Suggestion: Dueling cages in pvp lobby
I’ve wanted casual duels in this game since 2012
the code for it is even there already, since guild halls have it
+1 as outputting damage to a target that doesn’t fight back or a target that has the same rotation 1000 times can’t prepare you for much.
And hot joining for 1 v 1’s doesn’t help much since griefing happens more often than not.
Thanks for the support, I had this idea a while ago and figured it was something people would be interested in. I will try to upkeep the thread and hopefully a dev or two will get wind of it and comment.
Yes, please. Yes, please. Yes, please.
Oh to make another note about some details. Suggestions I have are when the duel is over, kicking the loser out and not allowing them to rejoin for 2 minutes, and if the fight takes longer than 3 minutes kicking both players out and not letting them rejoin for two minutes. This would be to ensure that players aren’t left waiting too long to get into a duel.
Also, perhaps have half the cages have a few pillars inside for LOS and the other half bare.
Yes please! There’s a full zone with water that is unusable because there’s no more water map
I also noticed it has been recently re-opened, couldn’t you transformed this in arena-like zone fractured in multiple area so that people can duel each other while waiting for queue?
Because, seriously, we deserve something to wait that long in a boring map like that.
Of course, there’s something to do in the lobby instead of joining a game. Besides, why did they force people to be at Heart of the Mists to queue up?
Better suggestion: Let us play the kitten game while waiting for a queue. Like we already could for 1,5 years after launch.
Anet plz do this.
But please don’t remove the water area again, I like my afk spot.

Dumb idea, just put in dueling.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
Best idea in awhile, anet please do this

A space for 1v1’s are long overdue.

Great idea; seems fairly simple to implement and would make a lot of people happy.
NSP!
Great idea.
Surprising this wasn’t done from start! Golems can only keep you occupied for so long…
Anet, please, thanks <3
will never happen, because it’s anet, but bumping anyway
+1
They also should implement a sPvP version of the highly customizable Guild Arena!
6k+ PvP games
They should simply allow you to stay on the map you currently play on (including private arenas without pointprogression so that the map can’t change). that would fix their “loadingscreen problems”
Thanks for all the comments and support guys Looks like mostly positive responses. I will keep this going!
Anetpls. How else am I going to test my Killshot warrior?
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
I have an idea. On top of adding a space for 1v1’s, they should also have a computer generated 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, latter. The current set-up has done a really great job building a sense of community within Guild Wars 2—since a lot of the stuff has been player organized. However, something similar to the latters set-up for tPvp and WvW and even PvE would be really nice. Also, a king of the hill gladiator type style dueling cage mode would be awesome.
Peace.
Dueling anyone?
(edited by dontlook.1823)
Yes please! I want to practice dueling scrappers and others on my thief and revenant and practice offbeat builds like Ventari against actual players. The NPC practice bots are okay (if you’re just bursting them down pressing random buttons you’re doing it wrong, you should watch their tells so you can practice timing dodges and interrupts) but have a vastly different dynamic from playing against real players.
Anything that would help to kill boredom in HotM qs is welcome.
[Teef] guild :>
Two men enter! One man leaves!
:D Exactly, Dahkeus. Good post!
I support this idea. The mobs in training area worths for nothing. A 1×1 area is a fast way to practice new builds, classes, check the damage outupt, etc.
Using a Phoenix Down…
The reason for having us queue in hotm was that people would be less distracted / more likely to answer the call for a match.
Dueling cages would break that.
In addition, anet will never do it because that would reduce the value of guild halls and thus devalue grinding in HoT.
