Rangers and Necro's "Meta Worthy"?

It has happened but they balance the game “game-wide” so a Ranger or Necro may not be top pick meta in conquest but they are top pick for elite comps in WvW. Same thing like a Greatsword Warrior is top pick dungeoneer but not so hot in conquest without that Hammer. Same thing with D/D Cele Ele is top pick in conquest but virtually useless in PvE compared to serk specs.
Ranger doesn’t need buffs, it needs fixes & overhauls mainly to how it’s animations work. It’s gameplay is clunky and this is the main reason why it stays out of meta.

Huh? Necro is already meta in PvP. I don’t really care about PvE.
Ranger? Ranger itself is fine. It just doesn’t have a role on a team that someone else can’t do better.

2. Elementalist has a meta build in both PvE and sPvP
3. Guardian has a meta build in both PvE and sPvP
4. Thief has a meta build in both PvE and sPvP

Necro does not have a high tier build in PvE due to poorly designed encounters. If the encounters actually required lots of boon strips, condi transfers, and other things necro is good at then it’d be fine. But as is, nothing requires that.
I’m not a Ranger player but I do have my opinions about Necro.
PvE:
Necro is an inherently selfish class, but at the same time it has the lowest DPS in the game. Make it the best selfish class and/or give it a necessary team support. My opinion, which is really not agreed with, is to enhance the selfishness by giving it modifiers that only really become useful when picking up summoned weapons and in Lich. If Necro could somehow produce 15%-20% more DPS than any other class with Ice Bow, and Lich gets some good bonuses that can only really be optimized in teamplay, then I think it can see use. I think that any team support you could give Necro would have to be beyond OP to be chosen over the current meta classes.
PvP:
Make everyone as good as Nos.

Answer : Rangers might be, if they could ditch the pet mechanic for something useful. Necromancers aren’t, sadly.
Necro has some place in the WvW and PvP meta. Ranger right now is absolute garbage, if Druid fails they should delete the class.

Ranger could have several builds that kinda work, but just not quite meta-worthy, here are the reasons in my experience:
Sword/torch Axe/dagger Trapper with settlers amu
- Not enough usage from all the healing power, basically only used for regeneration, the heal skill and some leap-finishers. Other sustainy classes have other weapon-skills/traits that use the healing-power.
- Very low health pool.
- Low mobility.
- Not enough access to stability/stunbreakers
PewPew (beastmastery, nature and wilderness)
- DMG just isn’t quite es high as other glasscannons.
- There is nothing that ONLY the ranger can do (like stealth-openers or portal). The Trapper at least offers sth. kinda unique with the traps.
- Easier to train down than other glasscannons, which mostly have very strong disengages and high stealth-uptime to avoid pressure.
Some general stuff:
- Shortbow deals way too less condition-dmg
- Better control over the pets would be much appreciated (like being able to control the usage of the other skills of the pet).
- Access to +25% movement-speed or swiftness is much harder than on other classes.

Because everytime Ranger was “viable” it was NEVER fun to fight against.
Right now the power build is at least not as aggravating as spirit ranger or the old trap ranger.
They CANNOT buff this class unless they change the mechanics.
I think certain BS just needs to be nerfed though like d/d ele’s blinding ashes and ranger will probably find a place as back point. Chain CC taunt is not a joke.

A good necro can beat D/D ele almost 100% of the time. When reaper comes out necro will be meta in pve. I was getting ridiculous numbers in dungeon runs on reaper.
You should make this most in the profession forums since you are talking about pve too.
well, in 1v1 is really hard to beat a good renger ( LB, GS power )
i found him extremely annoying in pvp.. long range damage, KD and stealth..
i can understand why everyone hates him, but why should be in so such a low tier??

Not true…they can 2 vs 1 for a nice amount of time and are also needed to dislodge the king of sustain bunker guardian.
Necro’s also allow extra condition defense, with necro bunker guardian and ele whatever the split is you’ll have a good level of condi cleanse…since burning is so strong the extra condi clenase is really helpfull. The boon corruption is important for point holder pressure.
Even if you tune down elementalists necros in my opinion will stay in meta. The only class that at this moment doesn’t have a meta role in my opinion is ranger. Perhaps druid will change that. If rangers could ensnare players in traps more eficiently they could be used to slow enemy rotations, and could have the role of “anti-rotation”, would enable teams with slower comps (guardians and necros) to be on par with more mobile ones (eles, thiefs, mesmers ).
Other idea is to buff revival skills of pets and to give them skills to prevent damage on team players (for example stay on guard (pet will revive and line of sight players in area) this would enable rangers to be more helpfull in team fights

-For rangers:
-Skill that would enable pet control to pass to another team player (this would enable for example a bunker guardian to duo with dps or high defense pets on point) ( would also enable for high dps classes to use taunts of pets)
-Skill that would make a pet guard an area, in that area pet would revive and line of sight ( placing itself in front of high dps skills) team players.
-Improvements on traps so they can effectively be used to counter enemy player rotations (slow enemys more, imobilize players, knockdown enemies etc…)
-Create a stealth reveal trap
Rangers are on par in 1 vs 1 cenarios what they need is a role, this in my opinion would give them one.
For necros:
They are already part of the meta, what I would give them is an form of invulnerability to prevent team spikes…that would be:
Pain transfer
High cool down skill (60 secs minimum) (1 sec activation)
All damage received for the next 5 seconds is transferred to target player

Necro is meta in sPvP and WvW…. PvE is irrevelent, any class can complete any content (some better than others, but the fact remains, this game’s PvE is easy enough for any class with any build to complete it…)
Necro is the ONE class that can give the OP cele ele DD fits…Very versatile class
Necro in WvW backline zerg is ridiculous…They roam fine too…
Rangers….. uh, no, meta in nothing
Lb/GS ranger works fine, but smart players know how to play around it… they aren’t dangerous at all… just don’t let them stand safely from 1500 and snipe you over and over again…
Rangers in zerg is trash – just picks off light armor classes at 1500 range… thats about it.. no good frontline capability.. its trash tier in WvW zerging.
rangers are good for WvW solo roaming (honestly, what class isn’t viable for roaming?)
PvE, again, irrevelent, but other classes do it far better than ranger.
ranger is not meta anywhere. They are good in a few modes, but not amazing or anything. They severely SUCK in other modes…
Necros are in a fine state (outside PvE).
I play a variation of survival condi trap ranger in sPvP and I personally have had great success with it. Some times I get out played if my opponent is familiar with my build or if their build counters condition based builds in general but, for the most part, with all of the defensive skills I have coupled with my ability to burst on a fairly short cooldown out of no where, I feel like most battles are in my favor. I can even run settlers with spring trap without changing my build much or at all to better assist in group fights or to be more durable in general at the cost of 300 condi dmg and precision (which atm I’m not taking advantage of but don’t want to inflate my health with carrion as I already run survival to counter conditions.)
Also, power ranger LB/GS has to be the most boring build to play in existance. Haha

LB rangers: donno.. i think that 2 taunt/fear/chill, 1 kd every 12 secs and stealth is a good skillset for utilities/defense, and aa with 2# deal a lot of dmg
