you can’t anticipate when mesmer gonna pull you into hole on hammer platform because while you are loading into platform he already pulled you and you have 0 chance to react

then i go back to were i died with stability ready and kill him. sure its cheap that some of these people do these strategies, but is it really that much cheaper then using a bunker engineer to defend a point?

any real “exploit” mesmer on skyhammer is running nullfield (Or arcane thievery or both) + boon removal on shatter..

Wait, wat. When we (mesmers) do a pull, we have to put down a glowing purple line on the ground, LOL. If you’re being seen running towards Skyham gate and then loading in, sorry, but you are being too obvious by announcing your arrival and it’s your fault there is a pull waiting for you.

Also, nullfield and arcane thievery are some of the few condi clears we have access to. This is no exploit, pls. Boon removal on shatter is part of the regular shatter build!

If you’re having mesmer problems, stop getting rekt. Send another mesmer up to Skyham while you deal with point B. You can also send up a thief, engi, necro or even a hambow up there.

I used to main mesmer in tpvp probably before you even knew it existed (Shatter not skyhammer cheese crap ofc, 2 years ago when you could still hold close portal mid tw and wipe..) and pulling ppl down is not how mesmer is supposed to work…i can assure you…and for sure i can shatter/nullfield/thievery someone and then temp curtain him down…even a monkey with no hands can do that…like i won’t play bunker guard with 3 stability and hammer or thief with scorpion wire (Even if i can play all those classes) just because i still have some self respect…ladders are broken anyway (I found myself top 10 time ago with this account for no apparent reason for example) and i rather loose than winning playing stuff more suited for mentally disabled players..

Funny thing is that all those easy mode mesmers on skyhammer just reroll on any other map because outside pulling ppl down they usually can’t do kitten, many of them also running pu and stuff…most ppl on skyhammer can only magnet, scorpion wire, temporal curtain, fear (and so on) ppl down to their death while on other maps thay just get outplayed all day…and that’s just…sad…

I’m ok with giving nabs a chance with easy mechanics but this map is way too much…

Also, read what Harbinger just wrote. You can still win against people that focus too much on CC-ing people off the map.

Also, mesmer can work many different ways, not just how you think it should work. ^~^v For solo Q, I almost always have GS/Sword+Focus anyways. It helps against the 3 thieves I always seem to get matched up against. _

oops, looks like this map, which is a terrible interpretation of conquest, is still in the conquest queue… apparently, the team that recognized this and made sure it didn’t show up in team queue, forgot to provide the same service to solo queue.

I don’t understand why they removed the Capricorn, but they won’t remove Skyhammer. Was stopping one profession’s underwater op abilities (ranger) more important than encouraging everyone to become pull/push/fear bots? I haven’t played spvp in a while because I got so sick of skyhammer. Remove it from soloq, and bring back the Capricorn, but in a dry dock setting if you really hate water. The map was cool. Skyhammer could be cool, if it wasn’t floating in the air between mesas. Get rid of breaking glass to insta death, and punting off the side to insta death, make it so you just drop to a lower level and have to run back up, even that would be a change for the better.

This would literally fix this map. Also make it so you can dodge the skyhammer…. team with most thieves/engies is usually winning.

As a person who’s suffered skyhammer more than most, I can say with a straight face that I have NEVER seen a SINGLE person actually like skyhammer in the solo queue rotation.

I’d miss it if they removed it. I’ve actually come to enjoy it. And I usually play a mesmer with no knock-back or pull (call me silly, but I don’t usually weapon swap or respec for a SQ fight.)

That said, I did hate it for a good, long while.

If it was a 5v5, they were just bad. Come on, you can fall for the mesmer stealth pull once or twice, but you’re doing something wrong if you get point blanked shot to death. And with their compo they should have kept the hammer all match long. Also, if they didn’t use any break stun/stab, they deserved to be pulled.

Thing is, a ton of people are copying builds like Zoose ele, Ostrich Eggs engy, Hman warrior, Caed thief…. Thing is those guys don’t have a build up on youtube that’s skyhammer build.

Those copycats don’t know how to create there own build to play on skyhammer.
Theres no pvp build option where you can switch builds (promised to us a year ago in sotg when grouch was conducting it, now grouch is in anet, I still don’t see any changes).
However, to play the other side of this story, 2 mins is pretty rough to quickly change builds to knockback if you aren’t very experienced with making builds and what your traits are and such. (So we really do need a build template saver, which was promised a long time ago, not by the people, but by a developer mentioning it in one of the sotg).

So why exactly is this very bugged map is still in solo queue rotation? I can’t use shadow step nor infirtrator signet nor steal on that map. It keeps bugging me out on stairs, glass panels casuing unnecesary death not to mention getting stuck in panel borders etc.

Mesmer with focus, arcane thievery and nullfield is probably the most broken kitten you can get on skyhammer there’s basically nothing you can do if he’s decent enough…rangers have knockback from longbow and fear on wolf btw..

Love the map.

Just play a mesmer with Sw/F+GS and double stealth utilities and you can 2v1 the whole match without any problems. One of them is always going to die to your pull/push, sometimes both if you use stealth properly. Never lost a match on this map so far…

Seriously though, even though I have a blast on this map I think it’s somewhat unfair. Completely removing the canon/holes in the ground would make the map boring but at least reduce the impact both have.

I get this weird sadistic feeling of joy every time I pull someone to their death with scorpion wire. Get the same feeling when I steal from a Necromancer in hammer room and fear 4 people off the platform.

Yes, it forces you to watch your position, but killing multiple people with 1 button and call it competitive (even worse, ranked) is just wrong…

the map is crap. i dont want to change my build every time the map changes, especially since i do not know the map in advance in arenas. if you could push people off the map on every map than you would know that you have to run a bunch of stabilities, stun breakers and boon removals on every map and could prepare for that. and these jump pads interrupting my channeling than not wanting to go off when i need them to, i mean what is wrong with stairs? let me have stairs to clip up things, i dont need unreal tournament style jump pads.

I think it will probably have more effect than we think. Especially the dodgeable hammer and not breaking glass while stealth. No more getting surprised pulled into a hole from stealth while you are busy defending point against someone else. All these changes will reduce the effectiveness of the Skyhammer cheese builds by giving everyone more time to react. Mesmers/Engis will still have the advantage in the hammer room but at least now we can avoid some of the hammers attacks. You are still at a disadvantage fighting in the hammer AoE since you are wasting precious evades to avoid it the team that controls the hammer still has the upper hand.

It might actually work.

Yeah it’s more in line with Kyhlo now, the hammer still stronger, but at least not as much an’ i win’ button anymore. The most important thing is there is now more reactive play, more emphasis on actual fights rather than one shot kills.

As much as I hated skyhammer I will admit I absolutely loved the hammer countering the dodges infinity frames. Like doing a somersault mid air into a big attack would make the game more skillful when the purpose of dodging should be moving quickly out of harms way.

You can commit suicide on any map. Just run directly into the enemy team and don’t fight back.

Jumping off the edge is just another way to do it. One that doesn’t give the enemy team points, if I’m not mistaken.

Or they can just dance a jig at spawn and not do anything. For the 4v5s,I don’t blame them, you could almost say that the ones fighting back delaying the end of the match to be the ones griefing. What is the point of trying when you know it is a lost cause? You don’t get rewarded for trying. Just give them everything and end it quick so everyone can go play a real match.

These changes don’t matter. The map still promotes cheese builds, and a single kitten up will still cause people to 1 shot you.

It’s not fun to play this map nor against the builds it promotes, regardless if they kill you or not.

Starting in the 1960s, the government provided processed cheese to those on welfare. The orange block was a combination of a variety of cheeses and emulsifiers that didn’t taste (or smell) all that great. Since then, Midwesterners use the expression when they want to say that something is a terrible idea.

I heard about Skyhammer changes and I was excited, then I actually found out what the changes were and I’m disappointed again. Anet just doesn’t understand.

First you made it so Skyhammer is now dodgeable (not going to complain), but that wasn’t the problem to begin with. It gives you a visual and audio cue with more then enough time to get out of the area. The problem are the glass panels, which just need to be removed, sure you’re increasing the time for them to break, but this doesn’t solve the problem, it’s just a bad bandage fix.

Yeah. Until the glass panels are removed, the map will always be unplayable.

I don’t think they need to be removed, however I think it would have been best if they put a second level on the side points below where the plates are. It makes it punishing to fall through, but it doesn’t outright kill you. You might get a decap, but you’re still going to have to deal with the threat through fighting.

I think one of the biggest problems with the map is the confined space around the side nodes. It is way too easy to jump someone through teleports on that map – there is very little you can do to position yourself so that you don’t get jumped easily. Every other map there are ways to position yourself around the point so that you can prevent, as much as possible, easy +1’s. Skyhammer is the only map where this really isn’t the case. Unfortunately, I don’t think this will ever change as it would require a serious change.
