Effort? Is this not a game? Am I missing something?

Just play the parts of the game that are fun to you, if you like nothing the game offers, then quit.
You do not need to force yourself to do anything you do not want to do. And if you feel you have do to anything in the game that is not fun to you, but you just cant stop doing it, then you should deinstall the game and visit a doctor asap.

Paricipate in the kitten storm! There are enough threads here on the foum, where you can tell the devs that you dislike the idea of rank remove and are going to leave spvp if they remove your rank. It at least SEEMS like the devs would understand that removing the ranks pbly is not a good idea.

Ranks won’t be removed anytime soon, just continue to get to 50 and secure your bear!

It would be nice to have a solid date, if and when they are going to remove them. Last thing I want is to get to 59 then they remove them the next week.

They aren’t changing that anytime soon. Besides, once they do, there will be different more meaningful things to work towards. (Hopefully -_-). They already said that they are going to start streaming monthly to give players a heads up about what is soon to come

How about playing whatever you feel like instead of forcing you to do something for some meaningless random number stored in a server somewhere?

I thought people would go grind their titles now, as they will be no longer obtainable in future. These ranks will be very valuable in next years.

I feel upset about this, I liked pvp and really enjoyed work my way up the ranks. I knew r80 was the highest and that is was a dragon finisher/emote.

Today in a pvp match I get the news that ranks and emotes are getting taken out. I’m hoping you guy’s/girl’s whom made this game will rethink about taken the ranks out.

As for emotes, please leave them in as it is the only way for a pvp’er to show off to a pve’er. If you do take out ranks add in a way the still get the emotes via titles or something.

I hate to tell you this, but while what you said is true and in an ideal world that is how it should be, a lot of MMORPG players don’t understand the concept.

If you play pvp to rank up you are doing it wrong.

Please pray tell how you are supposed to sPvP. If you say play to have “fun” you ever think some people find gaining ranks fun? Kinda like how some people find champ zerging fun. As for the OP I’m in the same boat idk if I should keep playing towards my goal or not because the ranks/finishers is what really got me into sPvP in the first place.

From what I understand, Finisher will remain but ranks will not. No source on this as I can’t find the forum post unfortunately… will check to see.

Ah yes, it’s on the Guild Wars website: “Once ladders are implemented, ranks will be retired. To honor the effort that players have put into the rank system, existing players will be able to keep all unlocked rank finishers and will earn a special title based on your rank to show that you were there from the start. Variants of existing rank finishers will move to the ladder system and will be used to show your current standings on the ladder from season to season. The original finishers will not be earnable again.”

So to go full circle and back to the OP, yes it probably still is worth trying to get to R50 (assuming you deem the finisher a worthy note of someones rank)
