I have yet to play Skyhammer since the patch.

Not sure that is true, have seen on more than one occasion SH getting more than 5 votes, the only map i have not seen get at least 5 is Spirit Watch

I’ve gotten a couple of skyhammer matches, now spirit watch I don’t see people vote that map that often, although I do find it fun. I never vote for temple foe fire or legacy, boring kitten maps.

I have seen rather many people vote for it. Doesn’t really prove anything. But it will indeed be a rather good way to show how many people actually vote for it, in the long run.

Another fun thing is that people seem to rage like mad about how bad Courtyard is here on the forums, and yet every single time it has been possible to vote for it more than half of the players in-game have actually done so.

60-70 games. I’ve only played 2 skyhams.

Glad that not so many people are voting for it. Although I got it a few times when the minority voted for it lolz.

I vote for it each time it pops, hopefully one day RNGesus will agree with me!

Net never said anything about a majority. There’s a minority who likes it, and I agree with ANet in that it should not balance PvP around what only the majority likes. Every time I’m in que and Skyhammer is an option, at least 1 person votes for it. That’s 10%. That’s a lot, despite not being the majority.

except the joke is they did say that in some interview that most players liked skyhammer

I once played a skyhammer that had 1 vote, and 9 for battle of khylo.
To say the least, I was laughing too hard to be upset. oh and the win was nice too.

I allways vote for skyhammer. Because fear.

i envy you. after a long time of playing exclusively teamq to avoid those maps i encounter them quite frequently recently. either some troll votes for it and since (afaik; also really doesn’t feel like it) the votes are not weighted it get’s a 33%-50% chance of popping or you even encounter a premade semi-built for exactly those maps (saw a guild run 3 engi – warrior – thief in order to farm yard in first place, skyham in second and watch in third; i also met some dudes that farm yard with nearly 100% winrate because they’re built for it; it seems to pop often enough for it to be worth it). after making a big circle around soloq in order to not have to play those maps i’m kinda kittened off i have to put up with it now.
i heard/read somewhere that yard, ham and watch will be removed from ranked rotation on dec 16th, is that right? i might as well stop playing pvp until then at all.

I sure hope you will not be one of those that complain when stuff you dislike doesn’t get changed then, seeing as you quite clearly helps with the metric that shows that people want to play it.

Anets fault if they trust metrics instead of making player surveys.

I have only played Skyhammer once so far and I have never seen more than 5 votes for it, usually scores 1-2 at most when it comes up. The only time it gets 5 is when you have a pre-made team who are set up for it and they all vote for it.

Skyhammer metrics got messed up by a few players farming it some time ago for easy rank/glory gain, that’s probably why Anet thought it was popular because a some teams/players were exploiting it.

The map is broken, that is why so less people vote for it. People voting for it just want to abuse their noob builds, scorpion wire thiefs in front. Maps should try to increase the amount of different buids that might work, not decrease.

ANet lied. Point is that the people who like Skyhammer is around 10% of the player base, maybe, and therefor is not a minority that ANet can simply ignore. Don’t get too caught up on the details, try looking at the picture that matters.

Metrics and survey both have important roles. Hopefully trolls like you are a minority of the playerbase.

Shouldn’t happen… IMO if 80% of the votes are for 1 map, it should realistically ALWAYS be that map. Because odds are 4/5 players from each team voted for that one map and the other 2 are newbies, or trolling, AND EVEN IF THEY ARE NOT and legitimately like or want that map! The entire game shouldn’t have to suffer for the last 2 players 10-20% vote, to appease the one or two builds voting for a map they have a clear (and arguably unfair) advantage on.

The worst case scenario for the team getting the short end of the stick on a 80% vote would mean 3 players from the team still voted for the popular map. So I really believe 8/10 votes is the proper cut off point for a guaranteed map roll.

90% chance to play at map A and 10% at Skyhammer. All is good

No skyhammer for me since the patch, closest vote in favor were 3 for skyhammer at the most, crossed fingers and lucky it didn’t went through. There is always one person who votes for skyhammer, which I don’t mind, I guess it doesn’t hurt to play that map once a month and keep the variety going.

but i still prefer new system over old 5 skyhammer in a row that you could do literary nothing about

Yesterday the opposite team made 5 votes for Skyhammer and we got it. They had 2 engies, 2 necros and a mesmer. They lost 500-75. I was wondering why you’d vote for a specific map if you don’t know how to play on it.

30+ games here, never saw more than 1 guy voting for skyhammer.

I’m sure more than 10% want a lot of things that would genuinely help the game. Too bad those minorities are never listened to.

well if u play the same kitten arena for 2 years now of course its gonna get boring..im bored too…Spirit watch is the most fun for Mesmer portalling..Skyhammer just sucks to me personally cuz 80% of deaths there are falling deaths..and 10% are people laughing at the falling deaths…

i thinkanet should have a data of total votes for ALL arenas and the low est map should be removed or adjusted or worked on…at least this way they will know which map sucks and no longer works…..let people vote and let anet collect the data

omg i had that soo many times is it a bug? I had once too skyhammer got 1-2 votes and roulette spinned and skyhammer won…i closed the game…sorry team..this happens with other maps..people vote and even tho one map has most voted the roulette picks another one…like whats the point of voting then if the system pick its own?

Its frustrating when there is one vote for skyhammer and it gets selected, but look on the bright side- the more votes a map gets the more chance there is that it will be selected, at the same time there is still a chance for the minority vote to win. That is a huge, huge improvement over what we had before and it is also quite fair.

I have had far less skyhammer matches with the new system than in the past, and I also have some insight into which map is likely to be picked. That makes me feel much better about playing- I actually pretty much stopped playing solo queue because of skyhammer- and even if a map pops that I don’t like (skyhammer), I don’t really feel that bad about playing it any more.

To answer your last question, I think the point of the roulette wheel is to give everyone a chance to get what they want even if they aren’t a majority, and that is a nice touch imo.
