Wasn’t this what the whole pvp revamp was supposed to do? Why do we have to wait for another revamp to fix the problems with this revamp?
Teams must have games even if mostly low level soloers are in the queue. It’s the law. Soloers are strongly “encouraged” to form teams and get Teamspeak.
Solo Q does not form teams needed for ESports. I believe this is the word from the head office.

E-sports are never going to happen if the game scares away casual players who are needed to create critical mass.
This discussion already happened two years ago. It’s what makes this so frustrating. I thought this issue was settled. The PvP matchmaking revamp actually took this game two years back.
I agree but I think this may be a decision handed down from management above the PvP team. Just surmising.

I think the matchmaking algorithm values MMR much more than classes. Because of the new daily system (today’s being getting a win with Mesmers/Warriors), there are a lot more people playing those classes. I can understand why the matchmaking system is allowing this to happen. xD

I didn’t even know there was a daily something (I don’t give a single kitten to pve crap) but it’s good to know…so you can just que up with hardcounters then. Let’s wait for engi’s day and everyone going necro lel
Sometimes. I like to think of me as a little 4 y/o on Christmas.
And I just wish to the Santa Claus. Please. Please let my team mates know how to rotate. That’s all I ask for.

This merging buisness is just silly, sure tehres more players, but id rather wait 10minutes between every match and have it be fun, enjoyable, and challenging.
Than wait for 30-120seconds, and get a blowout match 4/5 games. because im on a team with 2 people queuing together, and 3 randoms. against a 5man party with coms.
now i don’t care wetehr we loose, or win in such a scenario – it’s NOT FUN.

I have to agree, I have lost something like a dozen in a row tonight. Players moaning that I’m a burden and should go back to pve. So PvP is toxic for me tonight on two counts, spending 3ish hours without a single win and listening to my fellow players whine.
While I admit not being a top shelf competitor, I am Shark rank.. so am not a noob. I’ve been badly overmatched all night.
It seems that I’m in pug v. team scenarios often as well. It may simply be that I keep getting matched against much higher level players.
If it’s ANET’s goal to discourage PvP.. I’d say the matching system is on the right track.

I think that huge part for this chaos matchmaking is responsible dividing MMR to each character slot individually. I don’t know how they did it, did they just allocated account MMR to your main character(most played games for example) and others characters got 0 MMR?
People that play multiple characters will likely be very hard affected by this change. And this is just mistake, people with multiple characters will need huge amount of time to achive same mmr on every character. By the way, not only class skill matter, what makes you good player is also how you think while playing and this is universal value for that reason you should have to “farm” mmr on every character from 0, this is just stupid idea.
This move shows that, game huge problem is balance. That is why current meta is celestial ele/ele/engi/engi. But blocking class change isn’t solution, solution is oposit of this. Make it team fortres style, you can change to any character while respawning. People will ballance match by yourself through changing to counter builds. Or at least give us ability to change skills while respawning.

I just lost points instead of gaining for two straight wins. Good job on the new system.
As a solo player of rank bear i keep getting matched against (not with) guild teams that are almost all (if not all) dragon rank!
I have no problem facing dragon players but if you are going to match me against entire teams of dragons, match me with a team of dragons as well. Instead you put together whatever is available at the time against teams like that for a sure loss.

About points, i have again doubts about how algorithm works. I won 2 games with friend. In those 2 games he earned more points than i did… Please check that algorithm again. Or again someone is messing up in point tables ? If so, please start working as a one team, because puting to live ladderboard when some of you AN developers didn’t know about it, doesn’t speak well. (i’m talking about pre beta phase for clarification).

You have lost games because of half premades.

Not sure how you came to the conclusion that real pvpers are either alone or solo.
The groups I faced in the last 24 hours included individuals at the top of the leaderboard, as well as members of some of the top few teams in NA. Then, to the OP’s point, I am matched with players on my team running things like all signet necro, people who were literally lost near the tranq buff in temple (minutes before the buff was there), people triple capping points, and other mistakes I won’t bother to describe but we’re quite bad all in ranked queue.
Every time I see it being “Team Roe” I’m super concerned, especially when I can tell that the other team has groups and mine does not.

I noticed that too yesterday except with warriors.
They need to change that daily to play a hotjoin as class x and win. Not just plain and simple win at any gamemode because they will go to ranked game and mess it all up. If you want people to play a ranked game just say play a ranked game and win.
The new match making is a joke, and I’m considering taking a break until this is fixed up.
Pre-patch, my team was decent. The enemy team was decent. Good players all around. They could fight, they could usually rotate decently. They’d even communicate. You even got to know some of them.
Pre-patch, leaderboards sucked. They were based on some level of MMR+decay. But at least many of the people near the top of the leaderboards you knew were, at the very least, decent players. I could take a couple week break from the game, drop in the leaderboards, win a few solo Qs, and get top 150-100 easily.
Now? I’ve solo Q’d maybe half a dozen times. Legitimately 80% of my matches have been me on a team with people that lost fights constantly. I can win 1v1s, 1v2s, and be the last one standing in group fights. But it tends to not help more often than not. I Not to mention I’m lucky if they have any grasp on the concept of rotations.
And the leaderboards now? I thought they meant next to nothing before. But now it’s nothing more than a blatant, skillless grind-fest. Hilarious, sad, worrisome, and frustrating.

Anet can you just mail me in game that I should quit pvp for good and give up on getting better in general? Because most of my “teammates” (Enemies on my team) do not know how to rotate, when to rotate, how to capture nodes, or even hold against 1v1s. It is absolutely trash that I just can’t play anymore. If i win, its because other teams have really inexperienced people who just started playing pvp. Decent match? out of many ranks matches I can count 1 or 2 even ones that made me feel good regardless of winning/losing.
In fact just be honest and tell majority of the playerbase to not play pvp anymore because this is just atrocious. So if I win a game, on next match I have to carry 3~4 inexperienced players who die to every single encounter or refuse to capture nodes?
BTW your matchmaking is also no help at all. Just check this out. A full, high rank MMR team against solo Qers. Very fair, considerate and well made.

Summed up perfectly. The issue MAINLY too large of a skill gap between players in the same game. Other than that the solo vs premade is also an issue but less serious.
It is a shame really. I don’t think they can fix it because longer queue times are unpractical because now you can’t leave heart of the mists OR your computer whilst waiting for a queue pop. I think pvp is dead forever.
The single biggest factor is the presence of a team, end of story. I see the same players solo and in teams getting stomped and doing the stomping respectively.
It’s not like their talent suddenly improves when they are teamed up. It’s really bad right now and it gives the premades a false impression of their own competence while at the same time denying then true competition.
The teams are not composed of better players. They should merely be matched against other teams who also have communication at their disposal and not have the built in trump card of facing solos that more than makes up for individual skill deficiencies.
Every team with 3 or more players should have to face a similar composition, then it’s a dice roll on which side gets the better solos or duo. Pure solo + duo teams should never be paired against an opposing team that includes a team of 3 or more, never.

I would rather play with other good players in a queue against a decent premade than be forced into a solo queue only game where I am playing with total noname pve ers. That is the point. Yes premade vs solo queue sucks but what sucks more is getting paired with people who are really bad.
The difference is skill level within a game is too large and it means no challenge.

The marked scenarios may be too imbalanced Yes, queue times would increase, match quality would also increase. Right now the situation is untenable, something needs to change.

aye, it may strongly felt that way when one is being brutally steam rolled by the other team. especially when the losing team is unable to win any even team fights 2 v 2, 3 v 3 etc, getting killed very quickly at every possible skirmish.
this happens very easily when a full glass team versus a full balanced sustain team.
the balanced sustain team will easily kill off all the glass members.
then it escalates very quickly.

It’s not a exclusive problem, as i can see most of the solo or duo players are facing more defeats now.
It’s becoming stressful to play sPvP again, if it was at least 2 1 1 1 v 3 2 of same MMR rank it would not be a problem, don’t care to lose some matches but to have my butt kicked against 5 high ranked MMR players most of the times, hm no.

My experience has been about the same solo joining in Unranked. Before the 12/16 update, I had about a 70% win rate solo in Unranked, now I’m struggling to maintain 50%, and that’s generous.

At the rate I’m going, I’m going to be under 30%. Thankfully I don’t care too much regarding overall stats, but I’d at least like to look somewhat competent. Here’s some of my favorites.
The majority of the complaints from these threads are solo players. The changes that the devs are implementing are mainly effecting that group. At this point it’s safe to say that solo queue matchmaking is non existent and steadily getting worse.
Unless you’re on an actual team, bad solo queu matchmaking is going to be here for awhile. Especially the daily, class specific rewards being allowed in team ranked pvp.

Still getting full solo teams vs full premades, and as if that wasn’t enough - full solo teams with not a single class capable of fighting on a point, vs a full premade abusing celestial might stacking. Strictly speaking, it was 2 lights+3 mediums (2 ele, 2 engi, 1 ranger) vs 3 lights+2mediums (2 mesmer, 1 necro, 1 thief, 1 ranger). But that’s not enough to consider to make it balanced, because elementalists can fight on points, mesmers can’t really, engineers often fight on points, and thieves almost always run berserker which can almost never can fight on a point.
Typing this another queue pop. Of course, another full solo group vs a full premade, and two of the guys on my team also complained of a full solo vs premade for their last match. It was alright while the leader boards were broken tbh. If that’s any indication, just turn the bloody thing back off. Cheesy premades won’t ruin the solo queuer’s time since they won’t care about PvPing? And leader board complains will cease because they won’t be broken - they just won’t exist. Win-win.

Needs more time to settle, might need to reduce the priority of queue pop though (atm its desperate to pop and so matches a lot of soloq with teamq groups) and I think something needs to reduce the value of just playing a game. Need to let it run its course though guys – not enough data for good matches yet.

ok never played GW2 for almost 1month and i tried SOLO Q (ranked) twice and we faced same team 2 d/d ele and 2cele engies and 1 thief and they seemed really organised they’re probably using vent/teamspeak or whatever. and i didnt try for 3rd cuz i know what will be the result
I just don’t like how many groups, especially full premades, I face with solo players. If that was fixed, this thread wouldn’t exist.
Right now, I am facing a team with a two-man and a three-man. I have five solo players on my team.
Is it specifically that you don’t like facing them, or that you don’t like feeling overwhelmed and losing to them? We can fight that problem from multiple angles. My preference is to avoid hard filters because they increase queue times and only bypass the issue rather than address it.

Almost every single game I have played has been a complete wipe for either myself or the enemy team since the new system went live. The player skill level is so unevenly distributed. I also frequently end up in teams with 2+ mesmers versus 2+ thieves. Premades are now the norm for pub stomping and leaderboard farming.
