Revenant ridiculous
Revenants most potent heal relies on you attacking him when he presses it (blue buff icon). If you dont attack him during this period …he will die a lot faster.
Playing against a competent opponent as Revenant is always scary because you go to activate your Glint heal, heal maybe 2k, and then your opponent realizes what’s going on leaving you with a very pitiful heal.
If they’re negating your damage with shield 5 after your rotation, that says a lot more about how much damage you’re actually putting out than how much they’re actually healing.

+1
Skill 5 on shield is suicide button. You are rooted and enemy has enough time to prepare burst DMG =)

They are not op, they are weak against condi pressure depending on build and their heal can be countered just don’t hit them during glint heal and you should always initiate the fight aggressively so they go defensive mode and force their defensive cooldowns.
Don’t have that much of a problem with revenants being OP, but for the love of god Anet please stop with all the passive stuff. We should be promoting active play and skill, not the opposite. Revenant has a ridiculously low learning curve
Revenants are so ridiculous in PvP lol. The amount of sustain and mobility is close to impossible to beat. I manage to dodge sword 3 most of the time but by the time I’m done dodging, revenant has a bunch of boons that come out of nowhere. Its frustrating to do my full damage rotation only to have them block heal and basically negate everything I’ve done.
Did u know that winning requires class knowledge and speed in this game? Perhaps try and learn the opponents mechanic to work around it as others do, than telling UFO stories.
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore

Just remember, waste all of your dodges and blocks on their 12 cd broken assault, don’t hit them when they heal, don’t hit them when they are blocking, don’t hit them while they are moving and blocking and dodge the constantly evading broken assault again and you might survive for a minute.
One spam to rule them all!

Not Revenant. Herald. And I’d say it’s true just when we’re talking about that single build everyone copy-pastes.
Actual Revenant has extremaly steep learning curve, easily on par, if not surpassing, Thief, Engineer and Mesmer.
It’s just that in PvP playing without Shield and Glint (which is really easy Legend compared to any else) is basically a suicide at the moment. Core Revenant is somewhere between current state of Warrior and Thief.
As for OP, tell me what profession you play and I will try my best to give you a list of things you can do to improve your play against regular power revenant aside from duelling one and practicing.

Sword has such easy damage on it from it’s autoattack to it’s afk skill 3 making revenant very difficult to ignore for even a second. They usually end up stealing priority which in itself makes them strong.
The l2p issues are big in this one.
DON’T ATTACK REV DURING GLINT HEAL!!!
Rev is hard counter for every single zerker build. “dont attack during glint heal” yeah… but theres still 3 blocks left, attacks with evades (and deal way too much damage for such a low cd.). If ur not necro you are out of luck. Oh wait they also share perma every boon with max stacks Also they skill cap for revenant seems to be super low considered its to replace mesmer / thief.
Best thing to do is to make revenant shield blocks to not hold cap for starters…
GAME IS HARD.

You guys are full of kitten if you believe Rev is balanced, but it shouldnt be shocking. Expansion just released, things are going to be imbalanced.
there are tons of counterplay possibles, but I agree that not every build has them available. It’s a very strong skill I agree, but I think it’s one of the cornerstones of why rev even works.
best counters are evades or blocks. Interrupts are kinda hard to land, since many rev’s run a decent amount of stability.
Rev is currently a bit too strong, since he can go full glass and still win many 1v1’s against 1v1-builds and pointholders need to make great efforts in their build (or even choosing to play different node-holders or 1v1-builds), simply because of the rev. I don’t think they need to change things like Sword 3 fundamentally, they can literally just tweak the DMG and maybe make some of the defensive CD’s not have such low CD’s.
They wanted to sell xpac, idk what else you expected~

So much Lols
I play a mesmer with staff and s/s and rarely am I able to kill a revenant. Most of the time I just run around them and hope someone else comes. Since mesmers aren’t the best at condis, you can see my issue. I also play a ranger but I was just getting destroyed

Both Mesmer and Ranger have serious advantage over other professions when it comes to reducing Unrelenting Assault’s damage – UA splits it’s damage between targets within range. First and last attack will always land on primary target, but other 5 are split randomly between everything around the primary target.
It means that your pet alone as Ranger is likely to eat 40% UA damage by simply existing, for Mesmer with clones up this negation is even higher, since it will drag Revenant from one clone to another.
Best counter to “meta” Power Revenant spamming UA is confusion. Period. The way Unrelenting Assault works, each of 7 hits is treated as separate ability by confusion, so having even small amount of it on Revenant will make him trigger it 7 times over 2 seconds and it’s serious backfire damage he can do nothing about. Torment also works at 100% strenght with UA since it’s constantly moving you.
Stealthing of primary target stops Unrelenting Assault instantly, even brief one.
Getting out of range of UA is also a thing – it has 450 range for activation. Stow-cancelling it puts it on full cooldown currently. If you interrupt Revenant during the wind-up animation it will also consume energy and go on full cooldown instead of short one.
During the skill, primary target of UA has full control over Revenant’s positioning. Revenant can’t cancel it early. I’ve seen players dragging Revenants out of the range of their allies into DH traps, Warriors landing huge Eviscerates right after UA finishes, people carrying Revenant with themselves to decap the point. There’s a short aftercast after finishing UA when Revenant is vulnerable but doesn’t have full control yet – if you’re quick enough, you can burst in this window.
Watch out for Revenant activating the Shiro’s heal before UA. These green floating daggers. A lot of huge Revenant 1v1 burst comes actually from siphoning of these daggers – use your distortions/defensives there. It will stop both the main spike and cancel about ~4k healing.
Or you can just hug any wall. Unrelenting Assault bugs out when it strikes targets near walls, completly stopping the ability.
As a side thing – bringing any unblockable CCs and saving it for Soothing Bastion proc (the block at 25% hp) then interrupting it is very likely to really screw Revenant up and will make newb ones panic.
Hope it helps.

It is not possible to avoid the dmg/heal from Shiro’s heal. Unless you never get hit for the whole duration of 15 sec. Which is usually not possible (maybe unless you are a thief/mesmer and sit constantly in stealth – but then you won’t kill the rev anyway).

I’m talking about avoiding it when it’s being used together with UA for major spike, maybe not avoiding it entirely, which, as you pointed out, is harder. Splitting this damage is always better than taking majority of it at once in one huge burst. And since this combo is the only one described on metabattle, I don’t think vast majority of Revenants you’ll face is creative enough to make other combos with it, copy-pasting it from some website.

A lot of people are running Glint/Shiro atm because it is the only viable thing they have.
Going other legends or weps just gets you killed easily right now.

I don’t know why people keep saying Revenant when in reality it’s the Herald. More specifically the Glint/Shiro legends, which also recently got significant nerfs. The core Revenant is low tier at best and it has no viable builds in this current (evolving) meta.

This is true, even with all the information people are posting, advising players on how to counter UA and some other fundamental tips, they will still cry for nerfs. Good players, good revenants will still land full UA chains on people because they will bait blocks/cooldowns then burst when the opponent is vulnerable. THAT is the reason why people will cry and complain unil it’s nerfed into uselessness, because thats’s easier than figuring out how to counter it.

Not trying to be a jerk, but do you know what you are even talking about? Please role a rev first and try it before calling them ridiculous. It is quite easy to tell you have not yet given your post(s).

I have played a rev actually and find that overall, the Shiro/glint combo in PvP is probably one of the only viable builds in PvP. The problem with that is Shiro is the damage legend and Glint is the support elite who can not only give all those boons constantly to the rev but other team players, making it frustrating to fight. Combine both of them and you got the sustain and damage of pre Nerf D/D eles. (With the exception of very little condi removal)
I love all the threads on this forum. Everything is op for everyone, excluding berserker coz the spec is pure garbage.
