Odds of victory...
I don’t believe you need to be favored to win to lose points if you lose. If the match was considered close to a toss up and you don’t score at least 400 aren’t you going to lose a point probably? I got to admit I don’t really pay attention to what happens after every match so maybe I’m wrong. I guess my point is I doubt your team was favored to win.

My guess is, since most top players snob the leaderboards anyway (for obvious reasons), most high-rated teams don’t have that stellar of an MMR, so the algorithm sees them as just average players together in a premade. Maybe 1-2 high rated players and the rest average, and then the algorith looks at your pugmade and says that, on the whole, you have much higher mmrs. But that’s just because you’re playing rated regularly.
I’d have to imagine that there isn’t really a way around this situation, short of manually adding a handicap to teams that place well in ESL/G4GW2/WTS
Both really lucid responses. Is it that unreasonable to increase mmr of players that do well in tournaments by a sizable amount? How can we stop solo players wih high mmr from having to work way harder to earn the same amount of points?
