Mesmer damage
My damage of my phantasm never changed, this is an unfair nerf since i just saw graphical bug like the gs autoattack that show incorrect numbers.

I must be in the minority on this, I didn’t have huge AI damage on my Mesmer or Ranger. Now; however I noticed that my phantasm damage is very lack luster as pure glass. Can anyone tell me how Phantasm damage is calculated?

Because distortion is Berserker Stance, Endure Pain, and Balanced Stance in one package. It boggles me that people think Warrior is brain dead with it’s invulnerabilities but Mesmer isn’t. Like seriously Mesmer takes skill? It’s so easy to count dodges while spamming dodges on this brain-dead excuse of a class. Even worse now that they enabled Knights amulet in sPVP. Add to the fact that that Mesmers can attack while spamming endurance dodge or any form of cheese for that matter, something will go wrong if they aren’t kept “UP”.
I guess balancing will always be pathetic when ANET is in charge of GW2.

There is currently a bug with all NPC damage in PvP being higher than intended. We are shooting to get this fixed before the Tournament of Legends.

Berserker Stance + Endure Pain + Balanced Stance = Stun breaker, 8 seconds of adrenaline gain, immunity to conditions, stability and swiftness and 4 seconds of damage immunity,
Distortion = 1 second of stability and immunity to conditions and damage per clone

I agree with this dude, mesmer much skill. Summon 3x phantasms that deal 7k each ,hide in stealth= GG. Im actually sorry for insulting MM necros and spirit rangers when Mesmer is THE faceroll class of the game.
I knew those mesmer phantasm where too good to be true. A single phantasm should never take half the health of anything, and a berserker was taking half health of full toughness elementalists, and those duelists were simply insane.
Mesmers just had to pop one and watch things go down while running around avoiding attacks like headless chickens.
That was simply unacceptable.

The problem was that we didn’t multiply the coefficients correctly. Good thing those nice mesmers indicated the arithmetical issue and that everything was working as intended.

On average before this fix I think my phantasms were hitting for 3-5k in a full zerk setup with strength runes.
Phantasm mesmer was anything but OP, its the one class you can dodge every big attack, as the mesmer must telegraph every summon, and you have a good idea when the next attack is coming. You’ll see 2 telegraphs for the 1st 2 and only 2 dps phantasms they have, then ~5-8 seconds after that those phantasms will attack again unless they are shattered or killed… which is plenty of time to regen endurance… unless you wasting dodge on auto attacks or something.
The real cancer is PU perma invis unkillable mesmers… which now with this nerf is all you are going to see, if you thought fighting phantasm mesmers was bad… just wait till that is all thats left. They are the epitome of frustration.

I don’t understand why people are posting stuff like this without stating what gear/setup they are in, I’m going to guess you have 0 toughness/0 vit + from gear/runes, because that’s exactly what I get hit for in zerk setup.
and that didn’t happen in 1 second, the mesmer has 2 swordsman on you… that’s ~10 seconds at least, then you eat an entire sword 1 chain and sword 2 channel, and had 2 swordsman leap you within 3 seconds, any class wearing zerk will die if you stand still for 3 seconds and give them 10-15 seconds setup time.

QA didn’t catch heartbleed, pretty sure they could have missed that one too. Joke aside, it would be interesting to see their workflow before they deploy their patches. I mean there is no PTR ( as far as I know?) so how exactly are they stress-testing all the features?
Man I thought I just sucked versus mesmer. I was getting chased down by summons and downed. I thought it was a L2P issue though so I didn’t say anything. I’m okay versus a mesmer on a point because of conditions, but if a 2v1 happens to me with minions that strong, I’m a goner.
Also I’m an engineer but I never used turrets so sorry if rocket turret was rocking you all like a hurricane. Also I fought a turret engi and wondered why flame turret took off a chunk of my hp. It was a bad day for PvP haha.

I said that the result from the wiki’s damage formula is 1k less than the damage the phantasms deal. I noticed this before the patch (Could mean that it was bugged before patch?) Some threads however are very misleading in saying that the phantasms use their own weapons with their own weapon strength. It was impossible to know if this was bugged or not and the same damage was being dealt pre-patch.
What does this tell you?
Damage on light armor golem after hotfix is approximately 1k less. Even though not as many people as before complain, I’m still getting QQs about the damage being too high. What does this tell you?
The funny thing about this whole thing (I’ve said this when it all begun in another thread) is that the phantasm build (even when bugged) deals LESS damage than a shatter build. But the shatter build doesn’t deal 10k damage with 1 hit, it deals 3k damage per hit (x4), so people don’t notice it.
I’ve tried using a shatter build (glass cannon) with power spike for spiking the enemy. Almost anyone would die after a single spike. Kinda hard to pull off though.

Good thing they insta-fixed a bug which gave us 800-1000 bonus damage on phantasms, but they can’t fix iWarden and some of the bugs that make the Mesmer pretty useless if not for its’ utility.
Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. Time to join the Thief bandwagon.

Yea because it’s working as intended now; they totally screwed up the damage calculation somehow, phantasm non-crits have just taken a blanket 50% damage reduction.
When you’re hitting a glass target for 1.8k with 20 might and 25 Vuln, there is a problem.

really? how is x2 attacks / 5 sec plenty of time? do you think dodge comes every 3 sec in this game? and then one has to watch for blurred frenzy on low cd?

The only way to land shatters vs good opponents is with stealth or blink. Kinda gets a bit meh.

I m not sure I follow. You said that the actual damage the phantasms were dealing was below what you would expect given the formula?

Well depending on what number “not as many people” stands for, that the hotfix did make a difference in the general playerbase ( not a meaningful thing necessarily).

That are a threat to thieves? Power necros… It’s so funny but often times a tainted shackles/life transfer combo will down a thief in stealth against a power necro. After that come trap rangers and condi engineers. Aoe condition damage just destroys thieves right now. Also d/d eles are pretty formidable again.
Sucks the most for honest Shatter mesmers like me :/

Highest warlock crit I’ve seen so far in game was 8k, on a thief, with 25 vuln (oh yea, sit in my chaos storm bro) and 19 might on me.Pro tips: Don’t sit in chaos storm, Each time you’re dazed? That’s 8 vuln. if you get 25 vuln on you, My auto attacks start hitting for 2.6k.
Haha wow the amount of junk in this post. First off, I said nothing about your skill. I only pointed out how the AI was doing way too much damage. You tried to play it off like it was only your shatters that were doing damage and pretended like I was sitting in your CS or some other stupid crap. If that’s true, why are you now on the forums complaining about the bug fix to NPCs? I thought it was your amazing skill at shattering that was killing players! Turns out I was right about AI damage wasn’t I? Second, you PMed me in game with nasty messages, not the other way around. Way to twist it around.
Anyway, I’ve been playing my mesmer after the hotfix and it’s just fine without the stupidly ridiculous damage and I’m not getting instantly killed when I play against one using any other profession. I’m glad ANET was so fast on this fix. If only they were this fast all the time.
Well I’m not that ‘told you so’ guy but many people have suggested as there are split differences in pve/wvw to spvp and the devs maybe made an oops somewhere along the line.
Although there is nothing bad about being wrong. If someone felt AI damage was working as intended either as a joke or affirmation of bad players having 1,000 condis on them or a mesmer having 25 stacks of might. .
Well, I no longer get one shotted by iswordsman on my zerk ele. Izerk and iduelist are easy to dodge or see comming and the rest of the phantasms pretty much require you to be afk. If I can’t one shot you with earthquake LF double arcana air swap/airburst you shouldn’t be able to press one button to have AI kill me without much effort on your side.
TL:DR, cry more now that AI doesn’t do more damage than a full mindwrack combo which requires more effort.
