Things you saw today in unranked.
One time I was 1v1ing a reaper on my d/p thief and I quickly dodged away when he/she went into reaper shroud, eventually killing him/her. The individual quickly spammed in map chat that I was being too much of a tryhard and that thief required no skill at all.
After the match ended, he/she whispered me and said that I should uninstall my game for being a tryhard. I told him/her that I was kind of part of the esports scene somewhat, and that running away from dangerous things such as reaper shroud was kind of just ingrained in my head.
He/she then got really mad and started calling me names and such, eventually stating that I had a responsibility as an “esports player” to intentionally die in 1v1s in ques to boost the self-esteem and confidence of new players, because the game was dying.
And then he/she started calling me tryhard in map chat and whispers repeatedly until eventually logging off.

my experience is not dreadful like everyone in this QQ forums. played unranked earlier for daily my team comp consist of 2 DD, chrono, druid and me reaper. enemy team consist of druid, rev, DH, ele, reaper. not only our comp is not optimal to win, 2 of the enemy are ESL players (note: they not using main class) anyways our 2 DD and chrono went and rush far while me and druid went mid. (yes, made me wanna afk when none went to our home) seeing only 2 of us at mid, the rev at mid went to help his team at their home.
TL;DR we won far and team went back to mid and we wipe them. we ended with 3 cap and they kinda never recover from that. score was like 500- 300.

Im playing full trap ranger with entangle and in multiple matches across many fights i see this.
I spread the 3 traps across the point. They run from the one spot only to hit another, im using shortbow off point letting the pet fight it on the point. I then run in a circle dropping all the traps again and watching them do it again.
I have no condi clear other then F5 and no stability, no stun breakers and im winning alot of 1 vs 2.
When ranked first ended i was still playing rifle warrior, this ele tried to 1 vs 1 me and he used swirling winds and i used signet of might to hit him with a old school kill shot. He asked how i got threw his swirling winds and i told him the signet. He tried to 1 vs 1 me again and i did it again.
We won and we get into map chat and he starts whispering me and bashing me in map chat about me (using my characters name) is a trash warrior and i was the reason the game was dying with brain dead stupid builds. I actually enjoyed this though, I and some guild mates had a good laugh over this.
First match: 3 D/C’s before game starts, 2v5, still managed to finish 230ish to 500.
Second match: 9/10 players stood just outside Keep’s capzone on Niflel spamming “Br? Br? Alguen br?” the entire match. Won 500-0 because I 3-capped and stood there in amazement. None of them were from the same guild. I’m 100% sure I got on the lucky end of a troll team.
Third match: 5v5 revenants. Actually pretty fun fight, though I was the only run running current meta (shield herald), the others were all sword/axe assassin stance. Surprising how lethal 2 of those can be, even if they’re super squishy. Won 440-505.
Fourth match: Reaper/Reaper/Reaper/Scrapper/Scrapper vs. DH/DH/afk druid/pve chrono/me (shield herald). We got destroyed, like 90-500, and the druid wouldn’t have made much difference.
Fifth match: Premade 5-scrapper team named “GL we don’t die” vs. 4 macewarr premade and me. Turns out with enough condi scrappers do go down :P. Still lost, but due to warrs not knowing rotation.
Sixth match: Good, balanced teams on both sides, decent to good players, fair loss at 430ish to 500.
Takeaway: When you queue at 9am CST you get weird team comps. And most of them are intentional.
Class stacking was out in force tonight. Had one match vs 3 warriors, necro, and Condi Mesmer. Another where I had 3 eles on my team. Both were painfully slow.
Fortunately, not a single thing, lol.
As much as yall cry and complain about these things, yall absolutely love them, admit it. These are the things that seem to keep whats left of the GW2’s sPvP community going. It’s no wonder why ANet doesn’t care much. Worst sPvP community in gaming, to include LoL, now that’s a title that should be loath and not adored.
Atleast LoL is competitive with the toxicity that community has towards each other, which by the way less then the toxicity that is now in GW2’s sPvP.
I don’t even know why even know why I care in the slightest for such trash. I mean I don’t even play sPvP in GW2 anymore. When I do go into the lobby only super toxic players seem to be chatting in map or say chat. The games are just crap feast MM rolling a D20 or what not to see if you win or lose your match, with your MMR as a multiplier. Watched sPvP game mode lobby shrink from about 3 to 5 full lobbies less then 12 months ago, now down to 1 maybe a 2nd one that is not full, during NA prime time.
I just wonder where most of the players of the GW2 community is going to go, after ANet pulls the plug. I mean nearly any other similar game, would absolutely punish all of the bad behaviors that is encouraged in GW2’s sPvP, to exclude chat trolling and competitive talking/boasting, long as it’s not against race or sex.
But at least I admit it!

Huh?
I escorted a ranger at home, an enemy druid rushed, I fought him offpoint while our ranger full capped home, i left for mid with the druid having popped signet of stone and celestial avatar and is currently at 20%.
by the time i get to mid (not even 10 secs), our home node was decapped, followed by our ranger downed then full dead in the next 10 secs. He then full caps raged in chat about me leaving him 1v2 (I think he meant the druid’s pet).
#JustUnrankedThings
Literally just happened…
Before match…guy stated he was going “left”…everybody was like “huh?”
Then…after first team fight…another guy logs off and comes back as a thief…giving us 3 thieves.
Final score was 500-22…awesome matchmaking…two of us were legend and had to play with these guys.
How is it possible for obviously new people to be matched with legend/high mmr players??? It just makes it miserable for both parties.
Forest – [blah blah] tranquility channel, [blah blah blah]

Oops, my bad. I meant temple.
Had a game today where we had a 3 thief, 2 guard team vs a 3 warrior, 2 thief team.
We won, but boy can you tell what the daily win bonus is for today. XD

Uninstall the game Aeroxe.
In my two unranked games today (on Thief, then Warrior), I learned the following are apparently true (!?!?):
1. D/P Thief beats Mace/Shield+LB Wanderers Condi Warrior when fighting on point.
2. Mace/Shield+LB Wanderers Condi Warrior beats Staff Thief + Corruptionmancer + Trapper Guardian when fighting on point. In this same game, our Revenant announced that they were going to go for the enemy beast as soon as it spawned (but they seem to have gotten confused and went for our beast instead, as soon as it spawned).
The conclusion for #2, given #1, is that the Staff Thief should have been D/P, and the 3 side would easily win that 3vs1 instead of losing it. Right?
Either those must be true, or I’m getting matched against tremendously bad players, with teammates that are bad enough that the games are a difficult carry. RIP the dream of getting games where players on the opposing team are competent, and players on my team are also competent.

Sorry to burst your bubble but all of the competent solo players have stop playing GW2’s sPvP. All that are left are the sadists premades that enjoy burning ants with magnifying glass or players that have very little cares about getting good, who are used as fodder for the sadists enjoyment.

I must say that playing atm pvp its too much for my nervs, 0 awereness atm on pvp , 0 clue.
In the last 10 days i played maybe 10 games or something.
Its impossible to enjoy pvp, and if u try to help by telling them something u get offended, same if u losing 400-50 and u go afk because u just had enough ,then u are the reason they lost.
I dont think anet can put 10 players in the same game with equal skill play.
guys cant you see the problem which is inherent the the soul of MMR
if the design is to be on 50% win rate no one can climb the ladder. your mmr should be average
the rank system just give the ppl the opportunity to see that
few ppl get higher results while other lower result
if the top skill players should win in 90% win rate it means some other losses in 90% loss rate or the system should give them the opportunity to play with much more range of players the the losses will spread between the community
but all in all the average will be 50% so if you listen in math lessons most thing is like normal distribution so less than 5%-10% are in the top and lower and most are in average range
the problem with anet its seems to put you there while you think you should be in other tier….
also in unranked when i see ppl with starter armor and weapon its mean bye bye to win and rotation game lol so i just play for fun

The game is ment to get 10 players of similar mmr and put them together on a 5v5, so … pliz explain me how is that dying in 3 secs or dying to npcs or double capping its having players of equal mmr?
So when a team wins 500 – 30 means equal mmr games ?
I had players saying sorry even before game starts becausr they had only 10 pvp games on them or they are just doing the dailys etc etc…
Its obvious that in theory this MM sounds ok and fairish..
But in practise it doesnt, and the worse is that u get these 2 or 3 very very bad players for the next 4 games or so.
There is a huge skill gap i mean really huge between players in the same game, when i win far 1v2 and trust me i do win way to often 1vs 2 and yet my team loses mid and close, im not lying here or saying im a super player , what im saying is that anet should improve this MM, this is the real problem here.
U can come and say that every one thinks hes a pro and think they should win all the time and such….. but trust me this MM problem is very real, and even tho im not a top player i can see a huge gap in skill between the players, and u want to know what… 99 percent of players that post in here are all average or below average players, when i talk ingame with top players asking them what they think of such treads and such , they reply they not even check the forum.
I wouldnt mind to have a bit longer ques , but have better games.
And yes i do have average 8 minutes or so when the game tells me there is 2-3 minutes que average.

I love starter armor… casuals constantly under-estimate people in starter armor…. its so hilarious.
Yesterday in PvP I saw an LB Ranger on the enemy team. We won.
Today in PvP I saw a LB Ranger on my team. We lost.
Druid on my team vs a warrior from the other team on mid. The druid downed the warrior, then promptly left the point to go somewhere else.
The downed warrior then got a full cap on mid and almost fully rezzed before I got there.

I am sad that your MMR is going downhill.
My soloq brothers are mostly posting on this thread right now. They seems good enough for me.
I rarely see bad matches in 1 night. But I have some.
I can related those bad matches to 1 or 2 Troll that are already block and reported.
sPvP is a niche game and will get many TOP and Mid-tier Hardcore players going on and off. This is the nature of the beast.
Overwatch will get old in a couple of week, I don’t despair about it.
We just need more people like me, to play with our NEXT gen good SPVP players.
Let’s share our knowledge to the Worthy Challenger that will compete in the ESL of tomorrow. (like I did for 4 years)

And yes i do have average 8 minutes or so when the game tells me there is 2-3 minutes que average.*==> Higher MMR players are put with lower MMR to make an average MMR so it’s easy to find an average team around. Learn to play around that:
1- Duo/trio with some friends.
2- Rotate where your weakest link is, most likely enemy team will find it and abuse how weak he is. So be the super guy that make him super GOOD even if he is bad.
3- We can’t always win. <==*

Today in Unranked, I saw two players who decided to rush lord at 13:30 on the timer, and also had a fondness for buddy-capping far and standing there while doing nothing.
Why is matchmaking so poor? Being matched with players who are clueless to the most basic aspects of the game is unacceptable.

Sounds about %90 of the current GW2 sPvP players. Lol. I sorry but when I hear competition and GW2’s SpvP in the same sentence I can’t help but to laugh, because it’s obvious these people who think there is any sense of competitiveness in GW2’s sPvP are either new to Multiplayer Gaming, or have never actually played a single competitive game in their life, so they think GW2’s sPvP is competitive.
Hell the PvE leaderboards on some of the other MMOs I’ve played are far more competitive then GW2’s sPvP. Sad to say but true. But I guess different strokes for different fokes, right. I just love it when legendary players try to solo or take me on 2v1 just because I’m emerald and lose, then tell me they are reporting me for hacking.
But at least I admit it!

My team just (3 vs 1)‘ed a druid. two of my team mates got killed by a sync burst with that ranged pet. I just ran cause I knew he out-contested the point vs mesmer. We won but that druid never went down and almost carry game. I’ll post a video of this druid nonsense soon.
This is the day I call power mesmer nonviable. Shoulda ran condi…
Fighting a 2v1 to contest a point, so the other 4 people on my team can get points… only to see them all die 3v4

I was playing on Capricorn with a build I’m not used to, a Shadow Arts Thief. I went down on point in a 1v2 against a Dragonhunter and a Thief. The DH tried to stomp me, but I teleported to the other side of the point. A friendly came and downed the Thief. I kept throwing daggers at the DH to bounce them to kill the Thief who went into Stealth. My friendly healed me enough to keep me alive until I could rally off the Thief. Then we killed the DH to cap the point.
The DH wrote over chat that I was a useless Thief.
I made my way across to the Docks point to decap it. I got there a little before a friendly and that same DH. I decided to let my friendly take the point while I intercepted the DH. Between my friendly’s ranged attacks and my melee, we took down the DH again.
The DH insulted me again, which I ignored… I can’t even remember what he said. So I just sent him a wink. Then it happened… he told me to wait there so we could 1v1.
Yes, I ignored it and went to help the rest of my team secure the victory. But all the time, I’m like… “What is that guy thinking? A core Thief 1v1 against a Dragonhunter?” I bet he likes to steal candy from babies as well.

Bunkered down on a point our team holds, denying cap, holding my own for over 3 minutes against 3 of the enemy team. Being yelled at after for being useless not-burn-meta with my “kitten staff guard”.
Haha, I love all of these!
So a couple of days ago, I was playing Druid on Capricorn with a Herald, Berzerker, and two Dragonhunters (I think). I wish I could say the usual splits happened, except the Berzerker on my team decided he wanted to rush far to start the match, and I can’t even remember where the 2nd DH went, but it wasn’t mid.
As expected, that left me and the Herald in a 2v4 at mid. It didn’t go well. The Herald went down almost instantly while fighting off-point, and despite poping SotP, SoS, and being traited for SnR, I couldn’t rez him under the pressure of a Reaper, Druid, Chronomancer, and DH. Tried to retreat before getting downed, but the lingering condi’s and an immob stopped that idea. After this, the enemy Chronomancer and DH left mid to go elsewhere.
Somewhere in that whole mess the Berzerker and first DH had died in a 2v1 versus something, and had lost both home and far. So we were being 3-capped…
“no-show” DH had respawned with the Herald and started heading mid to help out. By the time I reached mid, the Herald was downed again and the DH was dripping with condi’s. My rez-defenses were still on-cooldown from rezzing the Herald, so I decided to tough it out and try to at least heal-up the DH while putting pressure on the Reaper (enemy Druid was pew-pewing with a longbow on the ledge above mid-point). Same thing happened, though. They ended up focusing me with condi’s + immob and all 3 of us wiped at mid.
The Berzerker on our team said “lost 1v3 at mid, you guys are garbage,” and went afk at respawn to continue his trash insults. I said “4v5, gg” to which he called me out to be the most garbage of garbage — trash that makes PvE’ers look good.
Lost in a landslide 16 – 500.

I saw lots of players with different levels of skill and experience having fun.
Now now… please go easy on us casual unranked pvp’ers
I have played quite a number of (only unranked) matches, and is Rank Tiger. But quite honestly, I still have little clue on how to properly rotate! Sometimes, I don’t get how an opponent can just kill me with ease. I guess I’m a slow learner…
Of course, having good teammates always make my life easier, and I’m always thankful in those occasions!
If I may, for those of you who think that your teammates are rubbish and are losing, please don’t be kittened off and go AFK just because you’ve had enough… I think that’s just rude, discouraging to new players, and prevent them learning from better players. Arguably, if you can somehow learn to overcome (even slightly) the infamous “MMR problem”, you’ve made yourself a better player.
Cheers

It was inspiring really people would start to chase him leaving the point decapped longer, I don’t think he died once.
Im playing full trap ranger with entangle and in multiple matches across many fights i see this.

The ranger one is kinda bullkitten though… like, what are they suppose to do? Just let you have the point? You can’t see the traps and your alternative (assuming you’re not going to just run from the point like a little kitten) is to fight them at range which usually is going to result in the ranger winning, yes you can dodge but you only have so many dodges and if you do use them to avoid 2/3 traps then you get to eat their elite skill+the krait rune condis and die which is assuming you can magically not trigger the ones they’ve already set down on the point before you got there. There’s not really a way to fight that unless you just have massive condi clear or team mates with you. It’s a dumb build.
As for my things? I’ve had my entire team go on home in the new map (minus myself) and then just sit there, and cap it, while i got to try and fight three of them on mid.
From a while back but I still think it was a great unranked moment- on forest my team who had a great composition actually lost against a team of 5 thieves (they were all solo queue so what are the chances of that? Lol). We did okay but people died to the thieves too much and we lost about 500-450. I found that loss particularly funny because people get angry when they have 2 thieves but clearly having 5 is not a bad idea!

Once had a match against 5 staff daredevils with me (herald), a reaper, an ele (pre nerf), and 2 DH’s.
I think I was the only one to die that entire match, I only died once, and it was because I got focused by 3 of them at mid.
We actually timed out at like 350-290. Only match I’ve ever hit time limit on.
Raid of Capricorn starts, no one says anything about home and run full straight to mid so I go cap it. When it is done, I meet the Revenant who capped far midway to home. I kill him and push to far to decap since would take him a while to respawn.
The rev respawns and fights me on far, I kill him once again and full cap far. A DH my team killed at mid respawns and come with a berserker who pulled off mid to far to take their point back. I fight them for 2 full minutes while I see two of my team dies in mid in a 4v3 fight… our druid has to pull off mid to not die and help me finish the DH and Berserker off while our team respawns and go back to help them at mid.
At this very moment, one of those guys who died on mid call me out on team chat in all caps saying I was kittening them up on mid because I was at far. No matter that we were winning by a large margin by the way.
When I pointed out I have been fighting outnumbered in our own point at far and if they died at mid was their own fault ( I mean really? I was kittening them up at mid because we didn’t do a 5v3 apparently and I bet he would still die), that guy started to say he was someone known from AG, never heard of me before and that I was a scrub for not making more than 900k damage on the match. LOL
Thief / Mesmer / Elementalist / Warrior / Necromancer / Ranger / Engineer / Revenant
Crystal Desert – Eredon Terrace – Fort Aspenwood – Stormbluff Isle
Example of match making quality.
(someone chose Temple map, unranked). One of my team presumably must have been annoyed that it wasnt Capricorn and DC’ed. So it was 4v5 from the start. We won 500/200. How about that for matchmaking?
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
In unranked, Capricorn, 4 running and capping home base and staying there …. ALL the time, every match…
I’m matched with very new players, why? I have over 2k matches played, dragon rank and I just don’t get it.
New Players got Average MMR when that start.
Many did ask to lower the starting MMR of new account. But Sales dept, think that it’s good business to get main account, buy new account to feel better.
It’s not about skills bro, it’s all about where you stand on the MMR scale. (mainly because pver population is 2000x bigger than spvper pop)

Argument for average starting MMR is that their MMR will converge faster to the proper value. Which is correct.
Doesn’t stop it from being a kitten.

Then put them at 35%, so the average players are less annoyed by it?
Good one, will raised anyway.
It’s harder to raise from 0%, then the sweet compromise would be the third of the way, not half of it.

It’s not hard to raise from zero. It’s impossible. IIRC it’s New MMR=MMR*(+-MMR deviation) MMR deviation is bigger for newer accounts and decreases the more game you play, inactivity increases it. Not sure what factors exactly affect the MMR deviation.

Last week, right after the patchs I did a couple of unranked game.
I was on a troll mode so I ran Support Guard with Signet of Mercy, just for the lols.
In a Game on Forest of Nifhael, we were holding far in a 3cap, killing ppl at the home respawn after respawn in a 2vX.
So my team mate goes down(Arken), I was waiting for that the entire game just to pop Signet of Mercy to rez him. Then Arken told me, your such a troll
Good time that was..
