Thief has too many dodges!
Reducing the amount of endurance gained by SoA to 1 bar or 50% (1 1/2 bar for Daredevil specced, and 1 bar for core) would be sufficient I think.
It is much more prevalent on D/D condi thieves as well
Comparing the current thief to old S/D makes no sense. Every other class sustain got buffed aswell with the introduction of HoT. Pre patch HoT Mesmer/guard didnnt have that many blocks etcc so that’s why they had to buff to the thief aswell
Nah. The only thing that needs tweaking IMO is Staff 3. Evade, immob break AND 3-4k crits? Not to mention hiding the animation with staff 3 and simultaneous jump. Nerf damage by 25-50%. It should be a defensive skill, not offensive.

I agree about the dodges, but I don’t think it should be nerfed.
Because really, how will they survive without it?
Nerf dodges?
I think they need more actually, because 99 percent of the time when i get a thief in my games hes perma down.
defensive is defensive!
offensive is offensive!
gw2 pvp = defensive+offensive all the time!!! come on~ let’s spam!!!!
Definately applicable to the hideous condi thieves. Although they aren’t played often, they are just broken.
To be fair, the moment a thief stops evading they just melt/blow-up.
But as long as they are evading there is little way to pressure them, and it’s to easy for them to escape to regain ini, unlike everything else that realistically runs out of resources and gets screwed, any thief who knows how to manage ini will never truely run out in a bad position, and can always keep pressure with no risk.
It’s fine that they can evade a ton, but there has to be some risk that isn’t negated by “my ini getting low? K bai!… K I’m back, and can keep going!” within a few moments. At the very least, this gives an objective advantage against anything with limited or restrictive cooldowns, and anything that needs to setup burst.

designed to survive pve HoT maps and all aoe spam compesation… that is when u design pve classes for pvp and dont balance pvp.
Actually its the pve that needs to be fixed so pvp gets better. lel

Not played often? O_O….there is a condi thief 3 matches out of 5, they all play the same..rush far/spam dodge/bleeding=profit

1. you obviously don’t play a thief otherwise you wouldn’t post this nonsense
2. so to make thief work player needs to be good, but it is ok that to make other classes work player doesn’t even need to be good…. so the thief should be nerfed? That logic.

I think I have only seen 1 or 2 this season. Maybe they appear more often on American servers or in lower divisions. Probably the last.
I’d be fine with dodging less if..yknow.. I could take a hit
Of course, pressing 3,3,3,3 should not get you damage output AND invul, but I dont think anything else needs to be touched regarding that unless we also get a boost in vitality.

I used to think (build op, pls nerf) like you, but then I took a nerf to the knee.

They are so easy to just ignore though… Taking the condi dodge over the movement dodge removes so much of their mobility. Don’t fight them off point, and they do nothing all game.
No they do not.
The people making this observation do not seem to understand just what the INI system does when it comes to a thiefs defense.
When one is playing any other class there are very defined skills on a given weaponset that act so as to provide defense. Generally these skills are seperate from the skills from which they do damage , albeit not always. In other words when they need a defensive skill they tend to have one available as they would not generally have used one up when it was not needed.
In addition to this they do have their own dodges and a myriad of passive traits. Added to that they generally have a higher hit point pool and armor so as to absorb those hits that get through.
With the INI pool there no such thing as defensive INI and offensive INI. When a thief uses up INI by using a particular weapon skill so as to do damage they eat away at the same pool that will provide defenses from that weapon set. Swapping a weaponset to get at a defensive skill will very often not work because they will lack the ini to use that skill.
An Ele or engineer that swaps attunements for a new kit for defense or new attunement for the same is not restricted by an ini pool from using those new skills.
As such the thief will use more in the way of dodges and or use those duel use skills that provide both a dodge and inflict damage for the same INI. Not only is this a reason a thief needs to dodge more, it also a reason the AA was boosted for damage.

I don’t say they are good or useful or anything. They basically can only 1v1 and have less mobility than regular thief. But when you 1v1 them it becomes a framerate battle rather than a normal battle. That’s the broken thing, not overpoweredness or anything like that.
This is going to be such a cliche response but it’s especially true in OP’s case. You took a break from gw2 for two years. You just got back a few days ago. This is truly a l2p issue. Learn the frames and re learn the game before jumping to dumb conclusions because the game is very different from how it was in 2014. /facepalm.
I think dagger 3 needs weakness and vulnerability. And maybe give thief 1 more dodge bar
All the dodge!
