dear Arenanet could you be so nice and please reset or fix my MMR? …..

It can’t be that I get grouped up with 3-4 of the same classes in 5-6 out of all the matches I’ve played so far which is around ten games.

maybe use a better build or class first?

Stated with the changes to Season 2 PvP Matchmaking, matchmaking no longer focuses on MMR. Instead, it looks at your current division, then extends it by a pip range, and tries to match according to that.

If there’s too many of the same class, there’s enough time to switch to something else.

1. The game teaming you up with 2-3 of the same class has nothing to do with matchmaking, it’s just the fact that build diversity is kind of terrible right now. You’ll see reapers, scrappers and revenants everywhere.

2. The game fills your team up with people of the same MMR as you, so apparently you’re “utter beginner lvl pvp player” yourself or the matchmaking is broken. Personally I haven’t had any issues with it, so I can only assume it’s the former.

I quit after 40 straight losses in ranked…. it felt so nice to win a game that I cried (even if it was unranked) after putting up with ranked. I suggest you come home to unranked.

But yeah, maybe I really just do suck and won’t see it.

Maybe it’s just because you play warrior, then. I’ll argue against people saying the matchmaking is bad, but I won’t argue with people complaining about balance/diversity.

This matchmaking is the biggest bullkitten ever. Your team has the same mmr like you, but the other team can have a much higher or lower mmr. I don’t complain about balance, balance is fine, ok scrapper is really a bit over the top and reaper chill does get really frustrating, but I can totally live with that and play the game with those classes in my or the enemy team, it’s just annoying to have 2-3 sometimes even 4 of the same class in my team, being the warrior then sure doesn’t help, but I won’t change my class just so we be 5 of the same class, this would make no sense, those players just really most of the time don’t know how to rotate, decap or get buffs / kill lord, they’re straight up completly new in PvP and I don’t get why I constantly get teamed up with such players.

… because then you would never progress, because in every division there would be even matches form the start – all of you would stay amber forever (exaggerating a bit).

The system how it’s made this season shall allow good players to climb divisions up fast, so lower divisions are let alone, having even matches AFTER initial season start.

That way in a week all players get even matches in their division (in theory).

So if I am not a pro player, I won’t be matched against a pro player any more in a week, as he will most likely be some division above me.
AND I won’t have to be paired with beginners that hav to be carried out of spawn every single match either – because they are most likely some divisions below me.

From there, matches start to be fun then.

Well, if you get triple class stacking on your team and no one of them switches to another class, you can be sure they are bad. Ofc they can be just stabborn, but more likely they are bad.

I had a lot of such situations in S1 (I got diamond eventually though). In S2 I have continued win strike thus far.

Because it won’t always be like this. Once people sort into divisions it’ll get better, in theory. It’s important to remember that it’s the first time the system has been implemented in Guild Wars 2.

I just thought I’d finally be able to give a quick update on my situation and gameplay.

So, I’ve finally reached at last diamond divison, it took me an insane amount of games and hours to get there, mostly, as everyone already knows, due to the reallykitten*ed up matchmaking system this season is in place. I got hate from every corner no matter what, L2P, noob, casual, you belong in this division if you can’ progress and all that bullkitten you hear everywhere, cause “MMR Hell” doesn’t actually exist to all those fabulous players out there who went through all the divisons and games with ease and breeze, so I deserve all those losses and all those bad match ups and all those “bad” or well let’s rather say not so experienced players in my matches.

It took me around 400-500 matches with a playtime of around 4-6 hours a day to reach diamond with loss streaks of 10-20+games with some vague win streaks of 4-5 games in a row.

But let me honestly tell you, it does exist, I was one of the few unlucky ones which lost their first or first 2-3 matches at the beginning of this season and it straight went downhill from that point on, as I said before, I never considered myself the best player or on par with the ESL players or anything, but still, a fairly good player, so I thought I’d reach ruby / diamond with ease which I didn’t, I had to grind hardcore for it to be where I am now.

In the end I also was forced unfortunatly to leave my main class warrior behind and switch to necro to get any further within this league system since I just really couldn’t help or do much with my warrior in regards of carrying my team, since I still believe I was probably the highest MMR player on my team within the matches I got so far, so it was probably supposed to be my job to solely carry the whole team ahead with my warrior class which is just nowhere near the meta game curently.

I really don’t consider myself the best or greatest player there is of course, and I never went into this season, same as last season, expecting it would be easy and an free ride to legendary, never did think so and never expected so, but, since I’ve been playing since headstart GW2 PvP and I thought I know my fair share of PvP and classes and how they work etc., that I should at least be a little bit above average, so ruby / diamond at least, since I never fell below an average win % of around 52-53% during those 3 years.

But now, thanks to this season, my win % got downed to around 48-49%, which just put me in hell, I couldn’t get myself out there no matter what, I tried grouping up with friends, other classes, but nothing did work, especially since I just mained warrior since GW2 so it was kinda hard ot get into a new class, but after 3-4 days I finally managed to get the grasp of how necromancer work and finally managed to grind my way out of ruby divison into diamond divison.

And let me tell you one freaking thing, I just hit diamond about 1 hour ago, and I’m going on with an 10+ win streak right now, all of a sudden, in the high tier divison where it should’ve been even harder and more difficult, I find it much easier and better to win without a problem, I just lost 1 match, since I was writing this topic beside playin matches and I should’ve gone to sleep 2 hours ago since I have to work, but let me tell you, if I had time and a day off tomorrow and cared for this and the coming matches, I’d probably breeze through diamond right now.

So yeah, TL;DR: MMR Hell does exist and it is one kittening kitten time and effort to get yourself out of that hole if you don’t manage to play the right class in the current meta with good groups or friends.

And finally, after all this trouble and struggle, today, I managed to finally reach the legendary divison!

And you know what is funny about the whole thing? I only had win streaks and only very few losses in dia. divison after having 20-30+ loss streaks throughout the whole system until I finally made it to diamond.

And only 3 days in diamond I went through it like a breeze straight into legendary divison, with taking 1 day off in between cause I was getting wasted on day 1 or 2 and had to work the day afterwrads with an hardcore hangover so I had to skip / sleep trhough a day of PvP.

I had a similar experience (big loss streaks first few days, 10-12 loss in a row). But I switched to necro earlier and it didn’t take me as many games to win streak up (maybe 60-70 games). Had a really high win ratio in ruby (higher than in emerald. Like 80% until last tier, then more like 60%)

In diamond currently, did prof achieves, and now debating if I care about this kitten show of a season to try for legend.

@Naus the current system is so crappy that’s it’s going to be 100 time harder for you to get out. You are close from ruby and at this point kittens very easy for the system to group 5 8 and match them up against your team. The best way to level up would be to form a duo/trio depending on how low your MMR is actually.

For those who are really stuck with players that are obviously below them because the metric is off mark for them or the new players they are paired with (often both), it’s not merely a matter of switching build or getting keybinds. Yes, you can always do something to get that little extra in your favor but if ppl insist so much it is because it really is obvious and out of their control too often.

To those that pretend it will eventually get better let me express my sincere skepticism considering it’s not better yet and the season is almost over. If the formula doesn’t change and the ladder keep it’s safe guards why should I get different teammates when I soloq and expect different outcomes?

I’m glad for all of those ppl that enjoyed their experience, deserved or not, but I really did not enjoyed mine and will not submit myself to anything remotely similar ever again. If the algorithm continue to use the same metric and the same logic to assign teammates, soloq is over for me (which means pvp is nearly over period in my case).

well…you run just about the worst DH build i’ve ever seen so yea…

literally 0 out of the 5 utility skills on your bar should be used.

Thank you, it was a hell lot of work and dedication, I almost gave up once I’ve managed to reach diamond divison cause I thought I’d never be able to stand to go through such horrendous match ups again for another 7 tiers,not only 6 like in ruby but 7, I was like “Omg, never gonna happen!”, I’d never torture myself any further, but thanks to all those good matches and wins my spirit got lifted up once again and I pulled through and finally made it, so yeah, thanks again =)

@Sirbeaumerdier.3740 i had a mixed but easier time than most. Yet I still hated this season, and the meta is barely better than last. Condi mesmers and reapers are no fun to play against in this number. 1 on a team, sure. 4/5ths the team, …pls
