If they are both in the same game pvp/pve, their rewards should be the same. There shouldn’t be pvp armor and pve armor, you should be able to get both; both ways. Being able to make money as a pvper would be nice too.

1) Better reward system. Even though it would delay everything else I feel that it’s fundamental to the longevity of the game. Remove the barrier from PvE/PvP rewards.

Anet said they fixed it so that if someone is not playing they will go down the leaderboards. if im looking at the top 50. alot of them didnt played for a long time. same thing in soloq. if someone is at 10 wins and 0 losses he wont go down and will just stay in the top 100.
also, im hoping to get the old tournament rotation back, with continueing to the next round if u win the first one. its more like a tournament. this is just like a match.
More skill and less spam

Rewards? Come on! If you want PvE stuff go do PvE. PvE loot doesn’t matter to hardcore PvPers.
1.) Changes in the some skill fundamentals.
-All skills should require LoS.
-Find ways to reward personal skill level in an appropriate manner such that personal skill is the primary determinant of success. i.e. in a 1v1 duel the more skilled player should win, not the one who has more luck/ more button spam build.
-Remove skill activation passively through traits. These include Warrior Last Stand, Defy pain and Engi Self-Regulating Defenses among others.
-Reduce amount of Utility skill options. Perhaps even reduce non-heal/elite utility slots from 3 to 2. Less variability = more balance.
2.) Reduce sources of Weakness and reduce ease of application.
3.) Improve post game analysis table with more stats such as damage done, healing done, damage received etc. Make Tables visible my all players and spectators.
4.) (This suggestion should be subject to through testing) Globally increase health pools, but at the same time dramatically increase the cooldowns of all Heal skills and reduce their effectiveness.

But it matters to normal players. If you are hardcore pvper, this isn’t your game anyway. Gw2 hardcore pvper is really an oxymoron xD

Eh I like the pvp in this game.. it could be better, but if I had to rate it against say wow warhammer aion or rift I’d say gw2 is pretty much just better.

- Class balance – this needs to be top priority, good players are leaving or taking a break from the game in droves because of the current balance issues
- Matchmaking – especially in solo queue, a good majority of games aren’t close because of lopsided teams, which makes a lot of players very frustrated
- Rebalancing of Spirit Watch and Skyhammer so they are ready for competitive play

1. Bring GvG back – This pvp mode sucks, we need a real competitive pvp like GvG, do something like that (MOBA).

New game modes can make existing non-viable conquest builds viable in a new mode which helps alleviate the concern with diversity.
It’ll also help retain players given that so many shed out in conquest and there is nowhere to go that isn’t gear-biased if you don’t like what’s going on in CQ at the time other than logging out and choosing another game plain and simple.

I never tell people how to play. You can play it as much as you want for all I care. What I am talking about is simply pressing some specifics key, you got as much effect as someone who take time to learn their class,combo,etc…
Player A works hard to master the class. Player B relies on AI to do the job for him. Player B should not the same reward, if not more, than Player A, like Ever.

I like how all of you mention balance. I have to let you guys know they have been balancing, just about every month or two theres a big balance patch, theres been several big balance patches.
The one coming after PAX is going to be the 6th balance MAJOR balance patch (not including the minor ones).

We’re asking for it based on our wishlist of priorities, not because we don’t think it’s coming. People who list it first think it’s that much more important than anything else. At least that was the intent of the thread.
Also, some players think that the meta is perfectly fine and thus are not asking for balance, so to them it’s not a priority at all.
Add more gameplay in PVP. IMHO we only have below things to do in pvp.
1. press the buttons that spams AOE.
2. press the buttons that spams AI
3. Apply stability to yourself and knock the other team off the point.
4. Analyze the situation when there is downed and play it correctly.
The only thing that’s competitive atm is the handling of downed state. Don’t get me wrong, there are other competitive aspects of GW2 but in pvp they don’t matter a penny.

Tbh its getting silly with the e-sport vision. They cant force a game to work in this forum, they first have to make sure the game itself is accualy fun. Fun to play and fun to watch. Then mabye they can start make a sport of it. The large player base could not care less about the biggest goal a-net have atm, most ppl just want to logon andplay a fun game. They feel frustration something totaly ailen to them is messing up their game experience.

Everyone’s going to treb with no one capping? Ignoring orbs to wait for that chance to stomp a downed enemy? A thief competing with a guard for that best defender title? I can’t take that kind of mentality. Can you?
As I said, these are just additional leaderboards. At the end of the match, what matters most is the “best player” LB, which is dependent on your wins, which you won’t be getting any if your team’s all zerging around mindlessly.
And you’re worried that “it would be all about time invested”? So you prefer those people who are sitting at the top 10 in LB with an 11-0 record, who might just recently played in PvP, and might as well return to PvE ‘cause there’s no way they’re going down anytime soon?

I personally would never grind it, but if just 2 or 3 guys from my team are grinding it, then I’m kittened and will lose rating, assuring I get more of these kind of guys.
Btw earlier I was thinking of a “Best trebber” thing :P But realized it’s nor working.
It took them a half year to make a barely working matchmaking and a lader, I don’t think we need more ladder investments.
Yeah, with 10 matches you shouldn’t be able to be rank 1 on the LB, that’s a rating-system fault. But under time-investment I was speaking about requiring 0 skill just time to grind.

Classes need to be balanced, builds need to be more diverse, and more team comps need to be viable competitively. Why is it that a guardian is 100% absolutely mandatory in team comps? Why can’t warriors and thieves bunker?
Traits need a lot of work all across the board for all classes. Bugs need to be fixed. Why does the warrior’s #5 banner skill inflict a 2 second self stun? That’s horribad. Picking up a banner causes a 1 second stun, too. What the heck.
Ultimately, e-sports should be the primary goal behind everything. In order for GW2 to become a mainstream competitive PvP game, fundamental things like balance, bug fixes, build variation, arena matchmaking, and PvP incentive need to be solid. Also, POPULATION MUST IMPROVE. There’s only ~2000 players in a worldwide “massive multiplayer” online game. Compare this to League of Legends 1 million plus players worldwide. Come on. Solution: make the Heart of the Mists free to play. The amount of money ArenaNet would make from a population increase due to free-to-play mode would be astronomical.

1. Rough Balance Get rid of builds that have an unhealthy effect on the meta-game. Abilities that make some builds or professions slightly better than others can be addressed later, as long as it doesn’t dumb down the game.
2. Better Rewards While the current reward system is fine for people that PvP just to PvP, there needs to be something to draw in other players or to keep casual PvPers around longer. Dangling a carrot in front of people is a great way to bolster the numbers for solo and team queues.
3. Better Stat Customization The lack of mix-and-match with the amulet really hurts build potential. You can’t pick up a little toughness in a power damage build, which could go a long way. In order to get precision in a power damage build, you have to be fully spec’ed into your precision line or go with a berserker amulet.
4. Fine Balance Reduce abilities or combinations that are a little too good, improve abilities that are weak, and hopefully open up more build variety.

-I hope we get to carry PvE armors into PvP and convert them into PvP skins.
-As mentioned by many folks here, this encourages more PvEers to join PvP because even as Rank 1 they get to prove that they are not so new at GW2 by showing that Legendary thing they HAD outside the Mists.

-Health pools should be increased vastly across the board.

Competitive infrastructure.
Come on it’s been a year now, don’t you think it’s time for some competition to emerge?:p :p :p
Not only is it hugely beneficial to the players it also helps developers to understand how the game is played. Without competition and teams pushing the system to its limits, any game balance or other change will be done without knowing the part of l2p and what is actually an issue.
The more competitive the game is, the more reliable the data is for devs to adjust the game. And the more fun we the players have!
1) PvP needs rewards, unique skins that are PvP only, legendary skins, and especially the ability to somehow make a decent chunk of gold over time (not as much as PvE).
2) Balance
3) Increase Build diversity / Fix bugs
4) Add more PvP modes, death-match being the first new mode, preferably 3v3 with a queue that accepts 1, 2, or full 3 queue-ups.
5) Add ability to see all asura opponents as human, no more difficult to see/spot animations.

Ok, I’ll bite.
1) Fix matchmaking so it doesn’t pit 5-top 100 players against 5-not top 100 players for solo que. I prefer Team matches anyway, but in order to have teams you need to have population, and pitting newbies against full top 100 teams does not foster an environment conducive to having new players learn from good players. The matchmaking as it is in solo que is a detriment to growing the competitive population. If you don’t fix this it will kill the game.
2) Reward appropriately for playing the game the right way. Tourney matches should have much greater rewards than Hot Join/Custom Arenas (at least 2x and probably 5x). This could be accomplished a number of ways, but the best way is probably to make Hot Joins reward 100 glory to the winning team players and nothing else (no kills, neuts, siege hits, etc. for glory). This would reward people for trying to win rather than for zerging around not caring if they win or lose; it would push population into rated matches where greater rewards would be which is badly needed. Failing to identify and rectify this before now is really an epic fail, and this is another issue that has made the competitive sPvP population shrink. It is time to address it.
3) Real tournaments for team que with something to offer besides conquest. Multi-round, multi-objective tournaments with multiple game types (conquest, death match, relic run, etc.), and locked team rosters (once you que no weapon, skill or trait changes). Single game mode competitive play inherently lacks the depth that it would have if other styles were present and you didn’t know which you were going to have to deal with. Hero’s Ascent was successful because it provided diverse match styles and required adaptability. Implement something similar.
I left balance out of the discussion because that is a different topic altogether. Balance is a process, not an event and it will be in flux until the end of time. As much as the current meta is stale and dissatisfying it is something that they are going to address no matter what.
LOL anyone who says rewards need to come before balance haven’t play competitive PvP.
