Imo after nerf on rtl and stuff ranger bm (s/d + gs) is the best class for run the orb!
Ranger was better even before RTL nerf…

I think op want to show us something : There is something wrong with rangers atm .
And thats not only on spirit watch , on every map rangers are a real problem , they are way too powerfull and doesnt requires any real skills to be effective.
THe trap rangers are even a joke , since they gave the perma haste to the auto attack bow some month ago.
so know im asking a question to all the esport boys : How to get a real esport with such imbalances ??
oh wait , esport is for games that requires REAL skills to play , like Wc3 was , like Sc2 or lol is.But not with the current balance update we have , that only take in count crying noobs that cant play a class properly , so they just make 20 thread a day to nerf/upgrade smthing useless , and the worst part is : they get the changes to make them happy and keep playing the game.
Theres a delay on this things, it took months for ppl to start crying about eles even tho they were strong all that time and it took months more for devs to overnerf or better said missnerf them so probably near the end of the summer is when rangers will get hit, the full out crying is coming soon.
The problem is not that he is moving that fast. Problem are the pets. If you constantly get in matches against 3 rangers without any ranger in your team the 3 rangers can just get the orb and take on your 5 people while their other 2 people cap points since pet counts as extra warrior you can’t even kill the 3 rangers with a full team of 5.
Now it’s not anymore “omg omg 3 imba mesmers…” we are happy if they have 3 or more mesmer. it’s “omg they have 2 ranger we don’t have any ranger… they won”
So what are your opinions then on it? Nerf the pets more than they are already? Nerf them pets and rangars! not like they are pathetic in PVE too.
Oh, or better yet, nerf a class that’s inferior to a D/D ele in everyway. because Ele’s and mesmers must be the most powerful classes in pvp?
I dont care what they ll do with ranger..I just want someone to make me understand why after they nerfed/fix rtl range fro 1550 to 1200 and slapped a 40 sec for using it for movement(and not only unfortunately) they ALSO reduced its range further while catrrying the orb.
Was it really neccessarily?Ele orb carrier would be outclassed even without that change.
They just reinforced a ranger carrier meta and outright killed the alternative ele carrier.
And ele wasnt as good even before the nerfs for that job..
Basically there isnt anything that compares to ranger cause they also made invuln drop it..which is not bad imo but its also another nerf to ele carrier..

So you want to nerf the ranger because you can’t bring the orb from the center to the objective in less than 5 seconds?
Ranger stating that ranger is bad… where have I seen this before… A good ranger right now can kill any class while tanking with the best in-combat mobility… while having an invincible pet…

And why is it the ranger cannot have the best damaging tank? i know for a fact the Ranger is not a better defense tank than the guardian, but because it has a good blend of damage/survivability we need to nerf it?

Rangers can outbunker any bunker spec in game, while dealing balanced damage (the damage of a non bunker, balanced spec).
In the other hand, mesmers can survive like another class specced into semi bunker, while still being glass cannon, due to their high amount of invuls, stealth and CC. Both op imo

The thief has stealth, not mobility.
the reason why ele is the better tank is the fact it can Disengage. thats what makes it better. the thief is glass, the ele has the ability to drop 8stacks of high damage bleed on you, then RTL away swap to another element and come back. but hey NERF RANGARS! Mai ele is not OP anymoar QQ
Rangers have everything. They can have a lot of survivability and do good damage and slow down enemies with their bows(long range and cripple conditions) and pets(conditions an fear or cripple depending on the pet you choose).
And the pets always have a lot of health even if they use dps pets and not a bear. Problem is the pet is very strong like there were 2 people with teamspeak fighting you together instead of 1 ranger + pet.
so you nerf the pet and leave the ranger with less damage than any other class?
we have good survivability, but our long range shots can be EASILY evaded using the a/d keys. the cripples also dont last so long and again are easily avoidable. we DO NOT have any burst what so ever in any ranged weapon either. in GW2 long range=lose unless it’s in a very specific situation.
Simple solution: remove Spirit Watch from tPvP rotation

Glass ranger pets do not die bc we spec 30 points into BM just so our pet will have the extra regen to stay alive and we have to run the regen signet in one of our utility slots. we sacrifice A LOT to be able to have pet that lasts more than 3 seconds fighting on point.
pls stop the massacre , remoove spirit watch or ranger from the game (both can be ok too)

That’s why people have been asking for more PvE/PvP splits. No one is saying pets need to be nerfed in PvE.
Actually, I kind of feel like BM bunker ranger is a good level of awesome for the devs to try to bring other professions up to—an amazing bunker but still goes down to condition overload or focused fire, but has several other facets (mobility, AoE conditions, pet cc/damage) that make it really good.
How about removing this map and reverting the RTL? win win
I think the one nerf anet needs to give Rangers is in the condition removal department. Just like they did Eles cos their condi removal is RIDICULOUS!
If all you guys do is nerf healing spring, that’ll still be great.

they need to lower dmg on pets and give more to the ranger, this way if u go full tank u dont do as much dmg 1v1. Or make pets scale with the ranger.

In tPvP my jag will only die if 1) a glass canon bursts it or 2) I’m in a team fight against a heavy AoE team.
In both situations though it means a lot of damage is being funneled into my pet that could be funneled into a teammate…
I’m REALLY surprised they dropped the nerf hammer on RTL while carrying the orb yet Swoop and Hornet Sting + Monarch Leap + Lightning Reflexes and all other leaps were left the same…

i still say the elementalist needs a nerf. the mobility and damage it puts out are too high. the elementalist can dictate when and where to fight, no other class can do that.
and now just because a ranger invests over 60points in pure tank you want to nerf the health/dps of the pet, and make it even more useless as it is now in everything but tanking in pvp? fine, but reduce the health on the ele by 6,000 health in pvp and pve.
nerfing a ranger that puts 30points into BM will make the pet completely useless for those who have 0points in it. why dont you try playing the class that has it’s DPS slashed because of an npc that follows it around? i guess rangers are only allowed to have 1 viable build in PVP and PVE instead of 2?

We can have perma regen, there’s some perma vigor builds out there too which combined with GS #1 skill, which if you use only that skill and don’t miss a hit you’ll have 57% evade time, and a s/d you can absolutely dodge a good 80% of the attacks if not more…
And yeah if you’re dumb enough to stand in bonfire you deserve to die…

I really wish the mobility abilities that are allowed while carrying the orb were universally balanced. Yet, they are not.
This asks for a gimmicky team composition and it makes solo queuing very hit and miss.
Holding two points is very difficult without a premade setup, unless you completely dominate the other team (which should never happen with good matchmaking).
Sounds like my issue is mainly solo queue/premade related? Yes, it is. Implement a real solo queue already!

Eles cant disengage anymore whenever they want. Eles got hit by the nerfbat already.
Eles also spend ALL of their traits mostly into surviving(water/arcane), cause 12k hp for a melee light armor user is a big facepalm

If you kill a beastmaster’s pet they are pretty much worthless. It isn’t hard to do. The pet buffs really only buffed the pets that don’t do much damage to just make them tankier so don’t mention the pet buff. Better yet, kite the kitten the thing and learn what to dodge.
As for the guardian bubble to the guy above me, traps, marks, pretty much any aoe goes through their sanctuary.

Ground aoe and unblockable skills can pierce Sanctuary, and so can all melee hits if you have stability.
I do agree, it’s hard to counter, because the commune time on the orb is faster than any projectile or player can travel outside of melee range…

At running the orb.
Orb running rangers just run orbs and are bad at trying to grab it.
Pre-nerf, ele’s had the benefit of having a completely useful spec allong with their orb running, one that was not just decent at a thing or two on the side, but excelled at combat, stomping and pressuring points.

Bunker is not just the ability to take damage.
A ranger will never be a better bunker than a guardian because he has nowhere the amount of CC a guardian has or the team utility. Guardian aoe stability alone plus sanctuary guarantees them a spot on a team.
A guardian can control a point much better than any other class in the game.

Shut up about conditions already, ranger’s condition removal is laughable. Our pet dies from our grandmaster traited condition removal, the signet active we have kills our pet and the heal requires you to stay on top of it and is on a 30 cd cooldown.
Yepyep, you shouldn’t be allowed to post anymore because of your ignorance. The ranger’s bow doesn’t have “perma haste”, it was NERFED to from 0.5 to 0.54s, and the haste effect on it was bugged which meant it wasn’t 100% but 70%ish. That’s a NERF not perma haste.

ahh ok, I don’t have any melee weapons so I guess he will get it everytime from me. I remember a thread saying range beats melee but I guess in this situation you need that guy to melee.

Here another tpvp story : Yesterday i’ve met a team on spirit watch , that was playing with 2 guardians and 3 ranger.THat was so ESPORT man , 3 pet chassing guys all over the map , dealing 7k dmge on me with 1 hit of bird while i have 2600 armor.
SO i just decided to not play tpvp anymore on this map , playing soloqueu is already a pain because you face premade 80% of the time , then u just have to face NOOB class played by halfbrained ppl on a kitten map full of bug ( yesterday orb not popping lolz)
ESPORT IS COMING GUYS
Eles can disengage but rangers dont need to disengage, they are invicible !
The problem of rangers is that they can evade 80% of the time with s/d.
btw they are able to disengage too with the swords skill (1 2 3).
i’ll just sum up how it comes when my ele is facing a ranger 1n1 on a point:
vs bm ranger :
-you try to burst him without cc → doesnt work cuz evade
-you try to burst him while he is cc → nvm he got 3K armor
-while you try to dps him , and running intoo a circle ( makes u dodge the pet attack) , u get hitted once by the pet : wow 7 k dmge
-U try to heal with water or spaming any other skills cuz u are playing with signet: oh wait he uses the burning aoe from torch.
-While you QQ because the bm still with 70 %+ hp and u just use 25 skills per second to stay alive , the pet hits u again for 5/6K
Now same situation vs ranger Trap ( which is not as op as the bm)
You are on the point and the ranger comes :
-u try for your usual dps combo
-ranger is setting a trap that nearly takes all the node while he dodge/not taking so much dmge from your burst
- he cc you on the trap then 111111111111111→ you have to use smthing to get out fast or dispell condi or ull loose 3/4 of ur hp in 3sec
-so u managed to evade off the trap , oh wait u still need to heal cuz u couldnt cure all conditions at the same time
- you try to dps the MF ranger again , burst wasnt enough to get him down :/
-Traps are up again , now 2 things to do : die like a galdiator on the arena , or go away and let him cap the point until friends comes to hlp you.

yeh actually the crazy thing is that this class can totally spec into defense while having his pet totally offensive, this is the real problem, its like having a guardian bunker that can deal 2k dmg per hit and also put burning on you….
An easy fix to this without changing ranger class is to make pet stats related in % to the player stats, and each pet then has its own stat modifiers, so if the ranger go bunky the pet will also be resistent but wont deal much dmg.
Same thing that happens with mesmer phantoms, if you have no attack they will just do crap dmg, i cant understand why this isnt happening for rangers too.
yesterday evening, was doing tournament in spirit watch map, evrey team we fought was using at least 2 rangers, yeh we found teams with 3 rangers., some with traps, some with GS to carry orb, but yet they were sending all their pets on one of us, so they could carry the orb and cap bases while still have their pets focusing on our dpser :\

from a rangers point of view.. have you ever watch a pet try hit any half decent player? the fact pets have to stop every time they want to attack seriously gimps there effectiveness, all you comparing arnt taking into consideration that a hell of alot of the pets attacks miss..
I would love to see official data on hit rate of pets in pvp..
back on topic.. the reason for the nerf to ele with the orb was that being able to go from the top of the stairs all the way to the node.. was well OP
that being said ranger GS leap is boardline op but only if you take a signet of speed to counter act the slow effects otherwise.. i dont see how others are not just as good.. i think warriors could be amazing runners but i dont think it’s clicked for many how many rush type skills they have..

i will admit that the AI change they made should have been for PvE only, it is way too easy to just sic a pet on a target & target breaks won’t force the player to make another active decision. this one change has dumbed down the spec more than any other since the pet will maintain its target regardless of player’s line of sight.
every change that is made to strengthen pet AI is dumbing down the class as a whole. pets need to be ACTIVE components of the class. the player needs to take full responsibility for the performance of the pet. ( i feel the same way about phantasms )
it isn’t leash range or damage that is the problem, it’s that the player does not need to make an active decision.
( it’s an altogether different problem regarding ppl getting pve’d down by remote pets—i’m sorry but this should never be happening to you if you counterplay )

a possible solution is.. if the ranger hasnt hit the player the pets hitting for say 20secs he returns to the ranger unless the ranger tells it to continue.. sort of like a pet checking where it’s master is now and then..
this may help with pets running off harassing players for long durations of a game..
