If you feel that downed states ‘kill again or run’ and ‘legs broken, lets spam #1’ adds amazing depth to the game, then either you or the game must be heavily lacking in depth to begin with.

I think the main issues with downed state is the inequality of class skills. The fact that stability makes half the classes #2 skill worthless, or a block can prevent some of the others. Then there are those, like the thief and mez, that can recharge fast enough to use it multiple times before being spiked down.

I’m not saying they should all be identical, but stability and blocks shouldn’t prevent people from getting their skill to be effective. It is supposed to be balanced, and right now these skills aren’t balanced.

the party with less numbers is not suppose to win the battle and come out alive. especially in a 1 vs 2 situation.

Why not? In fact, in a game mode that by desing has many 1 vs 2 encounters, you’d except 1v2 to be possible.

I know that probably has been a post like that previously but dont get me wrong, downed state is very useful in Dungeon and generally PvE and in many occasions in WvW, but is completely annoying and useless in PvP. For example something that happened to everyone, you were dueling someone and you beat him while he`s on downed state you are trying to finish him and someone else takes advantage of your low health and defeats you and you neither got a kill or had the time to escape because you were busy FINISHING THE PREVIOUS PLAYER!!! i mean what??? and thats just one example of why downed state doesnt have place to an intense game feature such as PvP! Anet if you want your game to have at least a chance in Esports little things like that, have to change!

Never gonna happen. Downed state is fine. This is a team game and you don’t defeat an opponent until you stomp them. Until you haven’t done that, there will be a chance that a team mate will come and turn the fight around.

Downed state demands quick and smart thinking in team fights and it’s an integral part of gw2. I suggest you get used to downed state and understand the great plays that can be made with it.

Down state is stupid in pvp, when some dies they should be dead unless your teammate has a res signet.

When you are in down state you aren’t dead yet.

Downed state is fine? Do you understand game mechanics?

Let me make this easy for everyone. In dodgeball, if you catch the other player’s ball, you get to bring 1 person back into the game.

The way downed state currently works in GW2 is that when you catch the other player’s ball (meaning you stomp someone) you can technically bring back the ENTIRE TEAM

That is not fair, and should be limited to 1 res, not the 4-5 who tagged him.

The way it currently plays is BEYOND broken.

You can rub downed players while stealthed, taking damage and while being invincible.

Here’s the best part….

You can have 5 people rubbing a downed player and heal them faster than the incoming damage.

It’s so difficult for me to take this nonsense seriously in a PVE environment. In PVP it’s just hilarious.

I’d be very interested to hear a developer talk about core GW2 PVP game rules and gameplay systems. The reasons behind their existence and the logic behind their implementation.

However since I doubt that’ d never happen, I can tell you what the game does need, is Rez Penalties….

you get back up from being downed, You should eat a very nasty Stat Penalty that should last at least 2 minutes.

you get back up from being downed, You should eat a very nasty Stat Penalty that should last at least 2 minutes.

Key word 4 times, if he gets downed that much then its his team and the game mechanic carrying him. Which makes it hard to take pvp seriously when stuff like that happens.

Idc about pve when it comes to downstate, its cool there. But it needs to leave wvw/pvp or get a redesign.

freshly rallied players have less health.

if the team’s dps cc condition damage etc is strong enough they will be downed again very quickly.

Point is, team work is more fun if its preventing death, not playing the classes best suited for stomps/rallies and playing on the floor. This argument will never end though. Some people like it, some people hate it, its certainly too late to change it, but I KNOW, 100%, this whole game would have been better if it didn’t have it from the start, and was balanced around not having it in the first place.

reviving downed team mate is preventing death.

I KNOW, 100%, this whole game would have been better if it didn’t have it from the start, and was balanced around not having it in the first place.

would it help the case if downed health is based on our vitality?

at the wiki page, i found no indication of downed health at all.

After over a minute (a VERY long time in pvp) of getting a player down, finally, and just about to “fishish” him, and another player stops me as I am ALREADY into the finishing move.

I don’t understand and it doesn’t seem logical that I am in the position of killing, already past up, on my way down and I am stopped by a player who doesn’t do a darned thing but hit me once?

I agree!!! Get RID of the downed state in PVP, the mechanic doesn’t belong.

Downed state is there to make up for the lack of healers that other mmo games have. If we didn’t have it, we would need a lot more support abilities added to the game. Fights would be over too fast, burst would be king and there would be little point of team support. An ability to toggle down state off in custom arenas would be nice to make use of for dueling, but as I said people would get sick of being 100-0 bursted instantly from a team stealth opener in normal matches. At least now it can be countered with a rez utility or a skill such as shadow refuge to revive.
