So after a patch that in absoluteley no way brought eles in line with other classes, this new map just seems to be designed for them.
When a bunker ele picks up that orb even without a team mate supporting them they can very easily make it to a point on the map even under extreme focus of the other team. So all it takes is one ele to pick the orb another to support it and then you can still have three players capping. The team chasing the ele with the orb has absoluteley no chance of killing them before they get somewhere due to eles still being very very tanky and very very fast…

This map is yet another kick in the balls to the warrior as it is already forced to play its only viable build the Hurr Durr hundred blades burst as that is the only way it has any mobility around such a complex map. Warriors cannot take advantage of the rifle or longbow as they are both just weak… so its pidgeon holed into using melee weps of which the only one that gives the mobility required is the gs.

Personaly and from what ive heard i am not alone in thinking this. It is SO SO SO boring to have to fight someone who is so tanky that they never stand any chance of killing you and yet it will take you a LONG time to kill them, it doesnt require any skill from either player the tank just rolls his face accross his keyboard safe in knowledge that it takes atleast 2 people to bring him down and the balanced player knows he is only wasting time fighting what will not die… At the other end of the spectrum it is also SO SO SO boring to be killed in a split second before even the best players have any chance of reacting to these insane damage burst builds… How does that promote skillful play in any way?? its just a combo of the same few skills used over and over.. it does not show that the player making the kill is a good player or that the playing dying is a bad player at all. The only time a fight actually feels like a fight should is when two balanced built players face off as then every dodge, stun and skill of damage counts in the much more exciting fight of who will come out on top.

So for along time now ive had a huge belief that despite the dwindling numbers in PvP Anet could turn it around with some good updates… It doesnt even need mentioning the amount of core features to a PvP game are missing from GW2. GW1 had some great PvP features which although Anet keep saying this required stuff is coming i am now everyday startign to think it will be far to late for this game to stand any chance of becoming a successful esport.

To sum up:
New map = awefully well designed for bunker eles
Warriors still completely useless
Full on bunkers are boring and so are full on DPS burst builds.

Game has great potential but needs more core PvP features and needs far more then “tweaking” to fix balance.

EDIT:
I should have made it clear but all of my above comments are based on tpvp where both teams have five players and are on coms. So my comments about warriors being useless are also based on the fact that against a 5 player team all on TS they will always focus down a warrior first as they have very little in the way of defense and are so often as i mentioned running the gs build for hb burst. Yes hammer warrior is not a bad spec but it just does not fit in anyway into the meta of 5v5 currentley. The comment saying you beat eles on your ele and warrior is meaningless really.. ele vs ele is a fair fight and warriors will often burst anyone no matter what class if they are not focused down which they are against a decent team.

So none of my comments are based on hot join as i dont see that as spvp that it just pvp as it is not structured, its just a small group fighting another without any coms or tactics at all. Even in wvw there is more coms then in a hotjoin.

The first sentence i wrote in this edit also brings me to another point about the fact that now paids are gone there is no where for teams to play as a five and make sure they play against another team of five. As the tournements are all now solo joinable. So how is that in anyway going to promote the game as a competive source of PvP for esports?? Is this something that will be fixed with better matching making thats coming? Really a team of five should have 0% chance of facing any team with less than five if Anet wants to promote competitive play towards building an esport.

Would just like to add that i am just quite disapointed with how PvP has been handled when you look at the care PvE appears to have had. I have played a fair amount of pve aswell and it is a masterpeice compared to other mmos.
((lvls: 80, 46, 41, 19, 21, 2, 2) (rank 31 PvP) about 900hrs total)

Its not that they are ignoring us, it’s that we arent worth investing their time in. Please stay up to date with the realities of the communities PvP concerns, that way we can all work together with a focus on what we need in sPvP.

Eles are obviously too strong on this map. RTL will be changed soon though, so that helps a bit.

But this map, while nice looking, just encourages a problem instead of solving it: bunkers are too strong. This map needs 2+ bunkers and there is nothing fun about that stale requirment.

I think the point is that they can RTL to the orb at the start of a match, then commune it so fast that the rest does not have the time to interupt. And everybody melts under team focus but ele’s are tanky as well. They can use mist form without dropping the orb.

That yes, but you sure can’t survive smart focus as an ele unless you happen to be lucky. The key is to pull him off ledges.

However, yes RTL and Mist form should drop the orb just like Portal does. What the hell was Anet hinking?

All you need is guards imo. Last night my team went up against 4 guards and a hurr durr 100 blades and got smoked because the guards class is the only one with skills that prevent people from chasing the orb runner with all those lines of warding and bubbles. This type of pvp map puts the guards at a huge advantage imo.

New map isn’t PvP: all you need is 5 bunker guardians or eles and drag those orbs. I don’t see the point of that. Please delete the map.

Edit: to add: i’m in the PvP lobby atm and there are about 20 people there, instead of the perhaps 50 there were before. Looks like another mayor part of the PvPers has given up.

Remove this map or at least the orb. The pvp is already unbalanced, ok we can acceept this cause this is how the game goes but…..remove this map or at least the orb. Ele and guardian are op here. Once somewhere i read something like this from some dev “we don’t want the bunker build grow in …..” or something like that. Reaally? Remove this map or at least the orb.

Whilst Bunker Eles are good, they aren’t unkillable and when they are running the orb they even more vulnerable. Also Warriors are pretty good at running the orb.

I’m seeing a lot of Minion Master Necros lots of chills and other CC on minions, and weapon skills, even sigil procs. And I’m quite surprised that they’re quite effective at stopping orb runners.

So excited for other builds to emerge because of this new map.

No warrior build will be as good as guardian/ele is. Guards have the area of denial stuff and great bunker stuff, ele has best movement with great bunker stuff as well. What do Warriors have? All of our stuff is effected by slows/chill, conditions eat right through Endure Pain, one of the worst at condition removal, Hammer is easily beatable by ranged DPS, etc.

I sincerely just hate the map in general. In tPvP it promotes bunkers running the orb, as stated countless times above; in sPvP it promotes zerging because the map is so kitten small AND almost everyone wants to focus on the orb so the battle takes place right the in the middle 90% of the time.

I love the design of the map, but I hate the mechanics that come with it. Despise, loathe, detest, abhor, abominate, execrate, very much dislike this new map. And this is after coming off a break since December—I can only imagine how a new player would feel about it.

I like this map, finally something different then capping the point closest to u and zerg mid ( yes, if u play with randoms they will zerg mid 90% of the time). I do agree some classes are better at running the orb, and the ele will absolute dominate the first 30 sec/1 min because he can RTL to the orb. But the fact that the orb neutralizes points and gives bonus points is in my opinion a good addition to PvP as it seems like PvP is not focused on killed atm. ( i would like to see GvG like GW1 tho, where you allways go 5v5 with balanced teams (yes 8v8 in gw1) and if u can wipe the enemy team u can attack a Guild Lord, or with splits. Maybe add the flag in the game.)

Absolutely LOVE the new map, even though some classes are clearly favored to win against newbies (But its obvious that skills like RTL, mist form, and invulnerability skills will be nerfed for orb carriers).

I’ve never been a fan of simply standing on points and holding it, so this new capture-the-flag-like mode is something fresh and new. I hopped in to try this with 4 other guildies, all of us less than rank 15, and we had an awesome time. We tried various strategies like having 4 people escort the orb and one person back-capping (usually a thief or ele), or 2 bunkers, 2 burst, and an ele…At a certain point we realized that adapting in the middle of the match is extremely important. If the other team is much better at grabbing and delivering the orb, simply work on capping all the points and reducing their orb capture points. Other times we realized it was the opposite, and that we had no points at all, so we had to completely change our strategy. And of course there’s the craziness of actually grabbing the orb without getting hit…a combination of an Ele tornadoing foes + sanctuary + time warp seemed to work well, or alternatively a very sneaky thief.

TLDR; This new map is just that: NEW and FRESH, and something I wouldn’t even mind spectating, as opposed to the other relatively boring pvp maps. Fixes are required to make it more balanced, but I’m very happy with what ArenaNet has provided with this new map.
