Hello all,
I’ve been there:
https://competitive.guildwars2.com/en/news/watch-the-guild-wars-2-world-championship-qualifier
Was not able to find anything about comp.
I’ve seend bracket, but can’t click on team to get roster/comp info.
I’ve been to twitch, I can’t find it… perhaps I am “too noob” to know where to find archives matchup… but..
Nobody is writing summary of that even yet.
Anyone can help me find more informations about it? At least, a link on the laggy bad rez twitch video would be a start.
Thank you,
The qualifiers for EU ran these compositions:
Rank 55:
Engi-necro-rev-ranger-mesmer
Vermillion:
Engi-necro-rev-ranger-mesmer
TCG:
Ele-ranger-mesmer-warr-rev
The qualifiers from NA ran these compositions:
Astral Authority:
Engi-necro-rev-ranger-guard
Never Lucky:
Engi-ranger-Rev-guard-thief
Team PZ:
Engi-necro-rev-mesmer-ranger
These are just from memory so I may have one or two classes wrong, but I highly doubt it. I think the most notable things are ranger being present in every team, warr dropping out of the meta on all but one team and 2/3 EU teams taking a Mesmer whereas 2/3 NA teams are taking a guard. Of course this all could change for the world championship itself.

Thank you guyz, really appreciated.
@suffish or others:
Did you see major differences in the season 3 meta build versus what people were running?
Since tempest seems not there anymore, what class did defensive supportive rotations more than the other?

On the teams that did run an ele, it was still the class giving the most support and rotating into fights their team was losing to heal their team back up.
For those not running an ele, Druid was used as the main heal support class but engi was the one that was always going for revives and getting their team back up when downed. This was especially important when with a necro. From what I have seen, engi+necro will be rotating together and taking 2v2s a lot.
@suffish
To resume my understanding from your post:
Druid rotate on team fights to heals, while engi do skirmishes with necro.
In case we have a 3+ fights, Druids should be there for heals and Scrapper for Rez.

I thought Rank 55 was running a DH in the game against TCG? I’m actually quite positive. I think Texbi was running one…
It is simple to figure out why everyone had engie+ranger+rev (except TCG, whose ele was a detriment for reasons below):
Engie and Ranger support just as well as ele, but have superior hard mitigation, much more damage, and much more map mobility. You still need support, and since ele is slow and can’t really bang bodies in large fights, you are better off picking alternatives. For TCG, fights with Denshee were only able to really stalemate, but not win. Denshee played well, but the ele class is just strictly worse than ranger/engie at giving support, and that is all that it can do (the others also can 1v1 pretty well and do really good damage too). The map was slowly lost as superior mobility of the support gave more options to win points, even with Helseth making strong portal plays.
Rev is obviously taken because it still has insane damage and can survive for obscenely long by stringing together hard mitigation skills.
The rest of your DPS options have some variability as there is a decent split of benefits and drawbacks for each class.
I had some time to kill today and decided to watch the EU matches and made a compilation of the builds used.

Nice post.

I had some time to kill today and decided to watch the EU matches and made a compilation of the builds used.

Didn’t yet check all of the builds you posted but you already have a mistake in the first build of Drazeh, he actually used carrion amulet, not mender. He trolled at the start because they know casters will check their builds, which is kinda funny since Jebro wasn’t even boggled by the amulet choice and didn’t go back to check it again later. How can I know he used carrion amulet? Check his full hp after the match starts, it’s 28k something and at the start the hp is 24k something. You can confirm the hp yourself ingame. Also why would anyone run mender with the condi metabuild? I could understand if he had a decent power weapon instead of longbow since mace+shield is decent even with power builds because of the all cc. I believe you picked up the builds from the caster previewing them but you probably will have to double check every odd spec since players can swap around stuff.
Edit: You also have a wrong weapon in the build, I just went back to confirm that he was using longbow because you made me think twice lol.
Edit2: Also Denshee used lighting flash against r55 instead of aftershock like you have in your build.

Be curious on the amulet breakdown? I see lots of carrion.

Ah, I did picked on the amulet, but probably got the old link when was moving text and links around.
I am not saying those are the true real builds, there are probably errors, I didn’t re-checked all yet, only a few because it is tiresome. I was updating Denshee build on top of his old one and Aftershock slipped. In general, the builds are pretty much the same, it is just to have an idea. The ones who used a trait, profession or skill differently on the first round of the matches, fixed to go with the flow later on.
Well azyume.6321, you ROCK TONS. +1 on your post.
Don’t let people that don’t contribute stopping you. Leecher and Lamer are everywhere. Your time is really appreciated. I would enjoy a “professional write up” with comps and build for all PRO event.
But not everybody could be a good journalist/blogger.
I was happy to see that the Scrapper EU builds look the same than what I run after the balanced patch.
Nice work azyume.6321 !!!
Sooooo many thieves, WTF teams would totally stack them if not for rules – stealth spells nerf was totally justified!!! Gotta stop thieves from dominating pvp for 3 seasons straight!

OMG DH so OP according to every other QQ post. it was used a grand total of ONCE. Nerf incoming.
For all QQ about comp, DH and Thief or Stuff….
We just have 4 team here, not all the pro-league team and comp. (16)

It’s the start of a new season. Comp/build could still changes.
Real Esport game give you all those stats from the game anyway.
In gw2, we need to look at twitch and do our own stats manually.
