Please stop saying lb ranger is fine because “ranger is the weakest class” or “ranger is not in the meta”. There are many many reasons for this that i won’t go into, but for now i will just state my opinion. Longbow on ranger is op / badly designed BUT the rest of ranger power based weapons are subpar. Look at people even using sword / dagger on power builds, even though they are condition weapons. Both GS, axe and warhorn need buffs, whereas longbow probably needs a slight nerf. At the moment there is very little reward for being in melee range (risk vs reward).

PS. there are of course other issues such as bad traits and etc…

Yes fire/air removal might be enough for thief. Otherwise some slight nerf in trickery. Most of thief traitlines are actually quite well balanced and all are used in different scenarios, but trickery is pretty much always used.

Yeah, lb ranger is badly designed but pu mes/turret engi and other cheese are how this game should look like . Out of them all ranger actually take at least some skill in high end pvp, if youre not careful you end up lying on ground in 2 seconds. Still waiting for stronghold to see all that cheese to pop up like mushrooms after a rain. In b4 10 pages of qq

Funny thing the ranger profession isn’t dominating the high end play, isn’t being selected as a stack-able profession, yet somehow it is ‘overpowered and needs adjusting’.

What does that say about profession that are in fact in the positions of dominance? Should they be nerfed into the ground to make the game mode more open to all potential compositions?

Overpowered is doing damage comparable to 100b + added damage,from not 1500,but 1700 range since that bug has been going on forever aswell,+ being able to move around while doing so aswell…That is op.Rapid fire in itself,the dmg,the range,the way their able to move around while using it,its op as kitten.Every idiot and his mother can down people with a ranger atm.Lock rangers in place when using rapid fire,disable them to move around while using rapid fire.Why does a skill like 100b has a self root applied but something as idiotic as rapid fire which does more dmg and has an insane range does not self root ?

cause by now thieves are in the worse then any class in figthing.
Sure, we can run away, decap and run in no time, but, speaking about fighting, we are kittens. In a 5vs5 we are dead in few seconds, we can just spike and run, spike and run.
In 1vs1 it is a pain to defeat maaaaany builds.
I love my thief, i’m playing with him since beta, but it’s much more easy to play every other class, except maybe ele, who gave me a bit of time to get how to play it well.

whoever say thieves are op, well, l2p guys…

@Darksyze: wtf are u talking about? who gives a kitten about thief definition? it’s an amazing class, the only one that fill his concept role 100%

Now now, warrior don’t start comparing things without full context, for that is the path to the complete destruction of your favored profession.

Or should every remotely similar option be rebalanced base on the perceived weakness.

Lordrosicky does QQ often and ask for nerfs, but we are regulairily in a state of imbalance where even if you cry "Perfect imbalance" we take super long to fluctuate, and there are not enough options.

Some of his posts I agree others I do not, but let’s discuss potentlly decent options and not disregard them only because of the individual who suggested them.

That being said. I think a nerf to initiative isn’t a terrible idea. A properly skilled thief will be only moderately affected, but it does increase the skill cap while not promoting spammy moves.

I think a few of the back ups are over kill, but having to use single target skills in LoS I think should be standard for both thief mesmer and guardian. And widthdraw could be base 20 seconds, or have it be interuptable.

I wouldn’t mind these changes being implemented, but if it turned out to make them wayyy to weak a buff to strait damage would make the risk and reward in line again.

while we at it please nerf ele heal and dmg by 50%, warrior HP by 50%, guardian dmg and heal by 20%, put 10 sec CD on kit swap for engi and make healing turret 30 sec CD… should i continue?

pvp is dominated by celestial classes and you ask for thief nerf… yeah great idea bro~

The game would actually be better without thieves. A lot of builds would open up.

I think i was making a valid point there.If you lock rangers into place while they use rapid fire,they have to be careful when to use it instead of simply able to use it wherever and whenever.It gives people a chance to get out of range aswell..so again the ranger actually has to use his brain before using rapid fire..Is the target in range ? am i able to fully unload rapid fire without making myself vulnerable ? is he close enough for every hit to land ? These are things the ranger doesn’t even has to think about atm.

Hear me out on this. What if Retal stacked intensity? Could do more per reflect but have a number of charges, would sorta streamline the damage, but make its more punishing in the short run. What you thank?!?

The fact you can say that s/d is a condition weapon shows that you know nothing about ranger… Please stop commenting on ranger if you are clueless of what you’re talking about.

Ranger staying in range is a CLASS MECHANIC, JUST LIKE MESMER. Stop using the melee theory of other classes and apply on a class that their main class mechanic is base on range. If we go power ranger, chances is that our sustain will not be as good as other power base melee classes like Guardian or Warrior. I can alos argue that why Warrior has great melee, yet having access to rifle F1 that can hit a line of foes for 16k in one shot. Plus Warrior’s GS cleave, dps, mobility is much better than Ranger’s GS.

LB is not broken because even when using longbow, ranger is still one of the weakest classes in PVP because the conquest mode does not favor long range at all, unless you’re playing map like Foefire.

Watch this and see if you can still spit out: “Ranger is OP!” or not.

But I would not ask for a Warrior’s rifle nerf, unlike you hypocrites who keep asking for nerf on one of the weakest classes because you guys want ranger to be useless forever. You meta classes get everything, enjoy everything, yet you still want to destroy even an underdog class, how can you guys be so merciless and hypocritical? Do you guys just want 5 meta classes to survive, and other 3 classes being completely trashed? Is that what you want?

Unlike you people, I for one, would always ask for IMPROVEMENTS OF THE CLASSES so they can BE ON PAR with the stronger specs, instead of asking for DESTRUCTION OF OTHER CLASSES like you guys kept on doing in the forum.

Here’s a novel thought:
Tweak/buff traits to draw people away from the SA line.

As it is now, we are pigeon holed into SA if we want any legit defense.

You’re in the wrong forum section, this is not WvW, the only build that even uses the SA line is Panic Strike D/P and even that one only puts 2 points into that.

I assume you mean the graphical bug where several abilities they do cause their characters to go invisible? They need to fix that stuff asap…

Was there any difference in terrain elevation? If anything stairs need nerfing badly. That and grass, obstructing when the mode takes it.

Ranger should have same exact range as Mesmer.

It does untraited, but if you make it that way, Rangers would suck more. Cmon I main mesmer, but you gotta show some sympathy to other classes too. Rangers are in a bad state as it is. Mesmers and Necros too.

lol @ rangers are in a bad state. I wouldn’t put it that way. I would say they arnt fully optimal but not all parts of ranger are bad. The longbow damage is stupidly strong and just by pressing 1 and 2. They have a huge advantage on maps like temple and legacy.

Ranger needs more reworking because as it stands, power ranger is too rewarding for how little you put into it. Maybe this is the intent of the class though. I mean ranger specs in general have always had a kitten entry level that allow you to still pose a threat while having no real skill whatsoever(condi regen ranger, power).

Improvisation should be changed heavily. It is RNG to the max. Getting the refresh on deception = multiple shadow refuges/shadow steps a fight which is just game changing RNG.

I had an idea of how to nerf necro in a way that promotes fun and counter play. It may sound extreme but i have no doubt this change will keep necro op in gw2 pvp

My idea is to half all the extra health bars necros have. This way when a team works together to get the necro to 10% health, they cant just spam buttons to get a whole bar of health.

My back up ideas are to restrict wells to only off point, and to get rid of the channel on life siphon. In addition make necros lich form last at max 6s.

With these changes necro will still be op but might not be totally broken.

Also fear from necro should be half the fear duration and a necro should not be able to fear players who are invisible.

Thoughts?

P.s. i have ran these changes by a focus group of ppl i think and they all say they are good changes.

celestials already got nerfed with the nerf to might.

I mean, celestial is viable as long as you can buff yourself to make up for the lack of offensive stats. Nerfing might means celestial specs cannot output so much damage even when fully buffed. And it was a bad idea if you ask me, it favors passive stats over active play (getting buffs by blasting fire fields, support, etc)

I think many player’s issue with teef is not that it’s too strong, but that it’s not fun to fight.

Immobilize them? They can use SB 3 to evade for the duration.

Chill them? Hardly any real effect.

Interrupt a vital attack skill? They only lost initiative and can still use that skill again.

I don’t think many mind the idea of the stealthy killer or the evasive rogue, it’s when they are CONSTANTLY stealthing and CONSTANTLY evading.

I’m not opposed to teef getting some buffs in other areas if it means they get more enjoyable counterplay in others.

It’s really bizarre that people insist thieves aren’t a problem when they’ve been mandatory in every serious team since launch. What if the same was true for necromancers, elementalists, or engineers? People would be going crazy.

People are already going crazy when Ele are high priority and haven’t been the whole time. Lol but yeah; the denial is silly.

Teef mobility will still be superior to War until the Z axis teleports are properly fixed. So long as those can be abused War will be outclassed in mobility.
