Hi All,

For giggles what is the most noob or misleading thing you have done in PvP (Ranked or Unranked):
1) Pretended I am noob and it was my first PvP match ever whilst playing ranked – whilst displaying the reaper title prompting someone to rage quit the team. (guess they didn’t know PvP as the title kind of gives away I can’t be new)
2) Every time I killed someone typed ‘kaboom’

My first PvP match ever I was sure I have killed all the opposite team on my point. I didn’t know the class named Mesmer can make clones.

When went to WvW for a first time, I was thinking if I press this “Finish Them” message, all the people of the opposite zerg who are in down state will die.

After 1 month playing GW2 and after started to PvP, I still had no clue about the traits. Well, there was some red exclamation mark on my hero panel, but who cares. So I started to PvP with some default build I guess. Still wondering how it was so effective.

As an engi, I have (multiple times) tried to sneak past enemy players, but instead of tossing elixis S (stealth) I drop my supply crate on my own head. So much for not being seen! The worst was when I dropped it inside my own base. And now my elite is on cooldown. Yay me!! At least I can laugh about it, right?

I have on multiple occasions popped Shadow Refuge on already dead allies. This was when I was new to the game though.

I have also pretended to be a noob just for fun

Also, one time I took a portal back to the trebuchet, pressed F to use the trebuchet but used the portal again instead, the portal then disappeared and I had to run to the trebuchet just to find that someone had respawned and taken it.

Confession: I leave more than 75% of unranked games when I barely leave rankeds.
Confession two: I’m lately playing Spirit-Power Ranger with more than 70% win rate (Ranked).

I’m going to pretend this is a common engi problem and deny everything (cough cough). And as you pointed out, I failed to mention the worst part…teammates inevitably re-spawning and going “wtf??”

Coincidentally, it may have indeed happened to me a week or so ago. I can’t apologize enough. Did we win? I’ll just tell myself that we won…

Another confession – when I’m bored and none of my contacts are online, I sometimes troll ranked arenas with turret engi and focus on killing other turret engis with my own turret engi, which I pretty much always succeed in doing since most turret engis can’t dodge.

The game starts. Kyhlo map. I can`t move.
My team is doing great and is equal to the enemy team.
I know that I should help.
Press 5. Jump a few meters. Wait for the CD.
The goal was to reach the close cap and load the turrets.

You know you can move by holding down both mouse buttons? I do this while using my other hand to cram stuff in my mouth.

On my power ranger I equip deer finisher and once I stomp someone I shot the deer I’m a vegetarian but kinda a trash talker so PLEASE UNDERSTAND!

Playing a turret engi. I felt so guilty after that day, I learned how to (more or less) properly play an engi and other classes, trying to stay away from the cheese as much as possible.

imagining this is hilarious

the list is looong, i will start with simple stuff
- i thought anet cared about fair class balance in pvp… i was wrong, they follow the same business model like every other gaming company out there
- i thought personal score ment something
- i thought leaderboards ment something
- i still accidently drop refuge next to dying teammate sometimes instead of on top of them because i don’t use ground targetting
- i accidently use heartseeker twice sometimes when trying to do BP+ HS combo (mech. keyboards are OP)
- i still get carried away sometimes when i should be decapping far point
- i still rely only on myself and think any teammates i ever get are mindless bots (applies to yoloq)
- i tried to backstab ROM when he was using GS block on ranger
- i am still playing d/p 26006 and refuse to run panic strike like a hipster
- i spend way too much time in d/p instead of switching to sb when i should have
- i hate engis, with passion
- i decided to defend point alone vs 2 guards as dp thief (which was stupid decision under normal circumstances), i actually killed them both O_o
- i am Caed fangirl~
- i hope Backpack’s mom will disable her credit card so he can’t buy more forum accounts
- i left my friend Mykasa in 1v3 situation w/o telling him i was bailing (with refuge up) due to massive pressure from those 3 enemies; i still regret it, sry man :/
- i still fail to port up the edges in mid of the forest map
- i still hope i can steal those 22 stacks of might from every celery
- i actually sometimes rage at noobs in matches but i don’t say anything
- when enemies talk crap to me in matches, it makes me feel good as i know i did my job hehehehehehe
- i am mediocre/terrible at any class in pvp but thief so if you see me in match on anything but thief you are probably carrying me for daily
- i used to have asura skyhammer engi just for that map
- i wish i had amazing team but it requires a lot of work and i am lazy :<

Long ago, I was playing unranked with some guildies. One guildy decided to change up his build before the match but it started just as he reset his traits and after he had removed his gear(armor, runes, amulet and all weapons). He had only his utilities for the wellmancer.

Of course he didn’t bother to mention this to any of us, he just said he was trying a new build. we won the match and above all odds he was our top scorer.

After telling us what happened, we asked how he could possibly score higher than our entire team. Where he replied he dropped his wells in big fights and only rezzed downed teamates and while his abilities were on CD he would run and cap far.

I think he still has the screenshot of the final score with his equipment tab open.

Confession 2:

I often run my WvW builds in unranked (fall traits and all) nobody seems to notice…or comment. I suppose it’s better than running nothing but utilities though

Oh Eyia does that all the time on every single map and then tries to convince us that she’s not drunk.

Sometimes, when I’m bored, I go into unranked with my thief without any armor on, and ask map chat how to get pvp armor. I also use a deer finisher with the deer commander title.

Then I play normal and win all my 1v1s.

One time I won a 1v2 in unranked without any armor against a hambow and a meditation guard, and made both of them rage quit. I think the deer finish is what did it.

-I still fall down the hole at stillness every so often (over 2000 pvp matches played).
-Frequently forget what color my team is.
-I find making people rage at turret engis entertaining.
-I used to always forget to switch weapons between pvp and pve…I just started using the same weapon in pve so I would stop doing this.
-I like to try to make people think they are losing to a noob. I think this is a common one.
-Sometimes I will go out of my way to kill people with just the wrench (skill 1 on engi tool kit). Still not sure why I enjoy doing this.
-I sometimes toy with bad players for so long that one of their teammates shows up and I get killed.
-sometimes my left hand ends up on esdf and it takes me a bit to realize why my movement is messed up.

-Oh, and I’ll slip and drop big ol’ bomb right before I’m about to stomp someone, so they go flying off if an random direction. Which is fine if it clears the point, but otherwise I have to go find them.
- I’m superstitious. “Champion Genius” is THE most unlucky title in ranked pvp. Sometimes I’ll wonder why I’ve lost a few games in a row, and realize CG is up. Change it to anything else, and I start to win (usually). I think I’ll maybe give combat healer a try today!

D/D thief is my favorite spvp build

Losing orientation of up/down in kyhlo mid point, then when teammates call for help – i run to wrong close/far node.

My two most noob stories have to come from my Thief.

Disclaimer: I do not have a Thief main. I created this guy purely to complete the “Daily Thief win” PvP achievements. As such, the first time I brought him into PvP I had NO idea how to play a Thief.

Needless to say, I spent most of the match downed or dead.

I did eventually start to get the hang of things, and now I can actually provide some decent support in a 2v1 instead of just flailing away and mashing buttons.

However, a few nights ago I did a hilarious rookie mistake where I used Withdraw on Skyhammer and promptly rolled myself off the edge.

I’ve played my thief almost 1,200 hours, mostly in sPvP, and I’ve done that very thing more times than I’d like to admit.

Another hilariously bad situation on skyhammer:

1. Use your shortbow 5, steal, or shadow step to teleport over a hole on one of the side points to pass it
2. Game freaks out and places you in front of hole instead
3. Run forward into the hole to your death.

I still do this every now and then and I hit myself every time.

Random! Don’t spread rumors! Like it’s not enough you guys pm to the opposite team members telling them “Please excuse the behavior of our Guardian, she’s drunk”.

Well, I guess I really sounded drunk when 3 days ago on Khylo I said “going home” and then went far. And there was a Char holding the point, and without even to check his profession I presumed it’s a warrior and announced it on Ts. Because, you know, it’s a Char. Chars are warriors. They should be! Not my fault this one turned out to be ele…

So yeah, my ‘warrior home" turned out to be “elementalist far”. And then I decided it’s very funny and couldn’t stop laughing till I went out of breath. And all in one voice decided I’m drunk. :/

.- it wasn’t till a few matches later I realised Mesmer’s could clone/phantasm and duplicate themselves all over the place.

I still sometimes have trouble working out how many Mesmer’s are at a cap point if there are lots of Mesmer’s on the opposite team quickly.

Was trash talked for playing power ranger.
Still trash talked for playing power ranger, not for the same reason tho.

I like to finish downed state targets by hitting them instead of finishing them off. Often times I’ll try to start conversation with them.

I thought Oeggs had me chilled through most of a match. I was jump dodging to move a bit faster than RP walk speed. Turns out, I had RP walk on the whole match. LOL. I think it was a super close match so I was spazzing out a bit about having no condi clear, LOL.

When the time came, in my hype I double-pressed portal, stacking the entrance and exit ontop of each other. Sogud.

Well, I might as well chime in here. I played a "Medi-burn-Might stacking glass cannon Guard with the offensive tome Elite (Unranked don’t worry) because I thought it would be funny as hell. After getting rekt all match, near the end I walked into far making it a 3v3 against 2 DD ele and a Cele engi. All 3 were at 75-80% health, popped open my uber book and Smashed 5 as hard as I could. After the 4? second cast, I dropped them all with the 1 hit (It’s an AOE) 11-13k per player. The whole match and the loss was worth it after that. Sorry teammates, I wanted to try something stupid. At least it was unranked

Ps. Keep in mind this was no where near the Medi build most play. Made it up on my own and had traits all over the place lol (For max damage potential with no regard for my own life. Yes Assassin ammy)

Use Rabbit finisher to down dragon ranked players with Sanctum Sprinter title. When they ask me if I’m new to PvP I’ll say “no, I have played a lot of Sanctum Sprint!”. This is in ranked <3

I started PvE in GW2 in September. Did my first PvP match in November (well, in my defense I played for a month when it came out but got busy with life), and I am now qualified for the North American WTSIQ next Sunday… oh and I’m probably the only guy who isn’t even close to a dragon rank yet.

today i stole svanir after killing a guy that somehow got downed by it. before he had the chance to respawn, i said “thank you”

i also deserted from my first match yesterday… my team was just a cesspool of hate, more concerned with cursing each other than with getting out of spawn or doing something useful. when the other team got a 300 point advantage, i just gave up. it wasn’t worth putting up with those guys >.>

On legacy of the foefire, when people are talking about splits, I tell them that I’m going to defend lord all game since its worth 150 points and the nodes only give 1 point each.

As S/D thief I downed a warrior at Spirit Watch mid last night who was fighting our necro and bailed to assault far. Warrior got him during Vengeance >.<

Next time, I take the extra 5 seconds to spike him myself.

I ran unranked with a nekkid necro (No armor). Funny thing is, I did better then I normally play fully gear out :P

I’m Trying to break the ranger meta by chasing down every Longbow ranger I find regardless of points or what trap I’m running into. I mostly Succeed.

Also I have tryed to get away from people by chaining the #2 sword attacks (evade back, turn, Leap forward) but i forgot to un target so i just was leaping around for a few seconds till I died

I killed myself with ranger sword 5 times in the same match on Skyhammer while learning what I was doing.

o my… I was reading this at work.
It took me all of my self-control to not actually laugh out loud. So I put my hands on my mouth and nose, so I wouldn´t laugh out loud. needless to say my face went all red and I had tears in my eyes.
The my boss turned to me : “Hey, you crying?”, and I just couldn´t hold it anymore. My boss was not amused xD

On topic:
when is started playing and had my first pvp match on day 1 as a guardian I came to a point with a guardian and an engineer on it. we fought 5 seconds then the guardian stood to the side to watch us and I tried to kill the engineer. But he was only running and I was taking damage from I didn´t know what. So I called him a noob, a cheater and whatnot, and he was laughing at me and I was just like really mad, because I really believed he cheated…
Later I found out he Bomb Kit #1’ed me to death…
