Hello, i noticed there are some posts about down state in spvp, and how people are unhappy about that mechanic . Well the more people complain, the more chances there is that down state will be removed. I wana share my thought’s about it, in a different perspective. Down state works fine in pve and wvw, but in sPvP it is just a disaster.
I used to enjoy playing a glass canon thief, like sneaking up and dealing massive damage in short amount of time but the problem is, that it take’s longer to finish a downed player than alive one because I’m on cooldowns and some times on low hp, so I just have to run away and wait for my healing spell back, then I come back (lets say downed player is another thief) I press f , he teleports, I come down pres f, he goes stealth, then I press f and he is finaly down yay!! This is just a routine I know what he will do and I cant do anything to stop it. Sometimes it is faster just to dps him. Arena net often say that “spvp is highly skill based” well how much skill you need to press stealth and teleport from your 4 button skillbar ?? This makes pvp very casual and lame.
Another problem is that there is no 1v1, victory is determined by the amount of people and down state does no help for the minority. If you are lucky to kill 2 players alone you going to have a bad time finishing them. What is more cool quickly killing 2 ppl or making that extremely lame finishing move ? i hated it half year ago when i saw gameplay movie, i hate it now even more.
Down state balances classes ? lol some people say that, well I can really notice skilled player, every class has plenty of defense abilities and if you die fast it is your problem, pvp is pretty balanced here, compared to other mmo. (Well I am not entirely sure because there is no dueling in this game) I can easily kill some players with heartseeker spam, but agains skilled players, they just use their defensive abilities , I waste my iniciative and become in very bad position.
Down state promotes team work ? That’s probably the only benefit form this terrible idea. I always admire how there is no holy trinity, every one is on his own, then why I need to wait for someone to ress me ? when respawn is in few seconds away. I could be capping different base. I wish there be 5th skill on downs state like “Die and respawn”.
Another extremely annoying thing about down state is that after hard fight my teammate comes from nowhere and steals my kill.
There is no point of improving your skill or going up rank because it’s determined by not how well you play but how much you play, but we all here just to have some fun right ?
All I wana say that down state is such a fail every time a player is down I know what they will do and I can’t do anything about it, to make my game smooth and fast. They get entirely new hp bar and they are immune for couple sec while falling, that is just absolutely ridiculous. They even get 4 skill skillbar how casual is that ?? in skill based pvp new player would not even understand whut’s happening and keep dying over and over, but no gw2 is like friendly Disneyland, I would not be suprised if I could put flower on downed player instead making that lame finishing move. Every noob can use 4 skill bar and make hard time for others. In fast paced combat pvp down state is totally unacceptable.
So that’s it please share your thoughts. Because I am really curious what’s can be good said about down state. And if “Arena net” reads this, please if you think down state is necessary at least make some separate pvp games without down state or ad 5th “die” button on downed player. (sorry if I made grammar mistakes).
