Random idea popped into my head today, so why not have a creative discussion.

A minor stat scaling somewhere between 0.33 and 0.50% per 15 Lifesteal, so 560 Lifesteal is 12.32% to 18.66%. It would replace something like Vitality on Marauder, increasing the damage output of roles in that class, whilst increasing survivability only in the instance that the user is being aggressive.

HP pools would lock out thieves, elementalists and guardians – which isn’t nice, but perhaps those could be tinkered. For example:

Elementalist, Mesmer, Thief – 15k ish
Engi, Ranger, Necro – 16.5k ish
Guard, Warr, Rev – 18k ish

Maybe on all damage, maybe on critical damage, maybe on condition damage

Maybe true damage, maybe reduced by toughness, maybe reduce by vitality

many thoughts, such balance, wow.

Yes and no, assuming ArenaNet balanced it well to give equivalent sustain to healing/toughness/vitality.

So yes they’d probably mess it up.

ANet, balance? The recent update was supposed to be balance… and its actually not… more of a power creep buffing.

I’d hardly call the last patch power creep tbh. There was a few needs in there, some small buffs to AA damage and more corrupt boon on necro, not really much to be worried about.

BUT this isn’t really a suggestions forum, as the people involved in making such changes do not read it, so that’s irrelevant. So let’s discuss it.

btw this hypothetical stat would be OP af in pve unless split between pvp and pve
Anyway, it’d be really good against necros. pretty good against druids. and so-so to bad against other classes.

No. ArenaNet is extremaly afraid of life steal mechanic from GW1 and it’s Necromancer’s niche anyway. Why not design new Elite Specialization for Necromancer in a way which would let allies recover part of their health based on damage done for short time frame? We would have interesting support, different playstyle and all that without passive stat everyone would stack.

I’ve often wondered how sPvP would be if ANet, made everyone use skills that drawed from a mana pool and everyone had only 4 stats that they could put points into. Vitality (HP), Mana, Defense (which includes healing, but not really armor as it is right now), and Crit chance.

Every player would have 80 points to put into these 4 stats. Putting too much in one would make any points beyond 30 or 40 difference from the highest and lowest stats be null and void. Therefore, forcing a balance of sorts while not forcing people to run a specific balance. All other stats are not even viewable by players and are defaulted to the same rating no matter profession and armor tier grade.

And yeah, this would make things like Lifesteal attribute the OP’er wanted null and void. And get rid of the tanky and super DPS stats in amulets and runes. Meh… I know they won’t likely do it, but one can dream.

This stat would be broken against guardians, life steal hits even through blocks/immunes
