Sorry for my English not being too good, I hope everyone understands what I wanted to share. I made an effort to make sure everything is clear.
I waited really long before creating this post, but I decided it’s time for it. I never thought of quitting Guild Wars 2 after just a few months from release. I spent five or six years, exclusively in PvP. I won gold trim, tons of silvers and spent long time on the ‘top’. I was against removing monks, interrupts and 5vs5 but w/e, nobody listened GW1 players, because WoW/MOBA people have to be made happy. Now, when 90% of initial playerbase have left (expecially those coming from GW1), it’s time to reflect on few things. One of my guildies quit after not having anything to play for. Play for QPs?! No, QPs are nothing. People want traditional rating with POINTS for WINs and LOSEs, not QPs which indicate only HOW MUCH I’VE BEEN PLAYING. The biggest Polish GW2 forums are dead, because 90% people have quit. Approximately 10% of PvP people who are still playing this game, are playing PvE (or log in hopelessly waiting for some SIGNIFICANT changes). I don’t know any TOP GW1 PvP player still playing this game. This says a lot…
1) Tournaments are a joke. I don’t understand why Anet removed standard ladder where everything was clear. You won, you received +x points, you lost, you lost some. It also allowedpeople to be matched with players on their level. New people were protected, because they wouldn’t play with players above their level. But no, Anet is obviously the wisest… now, people are being farmed in both Free and Paid Tournaments by ~6-7 teams. Great fun…
Firstly, Free and Paid Tournaments should be removed and Anet finally should apologise their players for creating this situation and we should get normal e-sport game.
So:
Ladder game where GUILDS!!! (NOT TEAMS) are playing for rank. If I’m winning, I’m playing against better opponents. If I’m losing, I’m being matched against relatively weaker opponents. That’s all, so easy and simple. If I decide this map is going to be my GUILD map I want to play on it. I click ready, match up and… let the fun begin. There is even place for gems reward. If a guild reaches a significant level of rating (for example 1200+), they can get gems like champion points in GW1.
Thing that should follow are daily ATs just like in GW1. If I lose, I don’t immediately lose a tournament. I want to play against other losers and still be able to get a second place!
And the last thing MAT’s.
After getting QPs from Daily AT’s, I can play MAT. You could create swiss tournament and after 1 week invite top 16 guilds for a big tournament. All you need is some effort, the right systems are there (created for GW1). Don’t make new ones that bear no sense.
2) Rewards from PvP.
Why when I play PvP I can’t sell ANYTHING? Can somebody explain to me why PvE players can farm gold and PvP players can’t? When I played GW1 I was winning Zaishen Keys, champion strongboxes and random gifts (cakes etc.) which I could sell in PvE. Why can’t I do it now? I won hundreds of tournaments and I didn’t earn anything of any practical use in either PvP nor PvE!
3) Game systems – I think you should create maps (or rather a game mode) where the goal is to kill the guild lord, not capture points. A map where I’m required to kill the lord, a map with flag stand, some kind of obelisks providing buffs and with a strong emphasis on defence of your base (NPCs?). It will be 100 times more interesting and engaging than boring and soulless point capturing.
Death Penalty (DP) was another good system in GW1. Now, when all you do is capturing points (on a side note, I remember Alliance Battles being CTP in GW1, not even considered a PvP and definitely not living up to PvP standards) is obsolete, but in a mode and a proper map where u don’t capture points you could definitely think about incorporating the DP. The game would become much more interesting with many more playstyles than guardian mid, sec guard/necro first point, tank ele third point and 2 roamers…
That’s all for now and I didn’t even get into anything about observer mode, GUILD halls and many other things, but at the moment there are more important concerns. So Anet, we are waiting for your answers, why is it impossible to make the game that we all want to play and why are you killing this game’s PvP community. If you haven’t named this game GUILD WARS, majority of PvP players would probably never buy it. Now is the time and chance to change the game to something people really want. Something, we – the players want, not what YOU WANT, but what WE want. WE, the people that bought this game, trusted you with their money, YOUR CUSTOMERS and PROVIDERS.
If you feel the same write here and let Anet see that people don’t like THEIR PvP and want real changes!
