Guild Wars 2

This is a minor issue which epitomises what is wrong with things:

1, Stop trying to push this esports BS down our throats. The kittening shoutcaster programs that nobody even watches, the custom arenas nobody cares about, the spectator mode you dont even let us use outside of hotjoin.

2, Same old kitten – in entertainment I find the same old kitten to be dull, boring and lame. The same map 4 days in a row. Boring. Same game mode. Boring. Same ai dominated builds time after time. Boring. Same tiny asura models you cant see anything of. Boring. And now you are skipping a map we havent seen for ages for another 4 days of one we just had last week. Its crazy

3, And all this bs is for an esports scene which doesnt exist. How many regular teams are there? Like 4 in eu and na? There are only that many people who take this game seriously enough that it is everything to them to the point where they schedule around it as a group. So maybe 40 people and you pander to these people with the BS features and ideas they have but you forget about the other 3.9 million people who bought your game WHO JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN.

Stop trying to run before you can walk. Give us fun and variety. And stop working on kitten like custom arenas, spec mode and tournaments when the scene doesnt exist and nobody watches that bs.

your right of course, and compared the guild wars 1 the pvp variety is a mere shadow of its former glory, and as for ai driven builds i agree it ruins the game and to be honest evade on weapon skills really takes the fun out of fighting classes who dont break a sweat when your having to use every ounce of skill you posses just to win a 1v1, engineer sword dagger thief and spirit ranger are ruining the game for many people remove evades on weapon skills remove ressurect skills from ranger and engineer and please we need new modes of pvp, this is like alliance battle except people are forced to take it seriously what happened to the days when guild wars was known for having the most varied and enjoyable pvp compared to any MMORPG. What happened guys?

i agree and to add why cant we have shorter map rotation or a random map selection for each tournament. better yet a 2 round randomized map tournament.
playing the same map over and over gets rather dull.

In a video maybe 1 year ago, they statd that Pvp is in developement since the beginning, so roughly 5 years.

I think PvP had almost 0 resources and probably the PvP devs could do a ways better job.

They picked a goal, and that goal is e-sports, but haven’t got the resources for the 5-6 steps leading to the goal.

Like gamemodes, reward system, observer mode, LFg tool, templates.

how you can talk bout everyone? not everyone asked for this – not even alot asked for this.
and the games you say – sc2 – lol – cod – see something?

gw2 still is an mmorpg and has an mmorpg playerbase
This works fine with pve and wvw but for spvp they hired some moba + fps people which never played an mmorpg before – atleast it looks like

Maps should be rotated every hour. Or just constantly by a rng. It is laughable that this isn’t in the game.

Imagine if the next call of duty comes out and they are like…..we know not everyone loves domination but yeh lets just get rid of our other 14 game types and go from just domination. That will go down well. O and by the way guys, this different map everytime they play thing sucks right? Instead why dont we FORCE people to play the same map for 100 games in a row over the space of 4 days.

It boggles my mind that this is in the game. It also boggles my mind how this isnt one of the top issues. How is custom arenas above this? NOBODY USES CUSTOM ARENAS. Some teams “scrim” once a week. Maybe 10 scrims a week. LOL. Man….

These features were needed.

100% agree with OP. Allie I feel the message he was trying to convey is simply there is not enough players who care about these tournaments for you devs to make a decision that affects all spvp players.

Esports will never exist with the rate things are going( cmon 6 months + to implement a solo queue?) now you might as well let everyone have their maps and let spvp die slowly.

We didn’t want to spectate hotjoin heroes, we wanted to observe the most rated tournaments in an observer menu with a 5-10 mins delay.

We wanted to observe these tournaments as we want from the PoV we want, not hunting for shoutcasters on twitch and occassionally get lucky, just to never be able to see the part of the action you are intrested in. – If I want to learn how to play a good roamer engi, I don’t want to watch the bunker guard and midfight all the time.

Nobody, but nobody was asking for e-sport features, just some things that GW1 already had or from what the community as a whole could benefit.

Edit: basically, shoutcasters could stream the fan-made tournaments in custom arenas, and the community could have the simple on-going rated highrated tournament battles in an observer mode So both sides, the shoutcasters and the community too would have what they want.

Because who cares about strategy? Hell, what does it matter- every map’s the same, right?! The map doesn’t matter whatsoever.

Hell, let’s just make the map randomly change during tournament matches. That way we could actually see different maps.

A random map tournie and locked in builds would be great. You could even run sky hammer this way as people couldn’t use cheap builds.

The biggest problem here is that we play the same map for 3 days. If we cant have random maps can we at least have a much shorter turnaround. I would prefer something less than an hour.

lol custom arenas! dont make us laugh dude there are no tournament rewards for it and it doesnt go to your ranking and spectator mode in hotjoin, who wants to watch some baddie running the most inefficient and uncompetetive build, noone cares and they mean nothing all theyve done is remove content from pvp.

I would love a feature like in gw1 where each guild/team could choose their home map and the match was played on the map of the lower rated team. I hope they will give us such a feature with team ladder.. if you wanted to train on a specific map e.g. for a tournament, you just chose that map as your home map and gg
