A skilled player can use a handicapped build or a strong build. Obviously that has nothing to do with the ‘skill’ of the player.

The fact is that spirit ranger doesn’t take skill, as much as you’d like to believe it does.
You can be highly effective with a spirits build from day one if you’ve spent any time at all playing PvP.

i think that video was made before ele’s were buffed a little. you can’t do that to an ele anymore. i see them getting a little tougher nowadays. btw, the ranger on that video pushed the same # of keys to defeat the ele: lb#4 lb#2 utility (storm active) and f2 with the pet. it just happened that the ele facetanked the storm spirit’s active twice, first was when the ranger activated it and second was when it got killed while the ele was within the range of its damage.

Ok let’s do this way..just post a video where a spirit ranger actually uses his skills like any mesmer\ele\engi\(Not s\d) thief…you just have an example there with ostrich, just find a spirit ranger playing his class like that (And no number of skills used is irrelevant if you just randomly spam them)…i brought you a video, now it’s your turn to show us how much skill is needed to play spirit, or do you really think that oneshotting someone with an auto-activating trait requires more skill than a monkey peeling a banana? When i kill someone good after an intense fight with mesmer it usually ends up with gg, nice play and so on (Same if i get killed by someone playing skillfully) but when i went for a couple of runs with spirit ranger i still killed ppl (With no effort and not even knowing wtf i was doing, not even skill’s effects..just spamming and that’s it) but i felt dumb playing something so facepalm op and for sure noone whispered me “nice fight” cause i was winning versus way way more skilled ppl (Compared to me on freakin ranger) just because of my build…

After some runs i obviously deleted spirit ranger..i’d rather lose playing my class good than winning just mashing my keyboard while facerolling pretty much everything around just beacuse of the build i’m running…as i said before spirit ranger doesn’t even have a skill floor\ceiling..you’re just another spirit ranger, playing it is so easy then there’s no way to play it bad..

all professions can trait to full bunker, glass cannon or balanced. if you chose to use a glass cannon build, be prepared to be easily killed anytime during a match. i think this kind of logic works for all professions not just rangers.

btw, i’m not that techy-savvy to make gw2 videos.

I certainly hope they nerf this nonsense to the ground. Trivial, passive spam builds like this should not be competitive. At least not if you don’t want your game to be a joke.

Never got downed by a spirit ranger once with bunker guardian…you can keep up for more than one minute if you’re just decent…i don’t even want to know how bad are those bunkers you met, there are few specs that can solo a guardian in a reasonable amount of time..and no, spirit ranger is not one of those, you can’t even decap a decent bunker with that..thanks god…you can do already too much with that braindead spec..

try a spirit ranger wearing soldier amulet instead of those who wear carrion or settler. a spirit ranger with a soldier amulet has 3.1 k attack, 3 k armor and 24.5 k hp. do you even know that?

Spirit rangers can kill bunker guardians eventually, it just takes a very long time or a bad bunker guardian. This is done mainly by abusing weaponswap sigils, poison/burning and storm spirit though. I’d also say that using a/d s/t is much better for offensive power however.

Just give it a try..you can drop save yourselves for it and you get a really nice aoe cond removal + less condition duration on a reasonable cd (If traited) …and save yourselves is just a “Kill Me” neon sign for every necro running corrupt boon around atm >.<

1st. Casual doesn’t mean builds carrying bad players.
2nd. Most players hate the current state of the game and the things that are defining the meta. One of those things is… spirit ranger.
3rd. Symbolic has already explained what is wrong with spirit rangers and why it’s such a low skill cap spec. If after reading that you still don’t understand… Idk, keep enjoying this broken game and playing a 0 challenge spec.

Because the majority of people can play it and do just as well or better than on other specs that they have played hundreds of games with already.

That guy (jcbroe) basically explained why ranger is the nub prof, and explained that it is OVERWHELMINGLY effective when compared to other builds. Even at high end PvP.

I had a match with Battosai in solo que on my mesmer, it was RIDICOLOUSLY hard for me to fight against him: one single mistake, a single utility on CD and I was toast.

Meanwhile he was just auto-attacking and using weapons- in built – evades and spamming spirits when i was near ( along with good pet swapping, which is basically all a player needs to do, along with dogs CCs and immobilizes).

It’s not that mesmers cannot beat spirit rangers ( they effectively can) but they need to play 400% better than them and meanwhile the ranger has to do very simplistic moves.

We have nothing against strong builds for beginners, but those builds should NEVER be so effective in high end PvP, because they dumb down the whole game ( which is Gw2 main balance problem).

If you want to grow up as a player, stop running this mindless build.

Also, it’s funny that you call me arrogant when you admit to not actually playing tournaments (in other words, you don’t structured pvp). Why do you consider yourself qualified to comment on the efficacy of builds for tournament play if you don’t even participate?

In addition, I understand you need people like jcbroe to sugarcoat the truth so you can preserve your fragile dueling ego, but most people aren’t going to care about that when responding to your post.

Whys this still going on? The question has been asked and answered and I don’t think this topic is going anywhere productive.

We already know why people get mad at rangers it’s passive play and passive damage while having to much survivability via evade spam and regen.

It’s A-nets job to do something about this. But while this is the only viable option I can see why they won’t do much about it.

People who play easy mode spam will suffer in the long run as PvP changes into a more balanced state. (Presuming it doesn’t die first.)

Even Symbolic comes on here (who is a skilled player and probably was one of the best, if not the best rangers) and tells you straight up that ranger is easy to play and you ignore him and carry on willfully ignoring any post that actually factually points out why spirit ranger is easy to play.
