Does anyone use the chat as a way to influence the enemy team’s strategy?

For example, I sometimes cap their close undefended close point and say something like “Thank you red/blue team for leaving your point undefended”. This usually relieves some pressure at mid as the enemy team either sends two or three to the point (by which time I’m long gone), or (I’m guessing) screams at their “close holder” to not just leave the point, thereby getting some more favorable odds for us elsewhere on the map.

I’m thinking of other psychological tactics by saying stuff like “I think one red/blue team player is afk”. This isn’t easily verifiable and can cause the others to lose heart and the battle in the mind is already lost.

War on the mind is sometimes more effective than on the body. Combine the two and you got a force to be reckoned with.

I don’t personally go to that same level, but playing those cards is usually smart and tactical.

Duty is heavier than death.

Hehe, I was just going to post a topic like this, I will post something different than. I like to say things like “noobs can’t drop me” as I drag 3 of them away from the Graveyard point or something like that so my team can cap it. Most often ends in my death (sometimes not) but you’d be surprised how many allow the point to be capped right under their noses.

I typically make a sarcastic remark when people let me backcap to easily; like "
thnx bro thats nice of you" or “i would run from me aswell if i where you”. Happens far to often that ppl cap and run, letting me backcap the same point they just capped mere seconds after they left.

I normally do similar things like this in solo que, then again I’ve been told my actual playing and fighting style is very psychological so I guess I do it in combat as well?

“Thank you red/blue team for leaving your point undefended”Playing dirty?

Forcing the other team to notice that their home point is capped. It will increase enemy response times, and no one wants that.

Although, I will say that high level PvP (in any game) is more about being unpredictable and out-witting your opponent than it is about actual killing ability.

I guess I don’t play enough sPvP, but… are you saying opposite sides can actually communicate with each other during a match? Doesn’t sound like a good idea to me, and I don’t see how wasting time/energy on smack talk with the other team results in a better game. There’s a fine line between so-called “psychological warfare” and trolling, insults, griefing, etc.

I mean, that one guy above is literally saying he wants to “keep 1-2 people out of the game and into the argument.” Really? Your strategy is to annoy the other team to the point that they become disinterested in playing with you anymore? Sorry if I’m making it out to sound worse than it is, but all I can think of right now is the stereotypical 10-year-old kid screaming and swearing over Xbox Live.

And ANet wonders why more people don’t get into sPvP.
