Guild Wars will apparently be getting a first-person view. sounds harmless right? well I say no just because of the part which lets you use it in any game mode. there are already bads in pvp, now imagine if they had no peripheral vision. It would be soloq hell! in a game with pvp like guild warts, 3rd person is necessary! pls if this is true, rethink the decision to make it enabled in pvp.

It’s intended to help out the creative players that want to make video content outside of guides. GW1 had a pretty healthy machinima community, I learned how to edit when I was younger because of it. Seeing it (potentially) come back makes me very happy.

If you don’t like the first person camera then just don’t use it.

Let’s be honest here the ones likely to use it in PvP were never going to be great players in the first place.

So it doesn’t really matter. I really wish they fixed the mouse option though.

I don’t see how this has anything to do with PvP.

what interests me is more the FoV stuff than the FPS view, with more FoV you’ll be able to see more of the battle field, and the going to do a sneaky decap will be harder, i’m really interested how this will play out

OP you should have focused on the benefits of the POV stuff that will make PvP better. Your opinion is valid, but I think your fears are unfounded. People are going to play how they feel comfortable playing.

Well not entirely true, guild wars 2 pvp is all about animations, an increased FoV will mean smaller characters thus less readable animations, we will see how this will play out.

I’m excited for the first person camera, in the GW1 days all I could manage were crummy montages. Now that I’m older and don’t have an obnoxious teenager voice I may try to do something a bit more creative.

I wanted to before but the logistics of it were always too frustrating.

It would be Awesome if “First Person View only” was a new custom Arena Option. Of course 3rd will always be advantages, but if you could restrict all to FP view you might have a fun Casual mode, with everyone playing under the same “dis-advantage.”

wont those players have terrible rating and therefore if you are any good you dont really have anything to worry about?

Im happy about this. Doing Jump puzzles as a char is harder then most because the huge character blocks the tiny path you are trying to jump on. Doing it in first person would be much easier.

This is something that players have been asking for for a very long time, and now they are getting it.

“But the devs don’t listen to the players!!!”
This is once again proof that they do. To quote the AC dungeon: “No one’s arguing about the need for a plan. Your plan is just stupid and won’t work.” Which is why many of the things that people say they want don’t get implemented….

Of course some people aren’t going to like it, but you can’t please everyone.
