I am strongly against this. I want more build diversity, not less. In worst cases I have been experiencing matches which have 6 dragonhunter guardians (3 DH on both sides). Having such extreme class stacking is detrimental to the spvp scene.

It is obvious that the new elite specilizations are indeed stronger than the core class. In fact I rarely ever seen an enemy mesmer without chronomancer, ranger without druid, necro without reaper or engineer without the hammer etc. But you can still win and sometimes even decide the match if you play a so called “inferior” build, if you know what you are doing. Hundreds of hours of experience on playing so called “bad” build > better build with less experience if you play at medium to low levels, like most of us do. I admit that at the very top, you are forced to use the best builds, since the margins are so small.

I am often playing myself old school sw+wh/lb warrior in ranked. Despite I always solo queue, I still have 59.26% win rate in ranked and over 60% win rate in leagues (this stat is now disabled, so I cannot check it). I don’t remember the last time I saw another warrior play such old school build. Sometimes I see other warriors, but they are all using greatsword and/or rifle. I hope Arenanet will soon do something about warrior sustain without forcing us to choose berserker, the base spec sustain should also be buffed. At the same time, scrapper engi sustain is too high compared to the damage it can dish out. Engineer is my main, but I don’t want the core engineer sustain to be nerfed (then it would reduce build diversity and forcing everybody to choose scrapper to be competent). The specializations brought the massive power creep, which now needs to be toned down across the board.

1. Lets remove people without Elite spec from ranked. —-—>

3. Lets now remove people who are not playing the meta elite specs used in ESL (so go away daredevil, berserker and DH) —-——>
4. Lets now remove people below a certain MMR because we dont want noobs in our teams even if they are playing the meta top class builds.

and actually endgame elites are branless. also gw2 base builds, taking players with the same skill, are underpowered.

i doubt pvp players will be into buying gems or doing pve.

anet will not make money trying to sell hot to pvp players ( cause there are other pvp games, and the actual spvp is not good ).

I mean, i think anet is pointing more to pve players to make profit. Not the pvp ones.

I only have time to play casually a few evenings a week on my vanilla Ranger.

I started playing soloQ ranked after Christmas and have cruised easily into Sapphire without any issues or feeling like I’m letting teams down. My play style is roamer, to +1 and offering support where needed, as well as decapping far and making a general nuisance of myself. I can usually hold my own on point against most if needed.

I am however now considering running a more ‘meta’ Druid build from here on out to compare notes versus my vanilla ranger build to try and become even more competitive in the upper echelons.

I’m not keen on the idea of a Druid bunker role however, is there any viable Druid build that will offer the same ‘roamer’ playstyle?

Can you remove people without elite specs from ranked matches? I am tired of having them on my team and lowering my win chances. At the very least try to put people without HoT/elite specs into their own teams so I dont have to play with them.

How about…. kitten no? Actually, nobody gives a kitten about your win chance and nobody gives a kitten about you. Build diversity is bad as it is and players like you continue to degrade PvP scene even further.
Get productive instead and provide feedback how to improve PvP state instead of this.

Oh, and if I play with you in ranked, I’ll AFK just to annoy you.

If you aren’t able to carry your team or rather to contribute enough to the win, you lose – easy.
If your mmr is low and if you playe with/against randoms 24/7 you should get a decent winrate tho.
Not to mention, that the enemy team also will get people with non HoT-players. So I would suggest to Mr. 30k-achievment points stop to blame other people and try to improve yourself.

So you soloQ knowing the risk of class stackin, premades and non elite specs but you play it anyway, but sulk because you have them 3 on your team and demand that they should be removed from ranked (non hot people) sounds very selfish to me lol.

From what I see here is that you weren’t contributing much. You do low damage while you are not holding points.

Your team were carrying the weight while you go all around and pew pew from a far. It is extremely easy to get high amount of score as a Pew pew ranger.

Bunkers do not get as much score yet they are the players that make the game. I rather drop you for the other teammates.

There are still valid builds for non HoT players. I still use a non-HoT build on my engi even though I own it. Guardian and Engineer are a few of those.

But ye, ive just started to level my pre hot account up a bit. Dmg seems fine and is actually quite good vs some of the meta monkeys.

Dont make me laugh. Advancing in leagues is just a matter of luck and the amount of games you play. Today I gained 8 pips, while the last two days together gave me +3 pips. It is all about luck if you win, really.

You can play w/o HoT, you just need to be better than enemy. I am running vanilla do build because i hate daredevil design and i am doing fine however i agree elites are just stupidly ovetuned due to dubious marketing strategies and need massive nerfing.

everything works if you are better than the enemy, but why use something that disadvantages you against equally skilled players?

It’s not as simple as people having or not having HoT. I have it, I am a Mesmer main, and I detest Chronomancer. I simply will not play it, so that leaves me out of sPvP until such time, if or when, the elites are toned down to where core profession builds are on an equal or nearly equal footing.

I would rather play (unranked) with someone like that Guardian in the story above, someone who runs something he enjoys, than with someone who picks apart the builds and playstyles of others. Sure, some builds will be nothing but luggage, but I’d prefer people “play their way” (I’m sure I’ve seen that tag line somewhere…) as much as possible. Under the current garbage meta, it’s an ill-conceived notion, so I’d rather not play at all.

I was playing S/F vanilla ele. I did pretty good. Most people dont even know the scepter skills so they dont dodge lightning flash + phoenix combo. Its fun.

I am dead serious about this. If I see a guard without dragon hunter or engineer without scrapper spec I always cringe.

If i see a dragonhunter i cry with joy. Classic bunker guards are much harder to kill.
Also, i’d rather be on a team with cele necro, than with a berserker or daredevil. The first case will have a much better chance to know what they’re doing.

Also remember, that once you will take away all the non-hot specs, you will take them from the opposite side as well. Your chances of winning will not go up.

As long as they try hard I am fine with that. I play multiple classes, too.

Well I just lost 2 pips because of a stupid guard who had 0 personal score. nice. We didnt even loose that badly (292:501) because I killed their lord. I guess it would have been -3 pips if I didnt do that

What has personal score to do with it? I thought this pathetic perception of personal score had been dealt with.

If he had 0 score he obviously did not even assist in a kill. All he did was running around mindlessly and bragging that he got the top player – most damage award at the end of the game.

The fact that threads like these exists is a proof that ANet failed with HoT balance. They said that Elite specs wouldn’t be any better than the current specs, but they would add something new to the current professions – which is fine.

But when they make them so good that people see them as mandatory to use then there’s something very wrong.

Tbh, I miss the old days before we got elite specs and the new talent rework :/

This is a balance problem, I like to play core necro, I love it, and still works, but I cannot say the same of my warrior, my favorite build of all times (3 years) in this game is useless now, I can’t kill ANYTHING at all, it’s a joke now.

Then he was a bad player because of how he behave not because of his score. You can be the MVP of a match and score 0 (true story). Just stop making such associations. You will only make this ridiculous superstition even worse. Next time tell us what the player did or not instead or relying on his score. We already have too many idiots in game that are obviously more concerned about their points then their team’s.
