Currently i have much less fun in PvP as i had before the introduction of the current system.
Following design decissions/issues seem to be the reason for this:
Matchmaking
This is the most important point that destroyes my fun.
If i play PvP i like to play against ppl with a similar skill level!
But currently the system tries to give everyone a 50% win ratio, which leads to redicolous matchups. I find myself often in matches where i can beat every single player of the enemy team in a 1 vs 1 situation. And i’am not even good in 1 vs 1! That means the enemy team is not on my level. But in 50% of the cases i will still loose this matchup cause the matchmaking somehow finds ppl even worse than the oponent team has.
Currently im left alone on close with 2 ppl (Invading) almost every match. All i can do is fight 2 ppl and see my team not winning on the other points, or i leave close – just to get flamed like “f***ing ret***! Don’t leave close!!!!”.
I know a lot of top players find themself in groups with players that have no idea how to play if they join solo (which a lot of them stoped doing cause of this). IIRC Chaith posted something like this before…
People don’t know how to rotate.
And its just no fun like this.
=> I want to be matched with players of a similar skill level against players of a similar skill level.
I don’t want to have a team that is only in average as strong as the enemy team!
Unbalanced matches
There was this table showing how many points you get for the leaderbord depending on the match result and the odds. Please don’t let us play matches where the chance to win is lower than 40%. Or is this really necessary?
Daily class wins!
I just had a match with 3 warriors in my team. 2 of them clearly not experienced as warrior in PvP (Warrior is class daily atm). People tend to do their daily class wins in ranked queue. I don’t fully understand why they do this, but it’s not forbidden…
=> Please remove the class based daily! Also think about making PvE daily easier. Currently its much more efficient to do the daily in PvP, thats why a lot of players do the daily in PvP, which leads to the toxic PvE vs. PvP environment. The toxic invironment will not help new players to find their way into PvP (In which many are not even interested… but daily…)
Solo Players vs Premade
Already posted many times… It’s just not fun! When i play with a team we win 60-90% of the matches cause we face a lot of teams that are 5 solo players or 2 ppl team mixed with solo or 3 ppl team. Even if we win the matches it feels not good.
When i join solo and get stomped by a premade its no fun either.
=> As already suggested by other people here in the forum: Dont’t put a full team vs a team of 2/3 or solo players! If the premade looses they most likely are flamed as noobs. If the premade wins they still get flamed as lamers.
Leaderbord
I don’t like it and in the current state it means absolutely nothing, except beeing a good start for researchers to find ppl that spend to much time in games!
The old system was not bad, except that people that dont play stay on their leaderbord position.
Now its only about grinding (Say “Hi” to Anets No Grind Philosophy) Sorry for that Justin!
=> Give us a leaderbord that is based on skill! Maybe you can start with the old system where the MMR is kept seperate from the leaderbord position and use the decay system. BUT make the decay permanent. So if you don’t play your MMR stays the same but you drop slowly. If you are 2 weeks in hollidays you maybe drop from the leaderbord, but with some matches played you can come back. You already had decay depending on how much ppl play, keep that! It just should take more than one match to come back to the previous position if you haven’t played for a month!
locked in the mists
Yesterday i had to wait more than 8 min for matchups at eu primetime. and im locked in the mists for this time… Am i playing gw2? Well maybe 50% of my online time…
Is this fun? No, not really.
