“Updated condition damage. Previously, a condition that had a fractional remainder of time after it dealt damage would not inflict the rest of its damage. For example, a 1.5-second burn would deal 1 second of burning damage, then fail to inflict the remaining 0.5 seconds of burning. Conditions will now deal this fractional damage either at the beginning or end of their duration, depending on when the next damage pulse would occur and their remaining duration.”

Big buff especially in PVP where, you often had to spend a rune/sigil just to get that extra tick, when u were 5% short.

Yes, I know before u mostly still got the tick…

EDIT:
I just realized it isnt a buff. it doesnt increase your damage whatsoever.(for everything but the first condition aka 99.9% of all stuff) .
Still a nice change to make stuff more reliable and consistent.

I’m honestly worried that ANet didn’t actually realize that a 1.5s burn actually ticked twice a pretty significant amount of the time before. Did they just leave that out, or did they actually not know such an important mechanic?

As far as I understand it, this will simply normalize damage. Yes sometimes you got that extra tick on a 1.5 sec condi because it coincided with the tick checks, but others you’d miss the tick.

So rather than a theoretical 50/50 chance if you got that extra tick, it will now normalize to half a condi tick every time.

Yea, instead of

  • (100 + 0 ) + (100 + 100) = 300 you will now always get
  • (150) + (150) = 300

    i jumped a bit too early when reading it

Yeah, there was a post elsewhere where Jon explained it. The point was just to normalize the damage with every single application, instead of relying on averages to eventually normalize it.
