Its worse than that actually. You can name every single build each of those classes are playing and its the same on every team.
There is ZERO build diversity in pvp right now.
It’s like AN is making it so one build is super viable for some professions and that’s it. Why AN, why?

Pretty much only 2 teams have run the same comp so far (Vermillion and Super Smash), running Druid/Ele/Rev/Mes/Nec.
Other than that we have seen Warriors and Thieves, teams without Eles and Mesmers.
What is worse though, is the poor state these teams are in. It is apparent barely any of them have played this game much, not taking the competition any serious anymore. Too much kitten has gone down.
Just saw Rank 55 Dragons w the teef . Was very nice to see.

Build diversity is why I wanted the removal of spectate. Having strong builds circulate happened faster with spectate than without it. Spectate delayed the meta and made many different builds seem viable. It also gave guilds secrets to share so they could have an edge verses other guilds. This is why many players left when spectate was added. The mystery behind the game was revealed. Its like someone gave them the spoiler to a movie and now they can’t watch it.

If a player knows anything about his class, finding an efficient build in GW2 is very easy to do. Tage brought about Hammer meta on Guardian but players weren’t exactly efficient in it in soloQ. It didn’t make the average player any better and it didn’t “reveal secrets” that good players didn’t already know… besides, GW2 is already so complex that players need guidelines to follow.
The highest diversity the game ever seen was the patch before HoT.

Actually every single proffession was played and a lot had multiple builds played even if they were similar…warrior had at least 2 on the day(between na and eu), rev had at least 3….

To be fair, thinking that every class is now meta should be deceptive and naive.
Rev and Mesmer are almost mandatory; Mesmer ads a huge amount of utility to the team gameplay and the difference in map control between team with and without was pretty evident yesterday. Then you have Ele and Ranger: is not mandatory to have both, but at least one of them is required and if you have them your sustain will be excellent is n vs n skirmishes. Alternatively, Scrapper can replace one of them or fight for the 5th place. And talking about the last slot, Thief is pretty much the best choice: paired with Rev you have a huge spike in burst potential, and combined with Mesmer you will have huge map control.
So that’s all: Mes, Rev, then Ele, Ranger and Thief; you can swap one of the later ones by a Scrapper, but so far no place for Necro, Warrior or Guardian. We saw some in the last night matches, but just because personal choices (players who main them), not due they are strong.
Honestly from my view, none of the classes are pushovers EXCEPT for guardian. Warriors, necros and engineers may not be the “meta”, but they’re not trash either, they can be used effectively. Guardians, though, got hammered. We warriors know how they feel.
Balance within the scope of elite specs is improving, but they’re still way above all other specs overall.

I agree except i would say:
S tier(needed): mesmer, rev
A tier (need at least 1): ele, druid
A- tier: thief
B+ tier: necro, warrior
B tier: (engi)
B- tier: guardian
I would say best comp would be necro over thief tho due to unblockable marks, that constant condi application through blocks is huge in team fights…i put engi lower because they are just too easily overpowered now, they can last a while but provide no pressure unlike necro and warrior who both can sustain awhile but also provides tons of pressure
Edit: also if you dont take ele and ranger both i think engi becomes a lot better choice

Yea, I think Sindrener has shown off the value of thief with a lot of the plays he’s pulled off lately, even if he’s still on a team that’s not doing so hot right now.
While there is nearly no build diversity only guardian got the realy short stick now. It´s quite clear that balance is done very narrow to get each class pvp viable but ease balance and make teams similar. Its useable for e-sports but a pitty for diversity and the rest of the game which is about 99% of all GW players. This means the process is too slow and its possible we start all over with next expansion, meaning we will never get back good diversity and balance in all game modes.

No, becuase the game is not balanced around pro league. Last season necros and DH were very popular, porbably even more compared to some of the proffasions you mentioned. We’ll c if this season warriors and theives will be good enough.
DH is a very good class for beginners and still nice in intermidiate game. It looses if the oponent knows how to play against them and is able to master his own class.

DH was decent in the lower tiers in Season 2, but with the True Shot nerf they are a lot less useful now. The buff to LB 3 (as compensation for the 20% nerf to True Shot) is a joke since a 90 year old with one leg could side step that shot, its so slow. So buffing it didnt really accomplish anything.

I didn’t say you were right or wrong. I responded to you asking what teams didn’t have those four professions… Earlier in the thread someone already mentioned that other team compositions were used, and I said awesome. Calm down man. This isn’t about being right or wrong. It’s about having a discussion.

It’s actually quite a bit more effort than most other burst skills on any class. From that prospective, what about traps need to be nerfed?

If the snare on great sword is used it can one shot 5 heavy armor golems In less than half a second. That’s 22,084 health and 2,595 armor according to gw2 wikki.
The traps themselves need to have damage reduced by 10-30% depending on the trap. The more damage the higher percentage of damage reduction.

I’m pretty sure the pull is blockable, but it’s the initial tether that’s unblockable.
It is worth testing however, I know that the pull is not able to be evaded. And the initial tether is unblock-able. The cast time is also a little bit too fast for a projectile of its range.

They won’t do it because you supposed to dodge it among all other things DH throws at you. Anet also ignored the fact for months now that this very pull launches target 900 ft into air so they take extra fall dmg.

I can confirm that that is dodgeable.
Edit: I misunderstood. I can’t confirm whether the pull itself is dodgeable, only the intial application.

I can confirm that that is dodgeable.

I already complained about getting interrupted by guardian cages and being unable to dodge out of them. But these discoveries are more unsettling considering the effect it has on skill based gameplay even if guardian isn’t overpowered sustain wise. (Spear of justic + binding blade can stop a player for two knockdowns unless they have stab-ability if chained with virtually no other options for counter play.

I can confirm that that is dodgeable.

I think DH’s play style will annihilate not as experienced or unaware players. Players that can focus on what the DH is doing, or understand their play style will not have a difficult time beating one. This is an opinion born from fighting many different types of players.

Please don’t ask for DH F1 to be nerfed. It’s not OP. If a thief gets caught in any type of burst it will be blown up. Thief’s play style is based on avoiding damage entirely, so if you get caught, you’re done!
