I think everyone knows this but I guess Anet doesn’t? It is still play to win? If you want a real rating system Anet should copy and paste WOW’s arena rating system. For those of you who don’t know you have an mmr and your actual rating. Everyone starts at 0 and you work your way up. Your mmr is essentially your rating you should be winning losing 50/50 at, this means if I play 1,000 games but I am only an average player my rating an mmr will only hover around 1500 and thus games played does not equal top of leaderboards. Also WOW would let you know after every match each teams mmr and how many points you gained/lost or if you lost none at all (the other team had a way higher mmr.
Please fix this Anet.

+1 I really liked the mmr system in wow but the problem is that the playerbase we have wont support this system. We dont have enough players, so the que time will be even longer. But maybe a lot of players will come back if they implement this system.

I rather wait in queue for 48 days and get a good leaderboard than queue up and get a match in 5 seconds to be stuck with a stupid leaderboard.
we had good system just with a stupid decay system. now we have broken, bad, horrible and inaccurate leaderboard. PvP has been made for carebears since they started hiding ranks from matches too
PS. enjoying my 10min queues and 70% solo vs. premade ratio.
In WOW if you had a really high mmr and there was no one quing around mmr you would get matched with a lesser team. If the lesser team lost they would either lose 0 or not a lot of points while you would only gain like 1-3 points (which is not a lot since your rating is prob around 2.6-2.8k)
Even if they could separate the games into brackets based on your rank I would be happy just so I wouldn’t get qued with people who just started playing and do not know what they are doing.

Perfect solution.
Implement this now ANET. Thanks
I also wonder how many people from the WTS NA finals team are in the top 25 of the leaderboard. I don’t know the answer but if it is 0 it just shows how terrible the leaderboard is.
WoW leaderboard is perfect. How hard can it be to copy that to GW2?

idk about NA but with the exception of some soloq players, I don’t recognize anyone in top 150 EU… I imagine it’s the same there.
50% pve turret engis farming…

I would not say perfect, (there was a HUGE win trading scandal during one of the seasons to have teams be tied in the number 1 spot), but it is miles ahead of what gw2 has.

It’s the best one i’ve ever seen atleast. The competitiveness and the grind for titles is good for the everyday leaderboard grind.
If I see a player in WoW with a Gladiator title, it’s obviously a good player. I can check the players rating and inspect his PvP achievments.
But in Gw2 there is no indication of what skill-level the specific player is, unless I see him in a tournament.
I noticed from the last lb change it’s easier to lose points in the lb.
Problems are two:
1) LB is now corrupted because there are people who gained hundred of points in the first week with the old system.
2) At the beginning of the season if you have an average/good mmr instead of bad mmr, you’re in a bad spot because queue length punishes you in relation on games / hour. And we see how the alternative to give the same MMR for all at beginning created a lot of issues in quality match, really worst than now. So i dunno honestly how to solve this issue.

I totally agree it is definitely the best I have seen. It is a shame GW2 could not adopt a similar system considering it came out after wow and it already had a better system in GW1 than it does now. The reason why wow is still successful today is because they steal good concepts away from other games. They got the idea of their achievement system from Warhammer and got the idea of dynamic quests from GW2. Why can’t Anet just swallow their pride and implement a pvp rating system like wow’s instead of their failure of a system? It blows my mind that this game is over 2 years old and the leaderboard is the worst I have seen of any game I have ever played.
and the leaderboard is the worst I have seen of any game I have ever played.
As harsh as this may sound… this is all too true. Their leaderboard is literally the worst I have seen of any game I have ever played.
And I play a lot of games.
We have a very small PvP scene. Everyone knows and accepts who all the best players are.
None of the best players are represented in the top tier of the current leaderboard.
The leaderboard is failure incarnate.

The leaderboard is more broken now than last time. Frankly its insulting to good players to see people with sub-50% win rates sitting at the top of the boards from exploiting a bug from the first week and just farming games regardless of win rate. The matchmaking system is still horrible as well. The group composition of half the games im in consists of absolutely no point holders on one team and then the other team will have as many as three. With the matchmaking this bad, the only way to get a balanced group is to either hope people switch characters or to run only in a full premade.
