicly 5v4 on side points if he stays on mid right?
It wouldve been if it wasnt for the warrior who insisted in going mid after seeing the necro afk on mid for like 2-3 mins. I even said it in chat: if u dont go mid its 5v4. But ye he was so unlucky with matchmaking etc.
We ended up winning but it couldve been so much easier if it wasnt for that warrior. Im 100% sure that his lack of awareness costed him so many games.

Its been explained enough times that the system should take this into acount to give everyone a 50% win ratio.

Aliera Zero – Guardian / Reaver Zero – Necro
I for a casual pvp player (i play when i feel like) agree that mmr system is not working as intended sometimes, and id blame is the need of the system to give you a match due lack of players (imo) and things go worse when is call of the mists now ill give you a pretty escenario:
I queue as necromancer, nothing weird here, after endless legacy of foefire maps beign picked 7/10 everytime, (for some reason)solo, got paired with 4 guys, 2 warriors, 1 ele and i think 1 guardian dont remember well, i voice that im going home and rotate between home and mid, 0 answers now i notice eles had staff, warrior had axe mace and guardian mace torch, i did mind my own business because reasons then i notice everyone had either dungeon master or dungeoneer tittle in my team, match starts, the premade runs straight enemy gate, then lord they wipe somehow because only thief went to help his lord, they respawn and go again, this keeps going while i just manage to decap home and sometimes mid, the score? 79 to 500, pve team couldnt kill the lord and 3 members with 0 points
so yeah there is something really odd happening with matchmaking paired with call of the mists, i mean im not a pvp player but my worst games are when that buff is active i get so many pve players that are clueless

Did I say anything about myself? No, I did not.
I’m talking about someone who sees things from the perspective of a Guild Leader, viewing people’s win/lose rates in contrast to how good of player’s they actually are or aren’t.
I see many good players who que matches and get screw job matches almost always. Then players who are half their skill level/understanding of conquest, that que and get easy win matches, most of the time. This is something that has been consistent for the past two years with almost every player that I know.
Don’t be so quaint when reading my posts.
Im playing alot of PvP at the moment. And tbh, somtimes i hate that system. I would love to have longer q for having better games. yesterday as an example.
our team had two thiefs. Not so good. But both thiefs absolutly sucked. they pushed into teamfights and died. they fought together against one thief and died. the rage in the chat was real and both left. I whispered one of them and he told me that he is new in the game and played first time on thief.
how can it happen that im getting pared with him. im rank 80 and have a win ratio round about 60% with over 1000 games allready played. i played on my main.
THis is nothing new for me at the moment. there are many matches were my team wins 500 to 100 or we loose like that. its not close or fair. its just a waste of time to get in these matches. i dont care if i loose if the match was nice and close. but to get crushed or crush the opponents is nothing i am looking for.
Longer queues usually equal terrible games for me. However, now they are all terrible.

I think something changed in the last week. My queue has been popping in about 30s and I am ending up being teamed with newer players most of the time. Not sure what happened, I think something got messed up recently.

Call of the mists buff brought in a bunch of PvE players
@OP:
MMR works perfectly fine. What is broken is that ANET has added a bunch of other stuff to the matchmaking that does not work. It players too high of a result on PvP rank instead of actual game play results and also does not factor in the specific class you are playing. Essentially when all those people play the “daily” class, they likely aren’t as good at it as their main, and yet matchmaking doesn’t take that into account.
Too bad the name I Hate My Teammates is taken already
I Hate Dumb Teams – nec
Wow, I just waited 8 minutes in unranked to be put in a team that didn’t even know you were supposed to cap points. They just ran around fighting. lol

I have another theory.
SoloQ was removed around the time the 1st pvp test ladder took place. When you solo queued for ranked back then, there were more pvp veterans around that ended up in your team.
The pvp veteran population may have taken a huge dive. One example is the activity on the pvp forums. Also, around the first test ladder season na prime, my contact list had 20+ logged on and 80% were in hotm. Today, it’s only between 3-5 online na prime.
Take that into consideration plus MMR being wonky.

I highly doubt arena net made such a profound change because a couple of you buddies decided to quit. considering that the majority of players are not not pvp “veterans” (whatever that means), what you are saying is nothing.

Its a theory. Calm down, stay off the uppers. The changes they made could have something to do with what I said. Also I’m not seeing the profound changes you are talking of. You sure you play the same game?

A pvp veteran is something you are not. Considering you don’t recognize their decline and can’t differentiate them with the influx of newer players.

Believe it or not, I don’t actually care whether I fall under some arbitrary category.
In any case, there is a fine line between not recognizing their “decline” AND NOT giving a flying kittening about their decline. People quit games all the time and life goes on.
Their decline doesn’t impact me in any meaningful way. I mean if it did, I would be playing so other game.
The point being
I have another theory.

I kinda agree with your theory in that there are fewer skilled regulars that queue anymore. I hope expac changes that. But solo Q isn’t as fun these days as it used to when the “usual suspects” were a part of the pvp pool.
There was a time when I was familiar with half of the people in a solo Q match. We’d tell each other who to watch for, what build they play etc etc. Now I mostly see new names.
EU Scrub
BTW nothing wrong with new names. If they stick, just give them enough time to catch up to be useful teammates. Once their skills “mature” hopefully we see fewer mismatched games or long losing streaks.
