This is not how good MM works
I ran into this same problem the past day — fell out of platinum to low tier gold such that I couldn’t even buy a win. Teammates pushing far on respawn and dying one by one by themselves. Bad rotations. Afk players at the start of the match or they’ll go afk in the middle. Did they secretly patch matchmaking to suck more?
Winning is so heavily placed on the skill of you teammates, that it is silly the game doesn’t take personal contribution into account when adjusting mmr. One bad player dying far all game can lose you whole game, nothing you can do about it.

This is so true. In my matches, I’ve tried to find ways to lessen the impact. If I flat out ignore them rushing far and feeding points, it doesn’t work because the opposing team is not only better at 1v1 against that person far, but they will continue to rotate and fight us 5v4 around the rest of the map. The only times I win is when my team is substantially better in a team fight than the opposing team.
If I, or other teammates, go to help support this one person rushing far and dying, we will inevitably end up in a team fight at far, during which the rusher will be singled out and killed rather quickly leaving us with another outmanned fight at far. Even if we win, it’s hard to out-sustain the other team on their home node, and we will eventually either die to a lack of cooldowns from a constant storm or we will lose the rest of the map trying to maintain that position.
The problem in both cases is the one person refuses to rotate or go anywhere else, and even if he or she did, it would likely just be another 5 points for the opposing team.
EDIT: Also, sometimes even if I ignore the person rushing far, my other teammates will sometimes rush over there to help. In which case, it’s a 10 point meal instead of 5.

Bring back team queues, and at least let us play with our friends against opposing teams.
It’s a problem with solo queue.
In any rating system, you’ll have a larger portion of the population near the middle rating. That middle section is inherently more volatile during the first few weeks of the rating system. If the parameters are well-tuned, it should sort itself out once people play more games.
I wish game would consider game scores when handling out rating. If game was close (498-500) you shouldn’t be losing much. I have no way to control what teammates i get (beside quoq), i can’t prevent the game from giving me teammates that are 100 rating below the enemy team. I do my best but i can’t carry that, it is a team game after all and yet i get punished heavy for such wonky MM.
The scores in the matches on my screenshot probably would be even worse if i wasn’t murdering things and decapping 24/7. Switching classes doesn’t help either. I can play engi, i can play necro – it is still same effect. I win 1 point, lose everything else. Go to next, win it – lose everything else. I can’t split but the game somehow expects me to.

Wait, you’re saying a rating system based on the performance of 4 completely random people that may actually be asleep is bad? No way…

Tbh I doubt it. I think its a problem with something else:
You cant carry with a thief.
Well, maybe the really really really good ones can make a big differences, but 95% of them cant. Especially not in an enviroment when they get killed instantly by the 10 AoE traps laying on top of each other from the 3 DHs that’s not even on point.
Or maybe just the OP got unlucky, what do I know.

As i said before, i did switch to other classes (engis, necro) – it made no difference. In fact, as thief i had bit better score because i could rotate faster and split enemy since my teams just lose every team fight. And as i said, every match boiled down to the point that i can’t be at 2 places at the same time and i cant hold 2 points at the same time. It doesn’t matter if i ping on map, try to talk to the team etc.
I mean i can’t really blame my team in that sense – they are ranked at least 100 points below the enemy. I just can’t win games for them and i honestly don’t understand why i should.

Low tier play requires a different mentality, you can’t rely on your team at all and thief relies on people rotating and allowing you to +1 fights or bursting people. That doesn’t work in low tier unfortunately unless you are duo-ing.
It’s best to just run super bunker/bruiser and push far, 1v2/1v3 every game and just hope your team can cap a point or 2.

I dont know anout engineer, but thief and necro usually benefit from proper team play. Especially if you play boon corruption on necro.

Shoutbow Druid has been working great for me. It destroys Dragonhunters, has great mobility, great party support, great reviving with “Search and Rescue”, and pretty decent overall damage. I finish most matches with top Healing/Revives/Damage/Kills.
Scrapper is great and all, especially for revives and point holding, but Scrapper is very easy to kite and the teleport from “Search and Rescue” is vital to getting off resses when your teammates are trying to face tank aoe damage at mid.
