Rewarding Defending Players
Yeah that’s fine and all, I mean the defending thing you mentioned, no doubt.
But to say that the PvE in GW2 is amazing and exciting? Seriously? I’d give it bearable at the most, even then I’d have to be generous.
I guess there are bonuses if u kill someone while defending, am I wrong?
But yes maybe there should be also a general defending glory gain.

How exactly do you plan on afk’ing in gw2 pvp? Maybe just sit on a node the whole game while u go fap? Yeh cos no enemy is going to come kill you and take the node.
Be realistic with your arguments please.

This is a problem yes. As a guardian I really like to defend a node and it feels so stupidly unrewarding when you manage to keep the node in a 1v2 situation for a long time and then they finally manage to beat you and you get nothing for it.
I agree 100%, but it’s not just defending. There are alot of situations you get paltry points as a reward for, but are very helpful for your team – If I neutralize a point, then keep it neutralized for 30s against 3 players, that’s a huge bonus for my team – I’m keeping points away from the competition, and giving us a 2 man advantage. When I eventually die, without scoring a single real kill, I’ve earned all of 10 points for neutralizing their cap. That in no way reflects how much I did for the success of the team.
There are dozens more situations I could list that are similarly poorly compensated compared to the level of contribution they serve, but it would be pointless. Honestly, rewards have to be map wide, with small bonuses. Everyone on the team gets 5 points a cap, everyone on the team gets 10 points a kill, with the actual killer getting an additional 5. That’s the only way to promote smart play, rather than zerg teams that lose the match but make twice as much glory/rank points because they were always fighting with superior numbers.

the game rewards the zerg and not the lone player being a factor to their team’s victory. so many times when playing as a mesmer troll I’ve kept 2-3 enemies at their closest point most of the match while the rest of my team zergs the other two collecting all the kill points. at the end of the match i may come out with as much as 10-20 points while the rest are 200+
Actually, twice now I’ve seen my fellow team mate run away from the node when he/she realized there was more people attacking than there was defending. And then I was alone fighting against 3-4 people. Fun times.
