Progressive PvP And/OR Guild Versus Guild
Everything about GW1 PvP was awesome, yet none of it was implemented in GW2. Outcome of that (leaving all great ideas rotting in gw1) is well know to us, barely no one plays GW2 PvP. You can’t argue with that. Keep in mind how many great players left long time ago, and how many new competitive guilds were formed lately ? Not many. Esports ? Give me a break.
deathmatch doesn’t work right in gw2 because the combat is based on super long cooldowns (dev’s words)

Sure, cause its easier to keep it that way and don’t implement other game modes instead of tweaking these long cooldown skills and adding other game modes.

Whats the problem with lowering power of skills as well as lowering cd ?

as if that would fix this pve game
You are right. This game has some serious development flaws. But that probably would never be fixed, so we can focus on things that could improve the game. My opinion is that more game mode variety could help bringing new players to PvP as well as PvEers. Of course huge balance and mechanics revamp would have to prelude it. Well lets dream on …

Anets efford to make this game a esport was best joke in anets history… yeah but if they want atleast somekind of playerbase in pvp they really have to improve the system.
They are improving the system but for some people it’s way too late and the content updates are too minor imho, anyone serious about tpvp ( and competitive play ) stopped playing 3-4 months into the game myself included.
They should implement new game modes , more maps ( no more sky hammer ) please , better rewards , better matchmaking , the long promised legendary addition and the list goes on.
GW2 is not just a PvE game , it has quite alot of PvP aswell just join the mists anytime of the day and see it for yourself.
Starcraft has one game mode, few maps, no rewards, and a simple ladder based matchmaking.
Counterstrike has maybe three very similar game modes (as GW2), few maps, no rewards and no matchmaking.
MOBAs have one game mode, VERY few maps, no rewards and simple ladder based matchmaking.
All those are successful esport games since years.
I could go on with more marginal game types that also have loads of international tournaments :
Soccer games : one game mode, no maps, no rewards, no matchmaking.
Fighting games : one game mode, one map, no rewards and sometimes basic ladder matchmaking.
Please guys, enough with your rocket science now. We don’t need all that crap to have a successful competitive game. We need a fun game to play, that allows good players to sit on bad players’ faces, and if possible that is enjoyable to watch. That’s it.
Quite sad when people have to explain to dev’s what kind of pvp is expected in a sequenced game ^^
E.A.D.

amen
gw2 is just not fun pvp

100% Agree, however GW1 had several game modes and all of them were kind of successful. So there isn’t a must to have one perfect game mode to succeed. Anet proved it, and for some reason they failed to do it again.

Rewards are straight from gw1, i wouldn’t really care about them.
Also if you only have one game mode its gotta be more variable, not that every game you have two bruisers, few dps and one thief. And if you have one game mode it has to be better than “alliance battles” it was the worst game mode in gw1 and its kitten and not fun in gw2.
The idea is that GW2 should be at least on pair of GW1 on PvP quality, and this games pvp is nowhere near good as it use to be in gw1…
ps. just want to get gw2 pvp to same level on quality as gw1 was.
