Mesmers who cry about Warriors “taking less skill” are BAD PLAYERS who are all mechanics and have zero logic. Those classes are both brainless and I do agree that Warrior is the better class when you are good at this game.
However, to say Warrior is more brainless than Mesmer when those two classes spam invulnerability while cleaving is ignorant. Plain ignorant.

btw if they use blink well thats a cooldown right there so after the first 2 invis (1 torch, 2 decoy) those are on cooldown, then massinvis long long cooldown and long animation if they use portal, well 90 sec cooldown right there. u gotta be quick and smart if u wanna be a good mes otherwise u just die …a looot!Then i hit on the fly
But i don’t use my Decoy before the time, o wait some cc to use.And yes, Mesmer have team weight. He can dps, distract the enemy, heal, buff and clean allies, all this in this build.

- You don’t have “stealth up all the time”, you’ve got a few seconds every 90 seconds worth, because you eliminated the torch, a primary stealth source in a PU build.
- The zerker amulet makes it glassy, and it has virtually zero condition removal. So you will melt within 15 seconds of meeting a condi bomber, which is what 50%+ of players are running now.
- You need runes of the centaur for any mesmer PvP build where mobility is a priority.
Seems mostly like a “disposable” character meant to cause havoc and then die, in which case you’re better off forgetting about the defense and going for illusionist’s celerity and other offensive boosts so you can spam phantasms before you get nuked.
yeah agree with u . i would never run that build. 1200 toughness? if u get stunned only once , u will melt in 2 hits to nothing.
- Move Blade Training to master tier.
- Move Desperate Decoy to grandmaster tier.
- Move Empowered Mantra to adept tier.
- Move Deceptive Evasion to adept tier.I’d honestly have a hard time finding a mesmer who would oppose these changes. They would quite literally enable at least 2 or 3 different builds I’ve been trying to make work where I couldn’t fit in everything I wanted.
The idea of “nerfing” mesmers by reducing the cost of Deceptive Evasion is particularly hilarious.

the changes you suggested here might be the biggest buff a mesmer could receive and would only nerf a non-viable mesmer tpvp build which i have never seen in high end tpvp and which we will never see in high end tpvp
furthermore it shows that you have never played a single match with shatter mesmer ..are you sure you (as a warrior) should complain about mesmers?
if your team gets run over by such a lineup you should maybe consider working on your splits and tactics since you can easily outsustain your enemies while your thief can pressure both mesmers while they cant even stay on the point vs your double warrior lineup

Mesmer indeed is a very powerfull class. However, others like the necro, ranger or warrior just overshadow it.

I don’t want to offend you or anything, but as we played dual mesmer long enough, (your team obviously never did) we clearly know its strenghts and weaknesses. It’s definitely strong, but easily counterable if you split on three points as the mesmer will loose duells on point against the thief, the warrior and the ranger.
Take two brand new GW2 players who are in their first MMO. Put them in sPVP in a duel, one as a mesmer and one as a warrior. Anyone want to bet on the mesmer player winning?

Yes, mesmer is a class that need rework in terms of AI and stealth. A class having both of the main problems in the game was never a good sign.

those stealth mechanics have been in game since launch. people would just use different builds before pu got buffed. well u played mes for some hours. i’ve played mes over 2k hours and i have tried pretty much every build out ther, glam, triforce, shattere, osicat, immortal mes, phantasm, black water. during the warrior meta where all u saw was warriors and nothing else, i even tried a build that focused on countering warriors. so yeah pu is strong as u get to evade and fool the enemy, but just nerfing everything so we have less clones and les phantasms and all that will be hitting the core of our class, so in order for that to happen without destroying it , u gotta rework it. and like i said, im all for rework. id rather have viable aoe that is not ai based or doesnt rewuire clones. i’d like to have build options like glamour was where ai is not important. making a light armor class a duelist ai based class is not really the best idea, thats why in wvw the mes is a veil/tw bot because ai is terrible in wvw.
These Mesmers are just semiviable for pushing far and staying on treb. They cant defend (due to stealth) and they suck in teamfights (no need to explain)…
On top they aren’t even close to be best class in 1v1 – try condi warrior against them and hf watching them die…

Just took me like more than 1 hour to explain a person i met during a trollrun in hj who was new to mesmer and only r20 with spirit ranger (lol), how a standard 20 20 0 0 30 works. He never shattered (He rolled mez like 2 weeks ago) just randomly wrack around even with no clones up, he had the right build with right traits\runes and everything but just couldn’t get how shatter burst from other mesmers was achieved…started out with ileap.f3…then ileap.f3.dodge(Or decoy)..then ileap.f3.dodge.mirror and wrack..and left him at golems. Went back 2 hours later and he was not nearly fast enough to get someone with that, so we had some work on keybinds for faster combos and i went off promising him we’ll keep it up tomorrow since “Now just learn how to do all of this in less than 2 secs and tomorrow we’ll see other things cause you will never get someone good with a standard shatter combo without being smart, since if you just go like this it’s the most avoidable burst in all gw2” He was kinda demotivated and closed our conversation with something like “On my ranger was so easy compared to this…” …guess he never tried warrior lol
Now please tell me again how mesmer is noskill when you see spirit rangers, necros and warriors just randomly spamming around…
…funny thing is that i already know that after all this work when he would finally get to a decent level with shatter mez i’ll have to tell him shatter mesmer is almost unviable in tpvp cuz spam builds are just miles ahead on pretty much everything while being way more easy to play too.. XD
He’s going to learn by himself that…all is vain

I recently tried mesmer for the first time, looked up a build and went to test it out in a 1v1 king of the hill costum arena.
I won my first 6-7 duels even against a champ phantom and a rank 62 dps gaurd by pretty much just smashing my keyboard.

You probably got a worthless 1v1 build like some sort of lame phantasm or even worse a permastealth pu and both of those ARE NOT viable in tournaments, at all. Ppl really can’t understand that on this forum, when it comes to balance, noone is talking about 1v1 arenas cause noone gives a kitten bout 1v1. Tournaments are 5v5 and mesmer always had ONE viable build in tpvp that is dps shatter (Well seonsotix’s condition one is good…but still not good enough for not bringing a war instead imo..) so when we talk about mesmer HERE we talk about tournament builds not some fancy wvsw\dueling crap (And keep in mind that tpvp mesmers already have to bring team utilities too into their spec)….just like dps guardian for example…it’s strong in 1v1…really strong, and it’s still a pile of crap in tournament even if you can go “rambo mode” with it in all those kitten 1v1 servers…so is dps guardian strong? No, it isn’t…you can kill ppl in 1v1 arenas but since this game is not based on 1v1 dps guardian is worth nothing…like pu mesmer.

I feel contradictory, but this is probably as balanced as GW2 will be and is much more balanced than gw1 ever has been. Why can’t we just leave it they way it is and focus on new content like skills, weapons, runes, and sigils in order to increase variety. I’ve come to terms with the fact that every class has an overpowered build.

You should put “S” in your pvp. Holding / capping points =/= PvP and so yea in deathmatch pvp they have fully advantage.

nah that build is not a pu build tough, plus cleansing with what? this will heal allies, but where is condition cleaning? buff? pu? yes it is a nice build btw, but not what mes play atm in spvp. what im trying to say is that he is exaggerating a looot
Inspiration:
III – shatter gives vigor to allies
15 points minor trait – phantasms give regeneration to allies
X – Mantras heal allies.
XI – shatter removes conditions from allies.
The cleanse comes from XI. From shatter you give vigor and cleanse conditions.

Completely agree with sensotix…pu brings nothing in tpvp and just gives bads the ability to stay alive in hotjoin/zergs vs doors way more than they actually deserve…wish they completely remove pu replacing it with something helpful for tpvp viability…like stability (You know…wars everywhere, fear everywhere…), condition removal or something..we already have enough warriors, rangers, necros and so on able to stay alive and kill with 0 player skill involved (Bad thig is that, compared to pu mesmers, those builds are very tpvp viable too…and that’s even worse cause they led to a dumb “spam to win” pvp that already made most old good players quit this game bringing the whole competitive scenario to this agonizing sotg)

Fighting against a mesmer is a source of infinite frustration.
Against phantasm mesmers, if you are built glassy a single berserker hit or full unload hit will take out more half your HP. Unload Flurry combo will almost kill you if not outright kill you. How do you counter it? If you focus the Phantasms the Mesmer has free reign and by the time you kill a Phantasm the CD is already available for another Phantasm.
Thief burst with Pistol Whip I can deal with because the Thief has to put himself in a vulnerable spot. Mesmers can just stay miles away and do insane damage passively through phantasms. Mesmers unlike thiefs can do damage while stealthed with phantasms. They also have sources of invulnerability unlike thieves.
As for condi mesmer. Infinite confusion stacks, just do nothing and die from illusion bleeds or do something and die from confusion. Kill the illusions and get more condis on you. Get more condis on you if you attack the mesmer during the brief moments where they are not invulnerable or has no endurance or stealth. GG.

All classes can be frustrating. If you don’t feel frustrated playing someone, it usually means you are beating them easily.

Because a game should never be balanced around a non-organized play-mode. If the balance-changes of the OP would be made, this would have fatal consequences.

I tried this build and did well roaming and helping team allies. But i had problems with necros

That could work also, but how you cleanse allies with that build without nullfield or Mantra of Resolve?
You can do it with that build if you swap the signet for one of those things. (Null field its great to strip guardian boons, because they almost always fight on points.)
Because a game should never be balanced around a non-organized play-mode.
That’s your opinion. Not mine. And he wasn’t talking about “balancing” just removing a trait because he doesn’t like it.
We should be discussing how annoying is when they fill your screen with AI, just like with MM Necros, Spirit Rangers, and even Engineer’s elite or bomb/granade spam… that would be a more legitimate complaint. Some games get way overun by AI and particles that it becomes impossible to play properly at that point.
The only thing keeping PU Mesmers in check is the stealth decap change made many patches ago. They will definetly have to be adjusted if any new game mode arises that favors their playstyle though.
I also find the premise of ‘let your AI do the damage while you run around using defensive moves when needed’ an incredibly lame design choise, this is more of a personal opinion.

It’s ALL personal opinion, including the “AI filling your screen is annoying” part.
There are a bunch of classes in this game that use summons or their equivalent. It’s an inherent part of the game.
Mesmers who cry about Warriors “taking less skill” are BAD PLAYERS who are all mechanics and have zero logic. Those classes are both brainless and I do agree that Warrior is the better class when you are good at this game.
However, to say Warrior is more brainless than Mesmer when those two classes spam invulnerability while cleaving is ignorant. Plain ignorant.
lol mesmer brainless? play one?try to survive the cc meta and the long cooldowns. pu is strong but its defensive and yes very annoying, but i have no problems fighting other pu builds, because i know how they move i know their cooldowns, i know which is the real mes and i know the weak spots.

well this build is pretty much a support build and nothing else u got little to no power (1600power is nothing), no toughness and no condition dmg….. this build is pretty weak imo.
Fighting against a mesmer is a source of infinite frustration.
It’s supposed to be. That’s what an illusionist-type mage is all about.
All classes can be frustrating. If you don’t feel frustrated playing someone, it usually means you are beating them easily.
Mesmers are frustrating not because they are difficult to beat but because if you run a certain type of build they are just about impossible to beat. You need a specific build in order to counter mesmers, condi build or pet dependance build.
All classes can be a challenge to fight against if they play well, but for instance if I die to a thief I know exactly what I did wrong and what I should have done. If I fight against a mesmer (again with a certain kind of build, glassy direct damage build) there is nothing I could have done. If I fight against a Warrior, certainly it may be a lengthy encounter but I know that they don’t have any burst heal and their health pool is a stop watch counting their life expectancy, this btw is exactly the opposite of Guardian because guardian is more sustain heavy while warrior is mitigation heavy. Furthermore if it is a hambow warrior they have no escapes. Meanwhile mesmers can just stealth away if a fight is not going in their favor. Yes, thieves can too, but thieves don’t have so many invulnerability sources and have to stay in a vulnerable position in order to do damage. Thief’s squishyness and risk for reward factor is accentuated.

Isn’t a dueling build, but i am doing well with him
Is a variation of PU build, but giving some attention to team play and mobility.
If i enter in combat i can stack might to increase power and cond dmg. Also i can stack illusions to shatter (mind wrack or diversion) or let them be killed or replaced.
Actually i am using Nullfield, Blink and Decoy as utility.
- Stats isn’t all, i personally prefer skills.

I didn’t think elitism like that needed to be blatantly pointed out other than recognizing how stupid of a comment it was. What he wrote was the very definition of elitism – it’s not usable in tourny play because its easy to deal with, but people shouldn’t be able to play it regardless. My bad.
