Scrap Skyhammer!!!
Dont like the map? Dont play it. Problem solved. Some of us enjoy pushing people off the edges.

That is a great idea except for the fact that I am forced to play it in tpvp. I suppose if I couldn’t 1v1 I would like to push people over the edge as well. I personally like to fight in PVP and not exploit a map.

You shouldn’t play GW if you enjoy pushing people off the edges tbh. And it’s the minority who actually enjoys it, and this, because they are mostly not able to reach anything in “normal” PvP.
My advice: Play Super Smash Bros.

Well, then don’t join match if the map is Skyhammer. There, problem solved again. You’re welcome.
I posted a topic like this but got deleted….. This map is ridiculous . I killed several times a necromancer in 1 vs 1 only to be pushed by fear’s skill when he was lying on the floor . This map is a joke .

Looks like positioning isn’t your strong point.
@Dhunis
You seem to be not that experienced. Solo Q maps are randomized, so it’s not possible to “choose maps”- This for your “don’t join the match” statement.
People like you are posting as well for balance changes / improvements, without having any clue of PvP. And since the Dev’s are listening to such people, this will make this game worse, even it’s already broken like hell.
I wish I could exclude this map from my solo-queue.
Really, I should be able too. I’m sorry I have no knockbacks or fears on my class but instead Shadowsteps that are constantly bugging out due to the holes in the floor.
This map has nothing to offer me.

You do see the map that has been chosen before the match starts therefore have the option not to enter the match by logging out.

You have a pull, though, Mr Thief.
Guess you are bad at being pushed/pushing people.
Play smart and don’t get on the gun. Stay on point B if you are so bad that you can’t use stability, dodge, or stun break out of pushes.
There said it.

I giggled a little.
Skyhammer is AWESOME!
This map promotes & requires an entirely different gameplay which is the key problem for most people that dislike it. They go in applying the same build, strategy and fighting patterns assuming its all that is needed. For most profession just changing the weapon or a few utilities is enough, but many refuse. On top of doing regular damage, positioning now become important for your survival and also your opportunity to kill.
I wreck this warrior in the room and he bolts out. I get on the cannon then next thing I know I’m falling.
Using the canon isn’t risk free. You need to watch your back and not be tunnel vision trying to shoot the cannon. Position the canon camera angle so you can see when they are about to enter the cannon room. Exiting the cannon room to reset and come back is a strategy, and you got outplayed.

A thief is really hard to knock off if they use their abilities correctly.
-Stealth, stand on glass panel, scorpian wire pull, dodge off
-Use steal f1 ability to port back if you get knocked or feared off, or shadow trap or shadowstep or sword 2.
-Use steal f1 to remove stability or sword3 skill and gain stability/fear ability
-Blind them to prevent being knocked back and wasting their CD

Solo queue does not have a replacement mechanism. Every time you do that, a match starts with four players on one team vs. five on the other.
On topic: the map is annoying but it can be dealt with. Good positioning will save you from fears and most knockbacks. Pulls are much more dangerous.
The cannon is too strong. As far as the rest of the map’s challenges it’s more of a L2P issue than anything.
The cannon is a deathtrap if you don’t have CC to knock them off with. Engi and Guardian are really good there because the Engi has the AoE damage to destroy people with and Guard has the stability and CC to rack up kills from knock offs.

Way to think of only yourself. How do you think your teams experience is now? All your fault. People like you deserve to be banned.
Crysis, Lil Damage, Ovi, Jindavikk, Guard

There really does need to be a timed lockout for people who do not participate in matches they’ve queued up for. Even if it’s just a couple minutes at least there are some consequences for hanging their team out to dry like a coward
My advice: Play Super Smash Bros.
lol I was going to say that.
Ok so this one map has an added knock off possibility. Why is that worth scrapping the entire level again? Because you don’t like it? Just put it on your list of least favorite PvP maps, pound your fist on your keyboard and swear when it comes into rotation, and move on like everyone else. There have been plenty of games where I hated a particular map, I never complained about it needing to be removed, I would just say “Ugh, I hate this map!” and proceed to play my best at it.
Man people these days. If I don’t like it, then it needs to be removed…riiiiiiight
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
There seems to be a divide between people who dislike the map for pvp purpose and those that like the exploits of it. Those that like exploiting the map are also missing the fact at how unbalanced this is as some classes have far better abilities than others to exploit the map. If it is true that I just need to “learn” how to play the map then all of the classes need revamping to even the playing field of “throw your opponent over the edge.” Like someone mentioned though is this super smash bros. or GW2 PVP?
I can beat people in PVP all day just to get thrown over the edge one way or another. It really sucks the fun out of a true battle of player vs player and undermines what true PVP is about. Until there is a fix or even word of a fix I intend to vote with my money in not purchasing gems. I don’t like to as I like many aspects of the game but like I said it really sucks the fun out of the game for me. If it is no longer fun why pay and why play?
They’ll replace it with Capricorn and then you will beg on your knees for it back if it means no Capricorn.
Save Skyhammer! One of the more exciting maps. and I too love shoving people off the side of the map! This map is about strategy and if your falling off the edge all the time you have a poor strategy on this map. Unlike other maps you can run around aimlessly you have to worry about position.

I guess you failed to read the bit about the imbalance between classes for getting people off the edge. That’s fine and dandy if that is the route Anet wants to go but at the VERY least make it even. Overhauling the map sounds a lot easier of a task vs tweaking every single class for one map.
Skyhammer is my favorite map.
I am a Condition Necromancer.
I like Skyhammer.
I like Capricorn too. :x
Sometimes you just want to have fun and not care about balance.
i like skyhammer. i wouldnt mind couple of rails here and there (a little too much of jumping puzzle), but with that toned down, i’m fine with it. really makes you think about positioning.
I want a map with Deadly Traps. The jp on the eg is so boring nowadays.

‘Exploting the map’ is glory farming not pushing people off the edges. I think developers during creating Skyhammer had in mind that people will use their push/pull abilities to their advantage. You have 6 other maps where you can experience more or less ‘true battle of player vs player’.
How do you people want more modes if you can’t adapt to different playstyle in the same mode.
If they could at least make the cannon fire dodgeable would be a start to making the map a bit more enjoyable (the damage + ease of a skillshot + a knockdown = crazy). Also, it is the only map that causes me to lag and/or rubberband. I’m not a fan of all the potential ways to fall through the map either (just a tad excessive IMO), but I wouldn’t expect that part to change now. All that said I would be very pleased for it to leave the solo queue rotation, and stay in hotjoin.
Fighting is all about what you can and can’t do. It is obvious you can’t do Skyhammer.
I love this map on my guard/necro. I like to see how many 4s i can get or how many fears i can get off the cannon. Im currently at 8 for a match. I hope to hit 10 someday. :p

This map is really leaving a bad taste in my mouth with PVP and GW2 in general. PVP is about the fight not a shoving match on who can get who over the edge. I wreck this warrior in the room and he bolts out. I get on the cannon then next thing I know I’m falling. All I can do is laugh at how utterly ridiculous it is. Until this map is overhauled or scrapped I won’t buy anymore gems to support this game. That’s my opinion take it or leave it.
I and many others will disagree with you on this one — Skyhammer is quite innovative and refreshing in some ways. If you are afraid of being shoved of the edge, then you’re missing some of the fundamental points of PVP and the game overall. I am sure you have various anti-fear, anti-knockdowns spells/utilities you can use, not to mention avoiding defending or attacking near the edge. Despite the game’s flaws and balancing problems, it is about adapting offense/defense styles and strategy.
Don’t be surprised if you do not get many votes for this one, my friend.
I think its kinda fun and very different game-play. Its almost like a different game-mode. It also makes you think of interesting ways to use your skills.
I will say, if you are on cannon- you should be keeping an eye on the map-portal at all times, as it is relatively easy to see if someone is approaching and be prepared to fight back on them.

I didn’t miss the points you did. I don’t even play this map with an ability that knocks anyone anywhere. I just make sure Im think two steps ahead and position myself so Im not blasted off the edge. Again this map is the most strategic map of the bunch and you can’t run around aimlessly like you can on all the other or you will be blasted off the edge or fall through a floor. Play smart and always be thinking about position. I have found this think also prevents putting your self in harms way a lot less on other maps.
The map is OK, as someone else mentioned, I wouldn’t mind a few more ledges here and there, or maybe more space to move around.
What’s more annoying to me, though, is that I (theoritically) have to fundamentally change spec/weapons to play the map to its best potential, because it favours some specific sets so much.
In truth, I don’t care to do this but I know I’m gimping myself/my team and this isn’t too cool I think.
After reading the replies I think the thing to take away from this is that people tend to either love it or hate it.
If you play a class that has op abilities that can take full advantage of the map you probably love it. You probably tell others how great of a map this is and how it requires a degree of learning how to adapt to new adversities. You probably tell others that they just don’t know how to play and chalk it up to them being noobs and you are elite. It has nothing to do with one class outmatching the other classes ability to launch noobs over the edge. NONE at all.
If you play a class with crappy abilities for this map that results in you doing a head first flying squirrel over the edge every five seconds you probably hate Skyhammer. You might log out whenever you are forced to play the map in tpvp thereby ruining it for others. You might stay somewhat neutral on the matter in fear of looking like a “noob” from those that enjoy the perks of their class and this map. Regardless of your stance or lack thereof you still get outmatched by overpowered abilities for this map and end up over the edge like the noob you are.

Every class has an ability that pushes or pulls someone off the edge. Like some else said, it’s all about paying attention to your positioning and trying to prevent any possible situation that sends you careening of the edge.
I’ve played a mesmer with just Greatsword on this map and GS doesn’t knock people back too far.

At least smash bro’s has a counter to getting pushed off ledges. Trollhammer on the other hand… e-sports yolo
Skyhammer is one of the most fun maps. I hope they’ll make more like it.
that map wouldnt be that bad if people couldnt change their build specially for that map… thats where the problem is… not many people run usually build focused on knockbacks etc
It’s all about positioning and paying attention to where you are. Once you get to the point where it’s second nature to find a viable position, you will get kills more easily. I love this map on my Engie and Ranger where I use my knock back to my advantage. If you are playing with your back against a ledge, you need to rethink your strategy. Adjustment to your environment and positioning is a key thing in this game and this map really puts that mechanic in the spotlight Sometimes we may think something is broken in a game only to realize later that it is actually how we are going about handling it that needs adjusting.
Should not be on solo q, but whats a few people feedback on the forums matter.
Maybe it’s just me, but why can’t we just have a pvp mode where all you do is kill the other team? Why do I need to capture nodes and pry the noobs/cowards off the trebs…..why can’t people just stop abusing and exploiting things because they didn’t actually bother to learn how combat works. I just don’t understand why these people do these things and are then proud of it, as if I’m the baddie because I didn’t do it first. Makes no sense to me, but maybe I just expect too much out of people these days…..Deathmatches in PvP are the standard so why this option doesn’t exist is beyond me, but then I don’t really understand why all our stats in SPvP are tunneled through one amulet, because it certainly doesn’t balance anything. Well, kitten it, I’m outta here like Chuck Norris

Why should we have to compromise our playstyle because the devs came up with an Environment that simply doesn’t promote the type of combat that they themselves created in the first place? I don’t want to play a game of who can knock who off which ledge, I wanna just be able to fight against others without getting beat because someone’s sitting on a treb shooting me, or someones on the skyhammer gun spamming it, or because I got feared off a ledge -_- stop defending something you know is wrong just because you gave up and decided to live with it instead of speaking what’s really on your mind(god forbid!!)
