Another conquest map I don’t think people want the same game play type.

Please give us something else like,

cap the flag

death match

hold the ball for points

hut ball

oh and please remove commander icon in spvp not fair to the spvpers that just pvp.

Well it seems they are adding flavor to the game mode to discourage bunkers, (if you just stand on the point you will never get the buffs or be able to contest them).

For me conquest is fun but it gets repetitive they need to mix it up at least for the casual pvp players like me.

Paids can keep conquest if that’s what the devs want the esport to be.

You know what would be great? Just a gladiator pit. Both teams are in cages, the cages open. Objective: Kill Them. And then you kill each other. It’s like… a PvP game, or something.

I bet if they put a standard TDM along Conquest and people had the option to choose, you’d see Conquest die out real kitten fast.

I honestly want them to stop adding content to things I didn’t want to begin with, and… you know, add what I want. It’s like getting a monopoly board for Christmas. You appreciate having it, you guess, but you’d really like a new console system. But then they keep buying you monopoly accessories. The History of Monopoly. Monopoly dice cozy. Monopoly OST. Just… stop it, with the Monopoly. I appreciate the effort, but I don’t want it. Your butthurtness over how my wants are “wrong” coupled with your inordinate fascination with Monopoly is beginning to get on my nerves.

Paids can keep conquest if that’s what the devs want the esport to be.

I agree sPvP has become too repetitive for casuals. I prefer SWTOR pvp to it which is something I never thought I’d say when GW2 launched.

People will get bored of TDM even faster than conquest. Afterall 8v8 hotjoin atm works exactly as TDM would, so…

The only way TDM could work is if they added some twists to it, or atleast items you could pick up, like in FPS games, like Quake, where you could pick armors, health packs, mega healths, quad damages, etc, so theres actually something teams can fight over.

Just pure TDM would die out in 2 weeks, it’s a completely boring play format. And don’t give me GW1’s RA and TA as a working example, because (T)DM was a completely different thing there, because there were actually classes in GW1 that had their role. At the moment GW2 only has 1 class – DPS. And that won’t change any time soon.

Reaper’s Rumble on halloween was an example of where Anet should put their efforts when it comes to pvp formats.

I said I would love it, not everyone, or even you. I wouldn’t get bored of it. It was my most played format in every game that offered it. It was the only format in BLC because BLC was the most purely skill based game I’ve played.

Formats that include elements like buffs, point capturing, NPC killing and logistical challenges all tend to equalize the playing field by putting less weight on winning fight in match victory. In my opinion those formats bridge skill gaps and cater to weaker players by adding more variables and therefore more possibility of randomness to a match.

TDM can have a ton of depth and nuance. But you’re right, it isn’t for everyone.

Conquest is fine, even its only one game mode. Yes, other gamemodes would be nice to have but not needed at this point.

What we need is matchmaking and ranking. Conquest will be totally different game once you will get matched against equally skilled players.

If we get (teoretically) any new game mode, like deathmatch for example.. you will end up in same boring situation.. just kill pugs and then wait.. rarelly you will get some good games but in fact there is no difference from conquest.

I believe we need matchmaking and ranking as priority.. and then anything else..

We just need some variety

If you get bored of conquest, play TDM
If you get bored of TDM, play CTF
If you get bored of CTF, then switch to Huttball (hey, one can dream)

etc.

I didn’t expect much for spvp in the update, I don;t expect much from ANet at all anymore. I just play when I’m bored now, maybe 15 minutes a day as opposed to hours a month or so ago. I think I spend more time surfing the forums then playing the game.

I like to pvp, yet I only casually play, those in my situation lose out imo since the maps are so repetitive, this one will just be added to it. I might take a little break and come back when there is more variety.

What worked in other games:

Defend/Capture base – TOR
Capture the Flag – WoW WSG
Control points, but with large teams – WoW AB
Private GvGuild sieges – AoC

tPvP should focus on a) guilds, after all this isn’t PUGWars; b) team coordination, not bunker builds and point control c) your own character

I would like to see a combination CTF/Conquest map.

3 points.

The only way to get a point is to take the flag and return it to your home base. But it takes 5 seconds of channeling to pick up a flag – so bunkers are still useful at stopping a pickup.

I’d beg to differ.
More structure in pug matches can only help…
I’m not a fan of team death match but this 3 point conquest is terrible to pug.
People randomly go to random places leaving it as more of a free for all than anything… and I for one play team PvP games to, you know, play with other people…

I really can’t get into this pug PvP like in any other game I’ve played, sure the higher end tourny groups and deuls are entertaining enough… but they tend to be few and far between.
Good combat mechanics, mediocre->bad everything else.
GW2 in a nutshell.

And yes, giving more maps can only help if they do it right… forcing everyone to cycle threw every map, even threw the ones they hate, is just bad.
They would have to redo the whole SPvP server system to actually give more than utter random pugging.
End of story.

An example of that would be to add tags to servers to guide people into the one they want [for certain ranks/skill, only certain maps, only certain classes, for duels, for scrims, exc.]

What do you guys think of this idea: I think that it could be implemented somewhat easily (although don’t quote me on that). I think something like making mini-games available from some of the pvp servers. A simple rotation of the existing mini-games would do. This would keep me playing around in the mist even when there’s nothing to do.

Sounds like you got that the wrong way round to me, weaker players have difficulty multitasking, lack awareness, take too long making decisions, often fail to communicate enough, etc, simplistic stuff like arena suits them, which you effectively get in other maps with team fights anyway.

Anyway back to the OP, yes it would be nice if they introduced some maps with different modes (for hot-join), it might also be nice if designed one to fit 16 peolpe not 10.
